I use Apple HomeKit, everything I have is HomeKit compatible, and this works like a charm! I have an outside connected to my landscape lighting, and I have an automated to come on at sunset and go off at 2 AM, and it works perfect every single time! Great product, pretty good price! Works as advertised

This is the second one I’ve tried and both were problematic. I had no problems returning them and receiving credit.

No need to read the instructions, just open home app and scan.

This smart plug is compatible with HomeKit, Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant which sounds great but this makes it difficult to set up as HomeKit is the preferred method so using Alexa didnt work initially.

Ive used the GE equivalent and other outdoor smart outlet plugs before. But Ive never used one where I *must* go online and register with the manufacturer (meross) to use it. I have more apps and logins than I ever want to see, but here comes another one! The meross site takes a while (10 minutes or more?) to show the device to Smartthings or HomeKit *after* I registered. I thought it would be visible immediately - it wasnt. Im moderately experienced using smart lights, switches, outlets, etc, but Ive never had to go to a separate site, install an app, create a login and password and then WAIT 10-20 minutes - all to allow my smart home app to SEE the outlet? And it looks like the outlet will not work if my smart home app isnt connected with my meross login and password? WHAT?! Next time, Ill just pay $10 or $20 more and get a smart outlet that doesnt require additional external steps. Compatible with Smartthings? Yeah, sort of.

Let me start with build quality. Its questionable. I ordered two. One came with an open crack between the two halves of the plastic body because the unit had not been assembled correctly. Fortunately, I was able to take it apart and re-assemble it. It is worth noting that there are no rubber gaskets or other seals to keep water out of the main housing. The two rubber outlet covers which were black in the product photos are actually yellow. They are very supple and seem to provide a good seal when inserted into the receptacles. (The only seal in the entire product.) However, when they are not inserted into the receptacles, they hang between the two receptacles from a very, very thin strip of rubber. It is not hard to imagine them getting accidentally torn off, but thats not even the biggest problem with them. It is almost impossible to plug in two cords at the same time because the products two receptacles are placed fairly close together and those hanging covers get in the way. You have to really pull the covers out of the way with some force to insert a second plug. It seems inevitable that the rubber covers will get torn off. If the designers had hung the covers in any other direction, this problem would have been averted. Similar products all get this right. Only meross gets it wrong. (Its worth noting that meross offers another version of this product—same model number but different housing—that does solve this problem...while creating another.) The biggest design hassle for me is the plug end of this product—the one that gets inserted into your AC receptacle. This is a product designed to be used outdoors. The designer should absolutely assume it is going to be plugged in inside a weather housing, yet meross drops the ball here too. The plug points down at a 90-degree angle. This means if you plug it into the top outlet, you cant use the bottom outlet. If you plug it into the bottom outlet, you cant close the door of the weather housing. If you want to use two of these units together, forget it. You cant. Attaching the cord to the plug at a 45-degree angle would have completely solved this problem. As is, there is no solution. So is there anything good about this product? Absolutely. It was easy to connect to HomeKit. Once you switch your iPhone over to the products ad hoc wifi signal while you set it up, everything works exactly like it should. And the product allows you to control each outlet independently. In fact, functionally, this product checks all the boxes. Unfortunately, its physical design is a deal killer.

Usually, HomeKit devices are trivial to set up. This one was just weird. But once I got it working, it has been bulletproof. A good device at a great price, as long as you’re willing to fiddle a bit to begin with.

Works well and you can control each outlet in the plug separately, which the WeMo can not do. It has a bit of a struggle connecting to your 2.4GHz WiFi, so be patient. You may need to “disable” your 5GHz WiFi during the pairing process. The WeMo found the 2.4GHz WiFi just fun even with the 5GHz turned on, but not this one. I had to turn off my 5GHz WiFi band then plug in the adapter, then begging the pairing process.

Was able to set this up immediately from HomeKit (unlike my WeMo plugs which had a 50/50 success rate). At first I thought both outlets were switched together, but realized HomeKit grouped both outlets as a pair in the app. So, best of both worlds, I can both outlets independently, or together. This allowed me to dump two of my other smart plugs and a splitter cable clean up the clutter behind the bookshelf. The fact that its weather proof is just a bonus to its versatility. For now, the Meross is still required if you want to update firmware. Its not a bad, but I prefer the unity of HomeKit to control all my devices. Do make sure you have good WiFi around where this is plugged in. I have the Meross garage door opener as well and both seem to be sensitive to poor wifi signal. Havent had any issues, but both devices almost constantly show me in red quality at ~72% signal. They still work like clockwork though, so it may not be that big of a deal, YMMV.

I use this with my Home app (Apple) out front of my house. One outlet is for my car charger, the other is for decorative lights. I have peak electric hours I dont want to be charging my car, so the one outlet is set to turn off during certain hours. The other outlet I have set to turn the lights on at sunset and to turn off at sunrise. Its great being able to tell the device to do two different things. Its well build, it looks nice, and works really well.
