Gesso is used to prep a surface to receive acrylic paint. It has tiny bits of marble sand in an acrylic base so it adds texture to whatever surface the colored paint is applied to. That makes the paint stick better and on porous surfaces it keeps the paint on the surface instead of soaking into the canvas, wood, or paper. Liquitex is one of the top companies and first American company to make artist quality acrylic paints.

Good base, would like if slightly thicker but satisfied overall.

always used liquitex for the last 40 years . Sands beautifully as gives even 3coat pro canvas a perfect work surface.

i just got into art and wanted to take the next step and make my own canvases. it can be so much money buying a pre stretched canvas on its own. and you feel guilty when you mess up. not anymore. i stretch everything now and i can have fun. This product is great. i usally do two coats. one coat just brushing up and down, then the other coat going left and right. this way i know for sure the product goes inside all the fibers of the canvas it is a need for any artist

Came quickly, used it and love it.

This was my first time trying out this product (a Youtuber mentioned gesso does wonders). This stuff dried insanely fast! By the time I was halfway through one swipe on an 8 page, it was completely dry, which then created a lot of clumps/bumps on the page. Will probably never buy again.

it smells like gesso but its not thick like gesso. its about the same consistency as acrylic craft paint.

I used this product as a primer or base for y acrylic paintings and also on heavy water color paper in order to allow acrylics to work well on the stiffened , thicker watercolor paper. It works well wet for some works and dries super fast on my canvases. Its a flexible and adaptive painters staple. Canvasses are much smoother even with just one gesso coat.

This arrived Very fast without defects or damage as promised. It came boxed with a shrink wrap seal to avoid spills and a safety seal under the squeeze top lid that is great for dispensing this medium. Making it very user friendly for both beginners and pros. This preformed excellent as Liquitex brand is well known for. Spreads smooth as silk with excellent coverage. Good price point too, 5 stars.
