> 3 dayThis review is for the LG 27UN850, which Ive been using for a couple months as a usb c monitor with the MSI Prestige 15 laptop. The one star reduction has nothing to do with the image quality, which is excellent for my non photography use. I knew the short comings of the monitor, and I still bought it, because its such a good value for the price. The shortcomings in my use are: 1) No hardwired ethernet connection on the monitor. No big deal if you have primo ethernet into your location and good wifi coverage. I dont, and need a hard wired connection. This causes you to burn one usb c port for use as an ethernet connection or a full blown extra usb c hub. 2) Only 50W charging capability. The MSI Prestige has an 82W battery, and can go dead, mainly while gaming, unless the dedicated usb c charger is used. So I need 3 usb c ports on the laptop to fully cover my needs, but as in most laptops, I only have two. 3) I found out, and using a youtube found fix, issues related to laptop battery profiles when using usb c external devices like this monitor. It drove me crazy for a while, the constant ding of disconnect, then immediately ding for reconnect. Not the monitors fault, but fault of usb c mode connection. I havent tried using usb c to display port connection with this monitor, and dont know if that mode would solve some of the problems. A Windows 10 shortcoming when using the monitor as a second monitor. There is no selection to allow the laptop screen as Monitor 1 and the LG as Monitor 2, using them independently. You can either mirror, or use 1 alone or 2 alone. As for big plus, I love the joystick for manipulating all the monitor functions. It took a few days to warm up to it, but now monitors with a row of buttons seem old fashioned and hard to use.

> 3 dayI converted from a PC desktop to a Mac Mini and paired it with this monitor. It was a worthy investment. I spent hours (probably too many) researching this set up. Do yourself a favor - just buy it. The only gripe I have is that some web designs and UI/UX code shows up a little grainy because its not set up to be displayed on a monitor with this many pixels. Haha. Ill take that trade off. Ive got it mounted on my desktop right now, but in a few days Ive got a monitor arm coming which Ill set up. Thatll be about it for my monitor set up. Ill probably end up buying another tbh.

Greater than one weekFirst, when connected to my MacBook Pro 16, this is an awesome monitor. Setup was easy, and it gracefully handles being plugged in, and unplugged. The speakers on the back are even useful. Now for the bad. Theres no easy way to adjust the sound when the app doesnt present a volume slider. When using with Linux, it sort of works, but there are no settings that can place the monitor in some kind of comparability mode, so I get half a screen what is basically unusable. This means that in my dual setup, If I want to do development on Linux, I need to use another monitor.

> 3 dayI have tried three different 4k monitors and this one is hands down the only usable one (probably the best under $400). Its totally compatible with my M1 Macbook Pro, and give good use experience when plugged in. Picture quality is really nice and I have nothing to complain about it.

> 3 dayI am driving this monitor from an MBP 16in. The key aspects are as follows: * The software and manuals are on a CD/DVD. One might wish that at least the packing would include a physical printout of the manual. * Using the USB-C cable to connect USB-C to USB-C does not drive the monitor with all of its possible options available. * Trying to drive the monitor through a modestly-budgeted (Anker) USB-C to HDMI adaptor does not provide all of the possible options and indeed seems to give issues tracking the color calibration. * The only option that worked was to use a trusted USB-C (thunderbolt) to HDMI adaptor (I use one from iVANKY). This drives the monitor with its fullest options exposed in the menu settings. * The menu toggle is conveniently located at the center bottom. You can adjust the sound volume with left-right action. You can select the full menu options with a press. * The speakers are somewhat tinny sounding. When sound is being driven through the HDMI, you cannot control volume form the MBP, you must use the monitor hardware button (as noted above). Now that this is set up, I appreciate the 4k next to the Retina on the MBP (sitting on the right of the monitor). I appreciate the extra screen real-estate. I can have a split-view of two different apps running nicely on this monitor. Finally, I appreciate being able to toggle between different pre-sets in monitor output, such a Vivid, Custom, or Cinema. I use this to run Vivid in daylight, a lower-brightness Custom set in dimmer evening light, and Cinema for video movie streaming. Overall, this is a very good to excellent option as a second monitor to a MBP 16in.

> 3 dayThis is used with a Mac Studio. It is incredible quality and worked out of the box with no issues. 100% worth the price.

> 3 dayUPDATE: April 25, 2021: Running into problems with USB-C cables longer than the supplied LG 12 cable, I decided to try Apples cables, since Apple is well-know for making high quality products. First I tried Apples (thin) 1 meter cheaper USB-C Charge Cable. That cable did not work. Next I tried Apples (thick) 0.8 meter more expensive Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) Cable. That one works fine. I noticed with all the USB-C cables I have tried, the thickness of the cables that work are much thicker than the cables that did not work. Another benefit I was not expecting is that with the good-working thick Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cable, all of a sudden my Apple Watch began unlocking my Mac properly. Go figure that one out!! ============================================ This is a wonderful monitor. HOWEVER, if you want to use a USB-C to USB-C cable that is longer than the supplied 12 LG cable, you might not be able to do that: While the supplied 12 LG USB-C cable works fine with my Mac mini M1, I need a longer cable. I tried one of my 3 USB-C cables and it does not work. The Q&A here also shows at least 2 other buyers having the same problem. Thinking it might be a poor quality cable I ordered 2 x 3 Anker USB-C cables: they also did not work. I then tried another of my 3 USB=C cables and it worked. Unfortunately I do not know what brand it is, or where it came from. I just got off the phone with LG support. They could not provide me with a solution for obtaining a USB-C cable that is longer than their supplied 12 USB-C cable. (I am not interested in using an HDMI cable.) LG support repeated told me that any other 3 USB-C cable should work. But clearly not all of them do. I was surprised that even the Anker USB-C 3 cables did not work. LG support also repeated tried to tell me that a *12* monitor cable is the standard length. That, of course, is ridiculous. Its a shame I had to deduct 1 star due to this problem. YMMV Otherwise, again, this is a wonderful monitor.

Greater than one weekPurchased this monitor for my M1 Macbook Air and Xbox Series X. I love being able to connect only one USB C cable to my mac for power and video. The control knob is simple and just works. The monitor has a great port selection but I have not tested the USB hub for transfer speeds with my laptop. The stand feels solid and I like having the monitor up higher so my laptop screen can be open directly beneath. The included cable management clip is cheap but it works well enough. Hopefully, this monitor lasts me for years as Im a big fan. Works great for 4k @60hz on the Xbox Series X.

> 3 dayI took a risk and bought a used monitor for about $280 and it is solid budget monitor for GREAT VALUE. I had tempered expectations and was initially concerned about it used, but monitor was practically brand new. I got my values worth. Condition came in brand new, 4K resolution, 60hz standard, color is nice for entry level video editing, gaming is great for non competive games, and selling point for me is the USB-C to connect my M1 16in PRO. I would do this again.
