I own 3, one in the garage, one in the house and one in my suv. As someone who owned a dyson handheld and other cheaper models over the years, lack of suction and just really poor battery time (5-8min) made them go in the garbage quickly. This baby I have had for 3+ years and man they still go strong, I have tons of makita batteries so if it dies I pop in another. Easily has 30min run time on high. Buy the cyclone attachment if your using it in the house as it works well. We have a robot vac in the house and use this for spot cleaning and the stairs. In the garage it’s excellent and great for keeping the car clean.

I recently purchased a new Mikita drill and impact driver and noticed this handheld vacuum. My wife has been looking for a small cordless vacuum so I grabbed this with the idea I will have extra batteries that we could share. She wanted a small cordless for touch up jobs around the house that don’t need the big floor vacuum so we gave this a try and wow pretty impressed. For its size it really does a decent job much better than we expected. Noise level it is a little higher than a cordless drill so not too loud. Battery life seems really good as well. I picked up a spare 4.0 Ah battery to share between the Makita tools we have and the battery is still showing full after several uses. So if you have any Makita cordless tools this would be a good addition to your arsenal. It is great for quick cleanups or in between using the large floor vacuum. The floor attachment works well on hardwood floors and carpet.

What do I like about this... Everything! It is light weight, easy to use, attachments easy to swap out. Battery and charger expertly made. Charger has a fan to keep it cool while fast charging. Light indicates good condition, beeps when done, also indicates if battery has issues. I used this as soon as it charged. (20 min) Picked up more than my regular vacuum designed for pet hair. It took about 5 minutes to fast clean my no pile wall to wall carpet. A 20 x 14 foot room. Glitter, circle dots, hair, grass, and dirt. I wasnt expecting 5 minutes to fill the tank! The floor didnt look dirty except a little light glitter form a dress and a couple of hole punches that missed the trashcan. I should have opened it over a trash can. My mistake underestimating what it accomplished for test run. Of course it cleaned up my mistake quick. Then I re-dumped and disaster avoided. I have always loved Makita tools but didnt think I would be the proud owner of 0ne. I have ordered the leaf blower and a tool collection of drills. If they work half as well I will be a customer for life. Seller got it to me a day ahead of schedule.

With three hairy, constantly shedding dogs in our 6,000 sq ft house, this makes capturing those inevitable dust bunnies an easy task. Add to that the light weight, good power, and standard Makita batteries (which we have plenty of) this not only saves time but our backs as well as we can just walk around and make quick work of our daily cleaning task.

Really convenient not to have to deal with a cord and hose to pick up hair, dust and light debris. Suction is adequate but does not compete with my shop vac. Easy to empty and store on included bracket.

Dust cup is very small, filter inside takes up more than half the available space. Keep a garbage can handy for more than just a spot of dust. Not useful for vacuuming your car. Might be good for following your cat around, big Husky? get something larger. Just doesnt have the capacity to hold much. More of a light duster than a project clean up.

I trust Makita product. It is very reliable and durable. Quality of this product also meets Makita quality standard, I believe. However, what I dont like is how we damp the collected dust. The dust sticks to filter inside and I need to use my hand to remove them. My hands get dirty, eventually. It could have been a much better product if we have hands-free damping mechanism.

I bought this for a bathroom remodel project where I didnt have a lot of space for my large shop vacuum. I also combined this with a cyclone attachment after reading other reviews about the filter getting clogged. Even with using the cyclone, the main filter still clogs quickly and causes it to not suck anymore. The filter is easy to clean and get it back up and sucking but its still inconvenient.

Same cracks as everyone else. Design flaw. Uneven force will be applied to this spot when connecting and using daily. The crack WILL happen eventually to each and every unit; whether it will break catastrophically will vary. I did the same thing as AJ, one of the reviewers here by cutting off the bottom of a 30mm A-10 Warthog shot glass and used the tube as reinforcement. I had 6 of those shot glasses lying around so his idea made wonders. What I did extra was adding JB Weld to both surfaces (scuff the plastic and metal before applying the glue). I hammered the tube down gently. Once its settled, this spot becomes much stronger and doesnt look ugly. This repair should be done early on instead of waiting till the cracks develop further. BTW, the new version of this vacuum now uses clip in style instead of friction - which I believe to be no good because the weak spot remains weak while you no longer have the option to mend it by adding a straight tube. The picture shows that I cut the tube longer to the edge of spout. Picture uploading function is not available now. Still dont know why there is no uploading pic button anymore...
