> 3 dayThis gesso is exactly what I needed to create a surface to paint on my fabric storage bins. I wanted to use acrylic paint and I wanted to prevent myself from having to use a ton of paint due to the absorption of the fabric. Also, just a note that gesso is supposed to be layered on. This one only took 2 layers to get to the solid white I wanted for my “canvas”. I took an art course in collage in which we had to make our own gesso from scratch and then use it to make our canvases (stretch and on wood). You don’t want thick layers and we had to do multiple coats (I think like 5-7, but it’s been years). So don’t expect this to be a one layer project. This isn’t meant to be white paint and it’s meant to build so you get a nice even base on which to actually paint. It’s great and I highly recommend it. I’m finished with 2 of my storage bins and I’ve barely used any of the gesso.

> 3 dayi just got into art and wanted to take the next step and make my own canvases. it can be so much money buying a pre stretched canvas on its own. and you feel guilty when you mess up. not anymore. i stretch everything now and i can have fun. This product is great. i usally do two coats. one coat just brushing up and down, then the other coat going left and right. this way i know for sure the product goes inside all the fibers of the canvas it is a need for any artist

Greater than one weekThis was my first time trying out this product (a Youtuber mentioned gesso does wonders). This stuff dried insanely fast! By the time I was halfway through one swipe on an 8 page, it was completely dry, which then created a lot of clumps/bumps on the page. Will probably never buy again.

> 3 dayI like Gesso, especially when it works well. Sometimes it is hard to spread and messy; this one is no exception. As always, the quality of your work is important. Gesso just gives a canvas more tooth so that you can paint without fear of the canvas soaking up all of your paint. However, if your canvas is from an art store and says triple primed you dont really need this.

21-11-2024I loved this product. It does exactly as the title states ...surface prep. I have previously used another brand of gesso but it dried out so I had to purchase more. I decided to use bottle instead of jar and to go with a less expensive brand just in case it dried up as well. I was so happy with this. It is light to medium coverage and build-able. It is excellent as a surface prep. I was even able to do a crackle technique using white glue.

> 3 dayUpdate: Do not like this Basic gesso from Liquitex!! It come up while painting. If ur doing acrylic pouring or fluid arts be careful it will leave chunky textures if using it with a brush or a belt knife the lighter you go the less visible marks but it still comes up textured and it may not be that pretty to most art techniques. Dries fast! Not permanent! Definitely learned not to sand with this product their original yes but the basic one no! Go for golden acrylics gesso looking for cheaper options are wood look as clear just so or the spray cans for prep works much better than gesso only on certain surfaces it works best on not all. Good product dries fast. Not a fan when it comes to sanding to smooth it & apply another layer made last layer come up. Made the 2nd layer of gesso not sanded. Other then that doing a acrylic pour over many different types Of surfaces with Liquitex Gesso work good. Made acrylic pouring on ceramic tile work/look much better!!

> 3 dayGood product. Can be used directly or thinned with some water for multiple coats on carvings with intricate details without filling in.
