Replaced some old 27s with these. Picture and performance are amazing. 10-bit color @ 144hz on both of them. Games are fluid and beautiful. Text and charts are clear and sharp. The wide format gives plenty of space. Two displayPort connects instead of 1DP 2HDMI would be nice, but I knew this going in so no issue. The only true flaw concerns DisplayPort deep sleep mode. Most DP monitors have this but many provide a way to disable it. The lack of this feature causes Windows to think the monitor is gone when it enters deep sleep. On waking up, Windows will arrange ALL of your windows on your main monitor, which is extremely annoying. There are numerous people screaming about this online, but so far LG has done nothing, and it affects most if not all of their DisplayPort monitors. There are also numerous fixes online, none of which work. Summary: absolutely get this monitor if you will only be using one screen, and still get it if you can either deal with not sleeping them, or arranging the windows yourself.

This is a review for the LG 34GP83A. I saved up for months to get an ultrawide curved and Im enamored with the quality that LG has delivered. Shopping for a monitor is a really confusing endeavor - the naming scheme is bonkers, its hard to understand what combination of specifications meet your needs, and theres seemingly no satisfactory quality control. That last point is crucial. Youre spending top dollar on a screen that may have dead pixels, backlight bleed, stuttering, flickering, cracks, chips, or any dozen other imperfections. And some companies wont offer you a replacement because they allot a certain number of factory imperfections. It makes you feel like youre gambling. Its ridiculous. Ill make this as simple as I can for those of you like me who are only looking for a monitor to game on. This monitor runs at 144 Hz at 1440p, which is the current sweet spot for gaming. There are higher resolutions out there, but most games arent optimized to run at this many frames per second at 4k. As someone who has owned a max 60 FPS 1080p monitor for the past decade, the upgrade is tremendous. Games run so beautifully smooth, like nothing youve seen before. Just be sure to enable your monitor because out-of-the-box they dont run at the advertised refresh rate. On Windows 10, go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties and click on the Monitor tab to choose 144 Hz. You also need to use the included display port cable. 21:9 is the aspect ratio which is what defines the ultrawide experience. Most movies are filmed in a 21:9 ratio (hence the black bars). I find it absolutely incredible at immersing me into the game. Not all games are supported at 21:9, in which case youll play with vertical black bars on either side, which is not a problem at all since the game itself still runs beautifully. For games that are supported, though...hoo-boy, I can never go back. I primarily play empire-building and RTS-style games. Games like Total War: Warhammer 2, Age of Empires II, Frostpunk, Civilization V, and XCOM 2 were meant to be played on a screen like this. As soon as you get your monitor make sure to run a dead pixel check using sites like lcdtech.info. NOTE: WIPE YOUR MONITOR WITH A MICROFIBER BEFORE TESTING. I want to let the world know that Im an idiot who thought that three motes of dust were dead pixels. At this price point, there should be no excuse for factory imperfections and you deserve the monitor you paid for. In summary, this monitor makes me happy to come home from work every day. I enthusiastically recommend it.

EDIT1 -------- At some point shortly after my initial review I discovered 1 stuck pixel about 3 down and to the right from center. It only shows up on a completely black background so that does lead me to believe its stuck and not dead. Its not noticeable in real-world use so Im not going to knock a star off for it. I do want to again mention the HDR on this monitor. Its just disappointing so dont buy it if youre looking for a good HDR experience. The white levels are very overblown and it sometimes makes me want to hook my PC back up to my LG OLED TV. The SDR performance however is quite good and again for this price range and other features, Im not surprised by the tradeoff in HDR performance. ------------ Im always hesitant to make expensive electronic purchases like this online for fear of getting a defect but luckily this worked out. Ive had this monitor for about a week now and its been really great. Not a single dead pixel or issue so far. At first I thought the curve might be annoying but its just the right amount thats immersive without being overly distracting. This monitor really allows my EVGA 3070 GPU to show its power and I have no problems running games like Destiny 2 or CoD/Warzone at high settings at Native Resolution with GSYNC enabled. There is some backlight bleed in the corners of the monitor but thats honestly expected for a monitor of this size and its not distracting. The default color settings for Game Mode 1 are highly accurate out-of-the-box though I did end up loading a color profile from the Rtings.com review of this monitor. It didnt make much of a difference though which is good because that tells me it was well calibrated from the factory. I do have some complaints which Ill go into next but I want to be clear, these are minor considering the size, general color accuracy, GYSNC/FreeSync support and response times of the monitor. First, Im glad I was home when this was delivered because it did not come in an unmarked box; it was clear to see that this was a large monitor and it could have been easily stolen so make sure someone is around to bring it inside immediately after its delivered. Second, make sure you have approximately 12.5 inches of depth on your desk because the base of the stand is quite large; I actually had to attach small piece of 2x4 wood to the back of my desk to extend it out a little to the stand would fit. Third, my box was missing the USB & HDMI cables - which is fine as I have spares, but all I got was a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Fourth, the cable management is pretty much just a hook on the back of the stand; its laughably inept for such a nice monitor. Lastly, the HDR is not very good but thats to be expected on most PC monitors. I still play games with it turned on as it makes them look more vibrant but the whites and yellows seem a bit overblown. Overall this is a really really great monitor for the price point. So far Im glad I took the chance on this and there hasnt been any major issues.

