I have the non IPS (VA) version. I got it on sale during Christmas sales, so its hard to beat this monitor for the price. I have not starting gaming on it yet, but good colors and contrast and great real estate. Does not seem to cause me any eye strain. No dead pixels. For a widescreen 1440p monitor and for the price I paid, Im pretty happy with it. That said, there is a strange cutoff right at the edge of the bottom bezel. Unless you are looking at it straight on or beneath, the last ~2 rows of pixels are diminished. And since it is at the bottom of the screen and my eyes are always above the bottom edge, I notice it. Its not something that bothers me really, but its there and it shouldnt be. The speakers are fine for what they are. Bass tone drops off heavily below 110hz, which I would expect. Pretty good spacial stereo for built-in monitor speakers. It works fine for general use and meetings. If you need more you would want external speakers or a good headset.

The monitor that I am used to and use as a benchmark is a monitor from my MSI63 Stealth gaming laptop. It offers quite a powerful display even though it came out in 2018. Since then I upgraded to the Dell 34in Curved Monitor S3422DW. That was a big leap from my gaming laptop so going back from the dell to my MSI display to this was like discovering fire. The LG UltraGear QHD 34-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor is a top-of-the-line option for gamers seeking a high-quality, immersive gaming experience. The 34-inch curved display provides a wide field of view, making it easy to take in all the action on the screen. Perfect for FPS or 3rd person hack and slash games like Sekiro. The QHD resolution ensures that the images are crisp and clear, with vibrant colors and deep blacks. The monitors fast refresh rate and low input lag make for smooth and responsive gameplay. Gamers will enjoy a seamless experience, with no lag or stuttering. The curved design of the monitor also helps to reduce eye strain during extended gaming sessions. This makes the monitor not only a great gaming monitor but also ideal for work, streaming and other multi-media consumption. The monitor also has a variety of convenient features, such as on-screen control and multiple gaming presets. These options allow for easy customization and optimization of your gaming experience. Gamers can tailor the settings to suit their preferences and game types. Overall, this is a great gaming monitor that offers excellent performance, a host of useful features, and an immersive curved design that makes it a standout choice.

I ordered this after hours of research on many different monitors. I decided to pull the plug on this. I’m glad I did, this monitor is great. The video quality is good and is excellent for gaming. I’m looking to purchase another soon.

This is a review for the LG 34GP83A. I saved up for months to get an ultrawide curved and Im enamored with the quality that LG has delivered. Shopping for a monitor is a really confusing endeavor - the naming scheme is bonkers, its hard to understand what combination of specifications meet your needs, and theres seemingly no satisfactory quality control. That last point is crucial. Youre spending top dollar on a screen that may have dead pixels, backlight bleed, stuttering, flickering, cracks, chips, or any dozen other imperfections. And some companies wont offer you a replacement because they allot a certain number of factory imperfections. It makes you feel like youre gambling. Its ridiculous. Ill make this as simple as I can for those of you like me who are only looking for a monitor to game on. This monitor runs at 144 Hz at 1440p, which is the current sweet spot for gaming. There are higher resolutions out there, but most games arent optimized to run at this many frames per second at 4k. As someone who has owned a max 60 FPS 1080p monitor for the past decade, the upgrade is tremendous. Games run so beautifully smooth, like nothing youve seen before. Just be sure to enable your monitor because out-of-the-box they dont run at the advertised refresh rate. On Windows 10, go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties and click on the Monitor tab to choose 144 Hz. You also need to use the included display port cable. 21:9 is the aspect ratio which is what defines the ultrawide experience. Most movies are filmed in a 21:9 ratio (hence the black bars). I find it absolutely incredible at immersing me into the game. Not all games are supported at 21:9, in which case youll play with vertical black bars on either side, which is not a problem at all since the game itself still runs beautifully. For games that are supported, though...hoo-boy, I can never go back. I primarily play empire-building and RTS-style games. Games like Total War: Warhammer 2, Age of Empires II, Frostpunk, Civilization V, and XCOM 2 were meant to be played on a screen like this. As soon as you get your monitor make sure to run a dead pixel check using sites like lcdtech.info. NOTE: WIPE YOUR MONITOR WITH A MICROFIBER BEFORE TESTING. I want to let the world know that Im an idiot who thought that three motes of dust were dead pixels. At this price point, there should be no excuse for factory imperfections and you deserve the monitor you paid for. In summary, this monitor makes me happy to come home from work every day. I enthusiastically recommend it.

