I recently upgraded my Monoprice unit with this hotend primarily because I dont want to have to deal with tearing it apart every so often to replace the PTFE tube. Im not so interested about running at higher temperatures, but at least that option is now available. So far, its been running beautifully. Ive been running at lower temperatures while simultaneously printing at faster speeds without any problems. As a result, the amount of residual strings has vastly decreased and the quality of the prints seems to be a lot better as well, although that could easily be confirmation bias. Still, many problems that I was having with the stock front end and PTFE tube have been decreased or eliminated, and its nice to run my prints at a cooler temp but at faster speeds with no apparent impact in quality. Yes, PTFE tubes are a lot cheaper. But if this wont break your bank account and youre going to tear your extruder apart anyway, you should strongly consider upgrading to this and getting rid of the need for PTFE tubes.

It is GREAT, better than the ad says.

I realize I am in the minority here, but I wasnt too thrilled with the Hotend Kit. I may have expected too much from it. I had much better success and 3D prints using the stock set-up on the i3 Plus.

Its an easy and well worth the time upgrade. I havent experienced any problems so far and I prints are better for it. I can comfortably print at higher temps and less retraction.

best upgrade for the wanhao duplicator i3 plus!

This was one of three upgrades to my Duplicator I3 that I would say everyone should do. The difference in print quality has been night and day with this upgrade. I highly recommend it.

Worked fine at first. But quickly went south. Had to take it apart and xlean it, same issuesm. Upgrqxed cooling block. Better but still clogging issues. Bad underextrusion. And worse yet, it LEAKS. I tightened while hot, it leaks. Tried everything short of using teflon tape. Still leaks. PLA, PETG, whatever. Quality of construction and precision, just doesnt perform.

I could go on and on about this MS hot end, but all I will say is I wish I did this upgrade sooner. Filament feeds so much more smoothly and I dont have clogs, like I would get with the stock hot end on my Monoprice Maker Select Plus (Wanhao i3 plus) with the stupid PTFE tube. I found that I need to print 5-10 degrees hotter, but things print so much better. This upgrade is a must.

I bought this for my 16th year old brothers birthday gift, so he could fix the broken part on his 3D Printer.

This is Micro Swiss All Metal Hot end kit with redesigned cooling block for Wenham i3, Wenham i3 Plus and all other i3 clones with the following improvements: Slotted Clamping system No set screw to ding and damage thermal tube Significantly better heat transfer (this is a big one!!!) Easier disassemble and adjustments Precise control on bore diameter Micro Swiss All Metal Hot end Kit Features: All metal hot end upgrade for MK10 style extruders. This upgrade includes a modified thermal barrier tube and modified nozzle with modified cooling block. Thermal barrier tube is made from 2 different materials. The lower thermal break is made from stainless steel and the colder upper part is made from aluminium. Stainless steel was used for thermal break because it offers low thermal conductivity and aluminium was used for the upper portion because it has a lot better thermal conductivity, to carry away any heat from the filament. All metal hot end will let you print at much higher temperature than possible with original PTFE lined one. Another benefit of an all metal hot end design is more consistent melt chamber control. During slow extrusion rate, in PTFE lined hot end, transition zone from solid to molten plastic tends to creep upward creating more stringy prints. With all metal design a transition zone is always constant, being located right at the heat break. With fast extrusion rate, PTFE tube doesn"t have enough thermal conductivity to properly melt all the plastic coming out. On MK10 extruders that limitation happens around 60 mm/s, depending on nozzle size. All metal hot end solves this problem, plastic is surrounded by thermally conductive nozzle throughout its length. Orifice size available:.2mm,.3mm,.4mm,.5mm,.6mm,.8mm, 1mm, 1.2mm Kit will fit: Wenham i3 Wenham i3 Plus Moonrise Maker Select 3D Printer v2 Moonrise Maker Select Plus Cocoon Create 3D Printer Kit includes 1 Plated Brass Wear Resistant Nozzle 1 Thermal tube 1 Slotted Cooling block Installation Instructions
