> 3 dayUPDATE 11/2022: As long as you take care not to jostle the cord once inserted in the back of the monitor, it works pretty consistently. After plugging the USB-C into the Mac, its important to wait to hear the connected sound, look for the battery icon to show the charging lightning bolt, and only then close the laptop to put it in clamshell mode. If you dont see the charging lightning bolt, the monitor screen will go dark when you close the laptop. __________________________ I purchased this monitor to work with my M1 Macbook in clamshell mode, and that requires the laptop to be powered. The monitor connection is supposed to power the Mac. To be clear: if the MacBook isn’t receiving power when closed, the monitor goes dark. As numerous other reviews have noted, theres something defective about the hub input for USB-C. It works about 50% of the time, no rhyme or reason. Youll hear the connecting tone, then it disconnects, then it connects, then disconnects. From reading other reviews, its no use getting the monitor replaced, because the replacement will have the same problem. I was out of the return period when I realized this was happening. Lesson learned: when you get electronics, use the f&*% out of them right up front, to make sure theyre going to work in the long run. Other downsides: (1) it’s so bright I can only use it at the very lowest brightness level (and I use Flux to dim the screen in lower light); (2) you must manually adjust all settings using a button under the screen. For instance, the brightness buttons on your Mac will not function.

> 3 dayI am driving this monitor from an MBP 16in. The key aspects are as follows: * The software and manuals are on a CD/DVD. One might wish that at least the packing would include a physical printout of the manual. * Using the USB-C cable to connect USB-C to USB-C does not drive the monitor with all of its possible options available. * Trying to drive the monitor through a modestly-budgeted (Anker) USB-C to HDMI adaptor does not provide all of the possible options and indeed seems to give issues tracking the color calibration. * The only option that worked was to use a trusted USB-C (thunderbolt) to HDMI adaptor (I use one from iVANKY). This drives the monitor with its fullest options exposed in the menu settings. * The menu toggle is conveniently located at the center bottom. You can adjust the sound volume with left-right action. You can select the full menu options with a press. * The speakers are somewhat tinny sounding. When sound is being driven through the HDMI, you cannot control volume form the MBP, you must use the monitor hardware button (as noted above). Now that this is set up, I appreciate the 4k next to the Retina on the MBP (sitting on the right of the monitor). I appreciate the extra screen real-estate. I can have a split-view of two different apps running nicely on this monitor. Finally, I appreciate being able to toggle between different pre-sets in monitor output, such a Vivid, Custom, or Cinema. I use this to run Vivid in daylight, a lower-brightness Custom set in dimmer evening light, and Cinema for video movie streaming. Overall, this is a very good to excellent option as a second monitor to a MBP 16in.

> 3 dayExcellent screen resolution as used for the main screen for coding and creating in Blender with my 2019 MacBook Pro 16, but THIS IS NOT THE ULTRAFINE AS LISTED. I am still keeping the product as it is a great price for the quality, but buyer beware! The built-in speakers are not good when compared to the built-in speakers of the MacBook I am using. Also when it is first hooked up make sure to uncheck High Dynamic Range in the settings so the colors actually match your built-in retina display colors.

> 3 dayEasy - connect your PC with display port, use one of the HDMI inputs for your 4k Roku stick, do some PC tasks, then take a break and watch a movie on Netflix or Amazon. **Nice bright picture with HDR. You can adjust picture mode individually in display port, and HDMI, etc. I have it set for HDR effect for both DP and HDMI. **Having an IPS panel means super rich, and vibrant colors. **Also, 350 nits of brightness is plenty bright for HDR! Note: This LG 27UN850-W 27 Inch Ultrafine UHD Monitor also has a USB C-port that can charge your laptop or cell phone. Allows you to display whats on your cell, or laptop directly on the monitor just by plugging into the USB C-port, while also charging the connected device. ***I have NOT used the USB C-port yet, as I purchased this monitor mainly for connecting my Dell desktop PC using the Display Port, and for using my 4K Roku stick (HDMI port) for watching NETFLIX and AMAZON Prime movies. To find out more about this monitors USB C-port (a great feature that other monitors DO NOT have), watch some YouTube reviews.

> 3 dayI really struggled with the decision for what monitor to buy for my new Apple MacStudio computer, and was seriously considering spending another $2k on the Apple Studio display, but after reading ALOT of reviews I settled on this LG ultra fine 27 inch display and saved myself about $1500! It is a great display, plenty of brightness and clarity of color. From now on I’ll stick to Apple for my computers but there is no need to spend the extra money on their displays when these lower priced options are just as good!

Greater than one weekI purchased this after returning the Samsung M80B as it gave me a headache. This thing had perfect color (for my needs at least) out of the box. Pros: Easy to set up Tons of connections options Stand has the perfect tension for going up and down Picture looks great even if the blacks cannot get as dark as a VA panel Very easy on the eyes Cons: I dont like the control button placement on the bottom. I have a controller that I have to move every time I need to get to it Contrast is not quite as rich as the Samsung VA panel I returned Not a native resolution to my Mac Studio although I dont have the wallet for the 5k version

Greater than one weekI bought this monitor to match the one I bought 5 years ago. It’s now half the price it was back then. Worth it.

Greater than one weekThis is a decent monitor for light use. I dont use it for gaming, and I dont use it for high production creative work, where color exactness is really important. But for everyday tasks, such as zoom meetings and email and such, it is very nice and works well. My only complaint with the design is that the stand sticks out too much for my liking. The total footprint of the monitor is about 9 deep, and the stand sticks out about 4 in front of the monitor. I remember when I bought the monitor, I read some reviews that said the built in speakers are ok. They are not. They are as terrible as you would imagine them to be. Also I remember reading that people did not like the nipple that you use to set the ports on the monitor and control other settings. I have not had any problems with that interface. It seems easy enough to me, even if its slightly annoying.

Greater than one weekPurchased this monitor for my M1 Macbook Air and Xbox Series X. I love being able to connect only one USB C cable to my mac for power and video. The control knob is simple and just works. The monitor has a great port selection but I have not tested the USB hub for transfer speeds with my laptop. The stand feels solid and I like having the monitor up higher so my laptop screen can be open directly beneath. The included cable management clip is cheap but it works well enough. Hopefully, this monitor lasts me for years as Im a big fan. Works great for 4k @60hz on the Xbox Series X.

> 3 dayThis monitor is interesting. I’ve enjoyed my experience with it overall. However, it took me quite a while to figure out the correct settings to be able to use it. The default settings have extremely high contrast. Reds were appearing as some sort of neon red/pink color. I got it figured out after a lot of trial and error. One of the big reasons I got this monitor was so that I could use a single usb-c cord for charging (Mac) and attaching to the monitor. Unfortunately, the monitor doesn’t provide enough power to actually charge the computer. It just dies much more slowly. I use it as my home office computer (graphic design) and it lasts for the whole work day, usually. Then I have to plug into the original charger at night. I didn’t think I would have to do that, so that was a little let down. Anyway, it’s a great monitor overall. Just has a few hiccups that can be worked through.
