Greater than one weekA little thinner than other professional brands I’ve used and you have to use a few layers but you’d need a couple layers for gesso regardless so it does the job!

> 3 dayAfter all these years of artwork, this is the first time I have tried the Liquitex brand of Gesso. I had it on my list of October purchase, but thanks to Amazon keeping me posted on increases and decreases on all the goodies I want to purchase, I received the notification that the Liquitex Gesso was on sale for half price. I promptly ordered it because I had no idea how long the sale would last. I put it to use this evening on an art project for a competition. Ive always applied Gesso with a brush, but decided to use an art spatula. This was the smoothest Gesso I have ever EVER used. Another plus was the slower drying time so that I could work with the Gesso across a large surface. And something I am very thankful for was the flip cap lid with a hole which allowed me to have control over the amount of Gesso pouring out. All my other Gesso had a jar lid. Even though the spatula method created texture that I liked for an old wood plank appearance, the Gesso dried more smooth without exaggerated lines -- which is what I really needed. I really didnt know what to expect, but this Liquitex Gesso has proved to be all I was hoping for. Thank you, Liquitex and Amazon, for a great product. Additional note: This morning I applied a double thick layer of Gesso to the front of my project to eliminate my previous butched up efforts from mixing glaze wiht too much watercolor pigment. I started spreading the Liquitex GESSO with a brush when I remembered watching a painter use a kitchen spatula. So I started using the silicone cake spatula and am VERY happy with the results. My gesso looks great.

Greater than one weekI loved this product. It does exactly as the title states ...surface prep. I have previously used another brand of gesso but it dried out so I had to purchase more. I decided to use bottle instead of jar and to go with a less expensive brand just in case it dried up as well. I was so happy with this. It is light to medium coverage and build-able. It is excellent as a surface prep. I was even able to do a crackle technique using white glue.

> 3 dayMy daughter asked us to purchase and I didn’t realize the purpose of this is more for prep of a surface than use as paint. This is very thin and almost transparent when used with other colors on a painting canvas. This is not good to use as a white paint, it’s so bad you would need to use the whole bottle or more to even get the white color.

18-11-2024Good product. Can be used directly or thinned with some water for multiple coats on carvings with intricate details without filling in.

> 3 dayIt works fine but my only problem is that it dries matte and I dont like the feeling of the texture it leaves. But if youre going to paint over it anyways then its really not an issue. For me though I do art journaling and have to touch the paper a lot so thats my only issue. Other than that it does what its supposed to do.

16-11-2024I used this product as a primer or base for y acrylic paintings and also on heavy water color paper in order to allow acrylics to work well on the stiffened , thicker watercolor paper. It works well wet for some works and dries super fast on my canvases. Its a flexible and adaptive painters staple. Canvasses are much smoother even with just one gesso coat.
