This is a review for the LG 34GP83A-B. Wow! I am an avid gamer who plays all genres, from fast-paced competitive FPS games, Open world RPGs and real-time strategy games and also watch a lot of videos and movies on my PC. I did a lot of research before choosing this monitor and it did not disappoint. This appears to be the exact same panel as the LG 34GN850 that was released several months prior for $1000 with the only difference being the logo on the back and less cables included in the box. Coming from a 27 Acer Predator IPS, which I believed to be one of the best gaming monitors, This LG UltraGear completely destroys it. The Colors are extremely accurate and the response time, while not a true 1ms GtG, is still faster and smoother than any monitor Ive ever used. The 10-bit panel at 144hz is essential for color accuracy while maintaining butter smooth motion. Overclocking to 160hz lowers the panel to 8-bit, but I cant tell the difference between 144hz and 160hz so I just leave it at 144hz to get the color advantage of a 10-bit panel. My only complaints is that the monitor does not have a dedicated G-Sync module, which I feel like an $800 monitor should have. That being said, it is Gsync Compatible and certified by Nvidia to work with Gsync, and I have had no screen tearing unless the framerate drops below 50fps as the freesync premium only supports a minimum of 48fps. This monitor has HDR10 support and is HDR400 certified but I would have liked the monitor to be brighter. Peak brightness is just over 400 nits, which is plenty bright for most use-cases but for HDR content, 400 nits just isnt quite enough to get an immersive HDR experience. Overall, this is BY FAR the fastest, smoothest and most satisfying gaming monitor Ive ever used. It is worth ever penny at $799 and I would highly recommend it.

If youre in doubt at all, check out the review of this screen on RTings. I have two monitors set up, and moving things around on this screen vs. the other is absolutely night and day. LG really nailed it with the LCD pixel color transition math. Many good screens will still show a lot of blur when moving e.g. a window with sharp edges between dark grey and darker grey, but this screen stays super sharp on those same edges. If you like retro-style games with things moving fast in 2D fields, especially emulators playing games that were designed for zero-blur CRT televisions, thats a feature to go for. It turns on quickly, times out to sleep when the DisplayPort source goes to sleep, and you can set it so it has minimal light when in standby. The stand does not swivel, but you can put the screen on top of something like a piece of scrap plywood or posterboard (so the rubber feet dont grip) and that will spin. Honestly though, what you really want to do at this price point is get an articulating desk mount arm and VESA mount the screen. Theres a bit of a reflectivity issue. This screen is a concave reflector lens, with a focal length of about your usual sitting distance. Which sounds great, but it does mean if theres anything bright behind you, or visible reflected in a mirror behind you, this screen has just enough reflectivity that it will sometimes focus a dim blurry image of the light source that fills the entire screen. Ive never had that in a monitor before, not even my previous Asus ROG screen that was the same size and curvature. All navigation is done with a single joystick control, including turning the screen off. (Which does make it a bit difficult to turn the screen off, but I almost never want to do that. It goes to sleep automatically when the attached computer shuts down.) Whats good about the joystick control vs. other brands, is its centrally located right behind a visual feature that makes it really easy to find by touch, and it is FULLY RECESSED. Im glad I bought this screen, but the only reason I had to drop the significant cost is my previous monitor did not have that joystick recessed, and it got broken off while moving the screen around, rendering the still-functioning monitor useless because the menu could no longer be accessed. This joystick is in a place that will not do that! I dont find the menus very intuitive, they are over-stylized and changed navigation paradigms just to be different. Imagine someone took a good Wustoff kitchen knife set, then went to Toys R Us and glued a bunch of plastic toy sword handles on top of the original handles, and fit the knife set back into a bunch of belt and backstrap holsters on a 2-foot tall plastic ninja robot. Thats what using the menu is like on LG gaming screens now. OK, it might appear to people under 12, but all youve done is make everything harder to find, slower to get at, and clunky to use. I wish they would stop it, but hey you dont have to get in the menu very often, so its still a 5-star screen.

I got this monitor as it was on sale, but now that I am using it, it is not very bright. Now mind you I also have Samsung amazing Odyssey monitors, 28 and 49 as my primary use for gaming devices, but compared to my 34-Inch Lenovo you can see this lacks in the brightness department. Good thing I got for a low price and will only be using it for work stuff. Wish it was more vibrant with the colors and had more menu options to adjust the picture, so maybe I can squeeze some brightness out, but nope. LG has a second strike in my book as a brand.

Picture is a huge upgrade over 1920 /1080p , ultra wide 34inch is huge for pc gaming, no dead pixels! For $300 this is a must buy!

I love this monitor, absolutely perfect for me and my needs for consuming content and playing games. Would have rated 5 stars, but Ive had a problem with the display. When I first got it, I noticed immediately there was a dead pixel. Returned it and got a new one in a timely manner so I wasnt very upset, mistakes happen. Recently though, about 7 months after the replacement arrived I noticed another pixel that could no longer display red. I checked the monitor when I first got it so i know it developed over time, but Im a bit frustrated as Ive had 2 much cheaper monitors for 5 years and they both have no dead pixels. Im not sure if Im unlucky or if its a quirk of the panel, either way I wanted to reflect that in this review.

