Micro Swiss All Metal Hotend with Slotted Cooling Block for Wanhao i3 w/.4mm Nozzle

> 24 hourI bought two of the cheaper knock-off all metal hotends you can find here on Amazon. In both cases I had trouble with heat creep causing clogging after several hours of printing PLA at 200 degrees. In one case I purchased a new nozzle and heatbreak from the same supplier as the knock-off hotend, and the nozzle was so poorly machined that it wouldn’t extrude at all. The .4mm hole was almost completely occluded with metal. Perhaps a drill or machining chip? Then I bough the Micro Swiss all Metal hotend for my Maker Select v2 3D printer. Should have bought this to begin with. My son has been printing Mandalorian armor almost non-stop for a week. 20-26 hour prints. Not a single clog or air print. Works like a charm! I don’t know what all the differences are, but Micro Swiss has something the knock-offs don’t have. It just works. First of all, the steel lower section is tightly fitted to the aluminum section of the heatbreak. The top hole, where the filament enters the hot end, is deeper and smoother making it easier to feed new filament in. The nozzle is clean and well made. The inside also seems smoother than the others. I’m very pleased with this hotend. I wasted over $50 on the knock-offs. Wish I had just bought this one instead. Lesson learned!

> 24 hourFollowed instructions to a T and made sure that the thermal barrier tube and nozzle were flush. The assembly leaked and oozed out of the heating block regardless of how many times I tried to repeat the instructions.

> 24 hourFirst and foremost, I would like to begin this review by stating that I did in fact receive the all metal hot end from Micro Swiss in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. Its made well, its made VERY well. The tolerances on the threads and bore are spot on, and leave little room for error. In one of the pictures Im attaching you will be able to see the clearance between the barrel and the slotted cooling block. Its so perfectly fit in there that Micro Swiss actually recommends NOT using thermal compound to improve thermal transfer. This allows the upper portion of the barrel to stay below that dreadful glass transition temperature while allowing the lower barrel and heating block to melt to its hearts content. What this means for the user is that there are no jams from premature softening before diameter reductions. And since the hot end is all metal, you can print any material you wish, because you are no longer limited by that 240 degree degradation temperature of PTFE (which is present in almost all commercial hot ends). This opens the door to many filaments, such as HTPLA, Nylon, and PETG, all while printing with beautiful consistency. I highly recommend this hot end to anyone looking to take the next step with their 3D printer. Word of caution! the threading this item does NOT fit most heater blocks, and it is recommended (that if you chose not to use this with a wanhao), you purchase a HotBlock from WMD Products, which is custom made to fit this all metal hot end. Perfect for a conversion on any MK style printer (little bit of a hassle converting J-Head style printers).

> 24 hourExcellent all metal replacement for MK10 hotend on several models. I used it for a Wanhao Duplicator I3 v2.1 and have had no issues with them. They work really well with PLA, PETG, ABS, and wood so far for me. No worries of melting PTFE liners or whatnot. Following the instructions is key to success, however they are pretty simple/ My only gripe, which is not a problem with Micro Swiss is that nozzles are a bit pricey(but really nice), and I would like a cheaper alternative/source for replacements. I like to have several nozzles around, but at $15/piece for the basic one, this is a bit impractical.

> 24 hourObviously a used return, barrel was chewed up like it was tighted with pliers and wouldn’t fit in the block. Should have bought 10 from China for less money and at least had something I could use