This is an amazing monitor but if your running a lower end GPU, I wouldnt recommend it. Bought this and ran it on a 1080FE for about 2 weeks and the GPU was struggling. After I set it up on my 4090, this thing came to life!

Note: This review is being written after roughly one month of ownership. After doing months of research, I had originally set my heart on LGs excellently reviewed LG 34GN850. However, it had been selling out before I could get my order in and the monitors original sale price had increased, much to my dismay. I was surprised and more than a bit skeptical then when reports that LG had a model releasing in its UltraGear line with virtually identical specs to the 34GN850 but at a lower initial price of $800 (including an extra $50 off MSRP). Seriously, nobody could get a straight answer about the differences except the aesthetics. Nevertheless, I took the shot-- fully expecting to return the model when some unknown defect appeared. With over a month of this thing hanging above my desk, Im happy to report this is the real deal! Pros: - Indistinguishable performance to the LG 34GN850-b, an already excellently reviewed monitor - Cheaper than the LG 34GN850-b ($850 vs $1000 MSRP) - Extremely fast response (even amongst other IPS panels) leading to excellent motion clarity - Excellent color reproduction over DCI-P3 with an acceptable sRGB clamp Cons: - LGs in-house warranty is less than stellar (much prefer a more robust option like the ones offered by Dell) - Typical IPS issues: low contrast, more expensive than VA panels, etc. For a much more comprehensive review of the sister model, Id recommend checking out HardwareUnboxed on Youtube. Overall, daily use of this monitor has blown me away. One big note for users with older GPUs: make 100% sure that chroma subsampling is *disabled* because it will make text virtually unreadable. The full suite of 144hz+1440p+wide gamut requires DisplayPort 1.4 (or equivalent). Its much better to reduce the color spectrum and/or refresh rate rather than use chroma subsampling.

Pros: - 144Hz is smooth. I came from using a 60Hz monitor before this and the higher refresh rate is a night and day difference. It even has an option to overclock the monitor to 160Hz in the settings. - I do not work expertly with colors, but my amateur opinion is that the colors look great. I was using an LG IPS prior to this but these colors are even better. - Having Freesync/Gsync going down to 48hz is nice, especially at this high resolution where you may not be able to pushing games consistently at 60fps depending on your hardware. - It reportedly uses the same panel as the 34GN850-B, which is being sold for $200 more. I did a bit of research before purchasing and found no meaningful difference between the two, so this is certainly a better deal. - The curve is not too aggressive. I do not like curved panels for the sake of being curved, but I feel at this aspect ratio and size, this amount of curvature feels right and is appreciated. Cons: - If you use a multi-monitor setup, you will encounter issues with Deep Sleep. Upon waking your computer after it has been idle, all your windows will re-arrange themselves as if the 34GP83A-B had been unplugged momentarily. LG support has so far not been helpful on this. Some quick online research shows other users experience this same issue, even on other LG UltraGear models. As of 12/5/2020, LG has not fixed this issue. (This can be very annoying, and I would have given this monitor 5 stars if not for this) - Do not expect HDR to look great on this monitor. HDR400 certification is not enough for an enjoyable HDR experience so if that is a requirement, you should look elsewhere. Other Notes: - I do sometimes connect my 2019 MacBook Pro to this monitor via HDMI using the official Apple dongle. It outputs the full native resolution, but only at 50hz. It would have been nice to at least have 60hz. Unfortunately, I am not sure if if this is a limitation of my HDMI cables. - No comments on the included stand since I am using my own VESA mount.

Ive been wanting an ultrawide for a while but they all come with compromises so I hadnt brought myself to pulling the trigger... For example, this monitor is G-Sync Compatible which means it doesnt have an official Nvidia G-Sync module. Getting a monitor with the module is like an extra $400 (bleh). This monitor had such good reviews and ticked all the other boxes (despite still being expensive) so I picked it up. Im really glad I did. Its quite the upgrade from my old 27, 1440p TN panel. Im not one to nitpick over details like some of the other reviewers claiming that the HDR isnt great. To me, it looks fantastic and is plenty bright enough (I have the brightness at 50% in my dark office). Some useful info for those of you who may be looking at this thing: - The USB ports require a USB 3.0 Type B cable which isnt provided. Be sure to pick one up on Amazon (I ordered one for ten bucks). - Im using a Wali heavy duty monitor stand (also from Amazon) to support it. It works fantastic. - The backlight is a Govee H6102 (also from Amazon). - My rig is a a i5-9600k @ 4.9Ghz with a RTX 2080 (stock overclock). Red Dead @ Ultra averages at 51 fps! Will have to upgrade my gpu when prices come down! :P