Pros + This is the first monitor in nearly a decade that did not come with a single dead pixel on my first attempt. + Minimal backlight bleed and minimal IPS glow (again super surprised I lucked out with this panel on my first try.. Must be some good quality control with LG on this product. + 10Bit color looks amazing, the colors pop + 144hz w/ gsync is super smooth, even more so than my acer x34 w/ native gsync module. Also no flickering w/ gsync enabled. + HDR10 - Dont underestimate it, the panel is bright enough that it actually really looks good in certain games like Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and No Mans Sky. While some games look superior in SDR. Try it out for yourself I was pleasantly surprised. Also disable HDR in windows when not using it in gaming as it washes out the colors of desktop. + The OSD menu is the best menu ive ever used on a monitor. I was effortlessly able to navigate through the whole menu on the first attempt without any training or practice. + Price is decent for what you get, my acer x34 cost 1200 at launch and I paid 799 for this. + Zero ghosting, fast response time, no noticeable input lag + Ultrawide (once you go 21:9 you dont go back) Slim bezels. Also 98% Of my games do support ultrawide resolution. If people tell you otherwise they dont own a ultrawide monitor. + Best resolution IMO, not too hard to run as 4k, while still giving quality image. Can run most of my games at around max refresh rate. But i do have a beefy rig 3080 + 5800X. Cons - While the stand is nice and a bit smaller than the acer x34 stand, its still a large stand and takes up a ton of real-estate on your desk. (easily fixable with an affordable desk monitor arm, which I already had) - One year warranty? isnt nearly long enough for a monitor of this price. - No built-in speakers. This isnt a deal breaker but it was nice to keep the desk looking clutter-free, I bought some new speakers though that give superior sound in every single way, so good trade off. 10/10 Rating, best monitor I have ever owned. Great Quality control (or maybe I just got luck). Hopefully I get a long life out of this monitor like I did my acer x34.

For what im going for, this does everything i could want and more. Imo, this monitor has the best frame rate, response time, and image quality for a consumer. Most hardware cant push this many pixels in aaa games to 144fps let alone above, and it also has great color recreation, with over 95%dci-p3 coverage. Its not the brightest screen by any means, so if youre going to be exposed to a lot of direct sunlight, or an extremely bright office consuming media this could cause issues. I can get the cursor to ghost if i flick the mouse fast enough over a dark background, but it doesnt do that with anything else. I turn off motion blur in games because it doesnt ghost the images at all. High frame rate and low response time improved my accuracy significantly. Its not fast enough for actual exports but the esports monitors dont have this color accuracy, which makes long sessions really comfortable. The ultrawide with a slight curve works well, it fills your field of view and is almost like VR. For writing essays, this works well, too. I like to have multiple webpages open at a time and this is almost like having 2 monitors, to work with that are always in alignment. because its curved, you can still comfortably read text at the corners of the ultrawide screen. For the price, this thing is best in class for consumer gaming if you like color accuracy/hdr in your media in the 700$ or less price bracket 2021. No dead pixels, after about 3 and a half months. Will edit if things change.

Let me preface this by saying that I was super worried by this monitor because it would flicker black every 5 seconds. I really didnt want to return it because it had perfect uniformity and no dead pixels. After doing some troubleshooting such as reseating my gpu, the flickering went down to about every 5 minutes. This was both from HDMI and DP ports at all refresh rates. After further research I decided to purchase a new DP cable since many say the included one isnt very good. After using the new cable I havent had any flickering for the entire day. LG should really have better QC on their cables because this could be causing others to RMA the entire monitor possibly due to the cable. The monitor itself has gorgeous colors but only in SDR, the HDR makes it worse and if you have a dark environment your blacks will be muddied and grey. All in all I dont think I can go back to anything else but ultradwide now. The extra width makes it so much more immersive and glad that so many games support it. Its a bigger difference than 4K for PC gaming.

Immerse yourself in the action with this ultra-wide, WQHD Nano IPS curved monitor for gaming. See moving objects on the screen more clearly with a high overclocked* 160 Hz refresh rate and 1ms Motion Blur Reduction. AMD FreeSync Premium support virtually eliminates screen tearing and minimize stutter in high-resolution and fast-paced games for a fast and fluid gaming experience with supported video cards. Dynamic Action Sync reduces input lag and elevates your gameplay, allowing you to respond to your opponents quickly, while Black Stabilizer allows you to see them more clearly in the dark. Use the Crosshair feature for enhanced vision and precision in first-person shooters. Adjust the tilt, height, and pivot for the best ergonomics, ensuring that you have the most comfortable viewing position to play your games. *144Hz (O/C 160Hz) refresh rate for PC games only. Monitor will support console game"s refresh rate when AMD FreeSync is turned off, but only 60 Hz refresh rate only when AMD FreeSync is turned on
