Micro Swiss All Metal Hotend with Slotted Cooling Block for Wanhao i3 w/.4mm Nozzle

07-06-2025I recently upgraded my Monoprice unit with this hotend primarily because I dont want to have to deal with tearing it apart every so often to replace the PTFE tube. Im not so interested about running at higher temperatures, but at least that option is now available. So far, its been running beautifully. Ive been running at lower temperatures while simultaneously printing at faster speeds without any problems. As a result, the amount of residual strings has vastly decreased and the quality of the prints seems to be a lot better as well, although that could easily be confirmation bias. Still, many problems that I was having with the stock front end and PTFE tube have been decreased or eliminated, and its nice to run my prints at a cooler temp but at faster speeds with no apparent impact in quality. Yes, PTFE tubes are a lot cheaper. But if this wont break your bank account and youre going to tear your extruder apart anyway, you should strongly consider upgrading to this and getting rid of the need for PTFE tubes.

> 3 dayI realize I am in the minority here, but I wasnt too thrilled with the Hotend Kit. I may have expected too much from it. I had much better success and 3D prints using the stock set-up on the i3 Plus.

> 3 dayIts an easy and well worth the time upgrade. I havent experienced any problems so far and I prints are better for it. I can comfortably print at higher temps and less retraction.

> 3 dayThis was one of three upgrades to my Duplicator I3 that I would say everyone should do. The difference in print quality has been night and day with this upgrade. I highly recommend it.

> 3 dayWorked fine at first. But quickly went south. Had to take it apart and xlean it, same issuesm. Upgrqxed cooling block. Better but still clogging issues. Bad underextrusion. And worse yet, it LEAKS. I tightened while hot, it leaks. Tried everything short of using teflon tape. Still leaks. PLA, PETG, whatever. Quality of construction and precision, just doesnt perform.

Greater than one weekI could go on and on about this MS hot end, but all I will say is I wish I did this upgrade sooner. Filament feeds so much more smoothly and I dont have clogs, like I would get with the stock hot end on my Monoprice Maker Select Plus (Wanhao i3 plus) with the stupid PTFE tube. I found that I need to print 5-10 degrees hotter, but things print so much better. This upgrade is a must.

Greater than one weekI bought this for my 16th year old brothers birthday gift, so he could fix the broken part on his 3D Printer.
