> 3 dayI bought this monitor for how versatile it would be in my setup. However, the main use is with my ps5. I had no desire to get an hdmi 2.1 4k tv as my display, so i settled for a 60hz 4k monitor. This one fit exactly what i was looking for. The 60hz is fine for the games i play, but maybe not for you. I hear hdmi 2.1 monitors will be released this year, so maybe wait on that if 60hz isnt enough for you. Now for the review. I am very picky about my visual and audio experience and this monitor lived up to my expectations. Out of the box, i really didnt like how the colors, brightness and sharpness looked. it just didnt have the pop of the LG 34gn850 despite being 4k and the 34gn850 being 1440p. Once i adjusted what i could with HDR on, i was a bit more satisfied, but still unimpressed. I then turned HDR off and everything changed. I messed with my settings and used the super resolution on high and that changed my whole perception. I was then very impressed. HDR just ruined the colors on ps5. They just didnt pop. The HDR is useless in my opinion and i wouldnt recommend using it. Super resolution has gotten a lot of hate from the reviews i read and maybe it is bad when used as a regular monitor, but as a gaming monitor, this option on high was perfect for me. I think it is worth getting the newer version that has the feature than an older monitor like the ul and uk if you are using it for gaming. Super resolution gets a 10/10 as a feature from me. The black levels are the main issue here. The blacks are almost grey no matter what settings you try. This doesnt bother me at all and is an issue with the 34gn850 as well. I think its just an ips monitor thing. I used an hp2511x tn panel before this and it had way better black levels, but also had way worse viewing angles. I guess its all up to preference when it comes to tn/ips/va but i think ips is still the best. The color accuracy and pop of the colors make ips the winner for me. The response time is fine. I havent done any technical analysis of it, but it doesnt feel any different than the tn panel i was using which was also 5ms. Just make sure you set freesync to extended and response time to faster in the settings. This monitor is great if you go through all the settings and tweak it to your liking. Colors stand out, super res is great. response time is good and the 4k is obviously the main selling point. The negatives are not enough to give it less than 5 stars for me, but i could see people having issues with black levels.

> 3 dayI have had this monitor for 2 years, love it for using a laptop and working on a larger screen. The USB-C to USB-C cable needs replacing, sometimes it works and powers the computer and sometimes it does not power? It connects to the monitor for a picture but not power? I cannot find the appropriate cable to replace? If I plug in a USBC- to USB-C it does not connect to a picture?

> 3 dayCurrently have a 2017 27 5K iMac and will be replacing it with an M2 Mac Mini or Pro when theyre released so I took advantage of Amazons Prime Day pricing and bought two of these LG 27UN850-W monitors. Since I dont have the Mini yet, I wanted to compare them to my iMac. I connected one at a time and ran screen tests to confirm no dead pixels, etc. Both look to be in perfect shape. My iMac recognized them immediately and they worked right out of the box using the cable included by LG. I only changed two settings, one was to uncheck the High Dynamic Range as it made the images too bright. The other was to scale the resolution which made everything on both monitors almost identical. After changing both settings and working with the LG monitor and my iMac side-by-side I have to say that I am *very* impressed. Of course the LG is 4K, not 5K like the iMac, but the difference is more than acceptable. My office has a window behind me and although I really like the iMacs glossy screen, the LGs mat screen helps with the reflections quite a bit. Im not a professional, but I do work a great deal with photos and videos as well as other graphics. When I move the images from my iMac to the LG and back I can see some differences but not enough to warrant spending $1500 on Apples stand-alone monitor. The LG monitor is simply an excellent value IMHO. Ive only been running the monitors for a few days, but I have to say that I am very impressed. Ive been using iMacs for about 20 years now and I wasnt looking forward to switching to a Mini (or Pro), but I believe these are the monitors that will ease the transition a great deal. Highly recommended so far. Ill be sure and report back if I come across any issues.

Greater than one weekJust to clarify, the manual does show that this monitor only comes with a type-c cable. No hdmi included. I bought it for my macbook and this one charges it right away. Before this I didnt do much research and got a 2k 24 inch monitor and the text is way too small. I would like a 4k 24 inch but there are only a few and they are more expensive. 27inch is still a bit too big for me bc my desk is not on the giant size. But 4k looks so good after adjustment and I am very happy with it. The only issue is that i dont see any difference between the 2020 model and 2019 model and the older one costs 50 dollars less. Lenovo customer service dont see any difference either. If you dont mind you can go get the ul version.

> 3 dayThis is likely the best monitor that Ive owned. Color, brightness and image definition are excellent. The speakers are oriented away from the user. That is less than ideal. Ful disclosure, I seldom have audio on when operating my desktop. My main gripe is the on/off button. It has dual functionality in that it is also used to access various monitor controls. Not infrequently when I try to power the monitor off, it instead brings up a control menu. A bit annoying. Id prefer two buttons.

> 3 dayWe have an office full of LG 32UN880-B monitors, which were out of stock, so we ordered this one for about the same price. Side by side, this monitor has terrible viewing angles and is far more washed out than our other LG displays. Very disappointed in the quality of this monitor vs other LG HDR monitors.

> 3 dayEasy - connect your PC with display port, use one of the HDMI inputs for your 4k Roku stick, do some PC tasks, then take a break and watch a movie on Netflix or Amazon. **Nice bright picture with HDR. You can adjust picture mode individually in display port, and HDMI, etc. I have it set for HDR effect for both DP and HDMI. **Having an IPS panel means super rich, and vibrant colors. **Also, 350 nits of brightness is plenty bright for HDR! Note: This LG 27UN850-W 27 Inch Ultrafine UHD Monitor also has a USB C-port that can charge your laptop or cell phone. Allows you to display whats on your cell, or laptop directly on the monitor just by plugging into the USB C-port, while also charging the connected device. ***I have NOT used the USB C-port yet, as I purchased this monitor mainly for connecting my Dell desktop PC using the Display Port, and for using my 4K Roku stick (HDMI port) for watching NETFLIX and AMAZON Prime movies. To find out more about this monitors USB C-port (a great feature that other monitors DO NOT have), watch some YouTube reviews.

> 3 dayI bought this monitor to match the one I bought 5 years ago. It’s now half the price it was back then. Worth it.

> 3 dayUPDATE 11/2022: As long as you take care not to jostle the cord once inserted in the back of the monitor, it works pretty consistently. After plugging the USB-C into the Mac, its important to wait to hear the connected sound, look for the battery icon to show the charging lightning bolt, and only then close the laptop to put it in clamshell mode. If you dont see the charging lightning bolt, the monitor screen will go dark when you close the laptop. __________________________ I purchased this monitor to work with my M1 Macbook in clamshell mode, and that requires the laptop to be powered. The monitor connection is supposed to power the Mac. To be clear: if the MacBook isn’t receiving power when closed, the monitor goes dark. As numerous other reviews have noted, theres something defective about the hub input for USB-C. It works about 50% of the time, no rhyme or reason. Youll hear the connecting tone, then it disconnects, then it connects, then disconnects. From reading other reviews, its no use getting the monitor replaced, because the replacement will have the same problem. I was out of the return period when I realized this was happening. Lesson learned: when you get electronics, use the f&*% out of them right up front, to make sure theyre going to work in the long run. Other downsides: (1) it’s so bright I can only use it at the very lowest brightness level (and I use Flux to dim the screen in lower light); (2) you must manually adjust all settings using a button under the screen. For instance, the brightness buttons on your Mac will not function.