For the price of around $300, this was the most feature-packed monitor I could find. Decently high resolution with a high refresh rate, built-in speakers, FreeSync and an adjustable stand. My only complaint so far is that there is quite a bit of ghosting/color bleed when pixels change from dark to bright colors. I believe this is due to the VA panel. After a few days of use Ive gotten used to it, but it does make games with darker environments a little hard to play.

Phenomenal monitor. Having included speakers made the decision easy for me. And the speakers are sufficient for gaming in a small room. If your sitting a little ways away I would still want a set of secondary speakers but everything else is exactly how described or even better than you see.. very happy. Good screen for in between 1080 and 4k. If you are looking to upgrade but not for the price of a good 4k monitor this is a a great alternative. Everything is amazing but be ready you cant hit the 120hz on a PS5 because 5he PS5 does not support display port input so under HDMI you can only achieve 60 hz and their are no adapters that go from display port to hdmi that can make a standard HDMI cord achieve 120hz. The only thing I wish I could change is that.

I read a lot of reviews and a lot of people said the bottom row of pixels are dead. Theyre not. Move your head down to eye level at that row. Theyre there. The issue is the viewing angles on this monitor. But theyre there. You can still see it at a normal seated level but its dim. Either way, I prefer this to my previous Samsung Odyssey gaming monitor. I have observed 0 pixel smear. I truly believe the Samsung brand upcharge is purely so they can market an inferior product.

    Greater than one week

Went from an older Benq gaming monitor. Wanted to try an ultrawide and not convinced 4k is really worth the price for a bit more sharpness let alone the requirements in hardware to drive one when gaming. First the monitor is sturdy. Second it has a built in usb hub that makes mounting my web cam convenient. You will have to spend a few bucks to buy a cable none included. Third it has a great looking picture that is butter smooth when gaming. The menus and config are easy to manage. For the sale price I have no complaints would recommend.

Original review: I work from home and use this monitor as my daily driver for work, doing zoom calls, software development, etc. Ive been using this monitor since Aug 2021. After several hours of use I noticed artifacts and ghost images, and the screen even flickers. This is a new issue after a year and a half of using this monitor. For the $839.99 I spent back then I expect more longevity out of this monitor. Ive tried adjusting the refresh rate, contrast settings, and several other settings with no luck. The ghost images from text and camera pictures from zoom calls with peoples faces persist, even if I disconnect my mac and switch to my PC. I downgraded to HDMI for use on a mac and it seems to be working well so far, but Im holding my breath. I also use it for PC gaming using displayport, and thats been a great experience with no ghosting issues, but Im guessing because there is not a lot of static content on the screen in that scenario. UPDATE: LG support was not helpful, they wanted me to spend $400 + shipping to look at my monitor. By pure chance I changed the color profile from the default LG ULTRAGEAR to a custom color profile that looked good to me and this resolved the issue! I no longer have this issue. I like the product but I updated to 3 stars because of the hassle I went through and poor support experience. This issue is resolved on USB-C and HDMI.

These monitors seem to have everything one would want. 1440p, high refresh, good response time, a curve (if thats your thing) and nice saturated colors. Yet at a reasonable cost. Im keeping an eye out, deals like this usually dont happen anymore, but Im thrilled with both of these monitors I picked up.

As the pandemic hit - I wanted to upgrade my work from home space and built a new computer, complete with a 3080 and 3900x. I tried the AW34DW20, Lg34gp83a, and the Acer zx342ck and decided upon the Lg34gp83a. The IPS panel, refresh rate, Displayport and HDMI all are pluses. The main thing I despise is the lack of white balance uniformity from these panels. I believe the AW34DW20 shares the same issue as the panel is the same, however I went through FOUR Lg34gp83as before tolerating the one I have. Its a constant dice roll of dead pixels, silhouetting, back light bleed, IPS glow, or white balance uniformity. Each of them had some sort of white balance uniformity issue (cooler right side vs warmer left side or a cool streak across the bottom and top of the screen with the rest warm). The one I ended up with had a slight cool streak on the right quadrant of the screen - which isnt great, but wasnt willing to roll the dice again as everything else checked out. I did read stories that LGs customer service sucks, but Im willing to take a gamble with this one. The AW34DW20 and customer service from Dell, should be better, but Ive also read stories that their terrible as well. I also think that the negative accounts you read online are more of the exception vs the norm.
