> 3 dayThis was a fun one because she, Madeline, is stroppy, but not in an ill-tempered or belligerent way. Maybe sassy would be a better adjective? No. A modern word for this very old (written over 60 years ago) young character? Fun. Yes. Madelines fun. Shell jump on a bridge and scare the teacher. Shell even have fun showing you her scar. Bemelmans, who was publishing with Viking, found it hard to get Madeline published. What an industry, to refuse such a sweet story...

> 3 dayIt was scanned off a book. The print is so small I can not read. Seems to be only one story.

> 3 dayThe book is abridged. About 8 pages of pictures and text were completely removed. As a result, the story takes abrupt jumps that require you to stop and get back on track. Also, the rhythm of the poem is interrupted. I had this book as a child and feel the abridge version spoils the story. However, it is a board book that can put up with rough use from my grandchildren. I decided to keep it and buy the unabridged version when they get older. I decided that an introduction to the story is better than not having heard it at all.

> 3 dayWhen I was little I loved reading this wonderful story about a little girl named Madeline. I loved how the story rhymed and how the pictures were so decorative. Bemelman does a wonderful job at telling the story about Madeline the smallest girl of twelve at a school. Madeline gets into mischief but in the end everything turns out all right.

> 3 daySomeone gave this book to my daughter as a gift after she had her appendix removed. We had not been familiar with the book, but found it adorable, enjoyable, and relatable-- even to my other child who, after seeing all the gifts my daughter received, said that she wanted her have her appendix removed too. If I hear of another little girl needing her appendix removed, Ill be paying it forward by sending a copy.
