Greater than one weekDuring quarantine, several of my friends and cousins purchased paint by numbers to get together virtually and chat and paint. The paint-by-number canvas isnt always a nice painting recipient. I read a review about this product and went all in. I crisscrossed a layer onto the canvas to help the paint have something to grip. It has worked very nicely as Ive gone through the year with two different projects.

> 3 dayAs a newbie just starting to use gesso. Love this black. Covers well with a mat finish. Seems to be a quality surface prep. At firt I thought price was rather high but its well worth it and its less than the Golden brand. One bottle goes a long way.

> 3 dayHas a bit of an odor, like paint for your walls. But works for paper crafting needs. Good buy.

06-06-2025I have tried a few different gessos, and sometimes its hard to find a good intermediate between thickness and opacity. This gesso is relatively thin while still being really opaque. I most recently used it to prep stretched fabric for acrylic paint and it worked really well, especially against the basics version (which had a yellower tint and required more layers). Not only is this really good for surface prep, but I also like to mix it with my lower quality acrylics to make it more opaque or mattify it. Great product that never lets me down!

10-06-2025I love using this gesso to cover the writing lines on the pages of my composition book turned into an art journal and I’m thrilled to have received it so quickly. This gesso allows me to resurface the thin pages of my basic composition book so I can add art over the gessoed pages that can now handle almost any art medium I throw at it.
