Madeline

Nicely introduces a hospital experience along with the Madeline hcarm.

I was thoroughly in love with this story as a child. I bought a coply for a baby shower (first and only one I have been to, being a male) and the parents were both delighted because they had also loved the story when they are small. It has wonderful artwork and is written as poetry that many children will be able to recite from memory.

My daughters love this book. It has lots of opportunities for expressive sounds and faces.

My Grand daughter is 6 yrs. old. She enjoyed the story and the rhyming with a little history. I enjoyed reading it to her. I really liked it because it is a clean and innocent story of a little girl away at boarding school.

I loved this book when I was a child, and bought it for our Grand daughter. Such a cute story.

Childhood favorite!

Wonderful childrens book-perfect to girl up our daughters library from her older brother. Madeline is a strong female protagonist and the rhyming makes the book easy for a parent to read.

This book has interesting illustrations but the narrative is just relatively uninspiring and I hesitate to use the word, stupid. I fail to see what others get from reading this apparent classic. Ending a book with, and there is nothing left to say is a rather amateur way to close a childs book. I think there was nothing left to say about a bunch of orphans in an orphanage who were so lonely and so used to just doing what they were told that they were all willing to have an appendicitis just to get out of that place because the story is just plain dark and depressing. Sure, Madeline handles her life with wit and gusto and inner strength embodying herself in the midst of a structured homogeneous system but so what. The story is about a girl who lives with other orphans, dares to be see the world differently from the others and then gets one of her organs out and a huge scar on her stomach in return. Whats the message here? There are more creative ways to say, be a fighter. I give it a two because the illustrating is sort of good.

Madeline is a classic childrens book. My 3.5 year old daughter loves this book. The illustrations are colorful and fun. She enjoys counting the little girls in rows.
