Micro Swiss Direct Drive Extruder for Creality CR-10 / Ender 3 Printers

My Ender 3 needed a new hot end and I was deciding between this and the basic Micro Swiss hot end. I decided to take the jump and get the more expensive one and I will never be looking back! MicroSwiss made this incredibly easy to assemble and dial in, once you make a couple changes to firmware you’re ready to make some accurate prints!

I own an Ender 3 v2, I thinks its reasonable to say its a VERY popular start point. Having to print your own shroud is one thing, but theres no holes or bracket for mounting my CR touch. Its getting returned

My prints were mostly coming out fine, as long as I was using PLA. But once I started using PETG, I started having issues, mostly just prints not completing. After this upgrade, I can start a PETG print and just walk away. Adhesion is perfect, and the rest of the print finishes flawlessly. Make sure to adjust your refraction settings to 1.5mm as the instructions say, and you should have no issues.

The main issue I had with this was changing the X & Y offsets. I tried with changing settings in Cura with no avail. I went into the Marlin Code and edited it in there myself. Theres YouTube videos on how to do that, but the manufacturers website will tell where to go. I have included it with this review. Since it is smaller form factor than the Ender 3s factory model you will need to change it.

Best upgrade you can do. Calibrate your E-steps, reset your home location and you’re good to go. Eliminating my Bowden tube has been he best thing ever.

This is an update to my last response. I thought it was the all metal hotend that was the problem with it not printing right but it was actually that since I have a enclosure and have no air flow the filament was just extruding no sticking or anything so this is a great product just make sure if you have an enclosure keep the door of it open if your printer istn printing right.

After getting my printer setup properly and tuning the profile settings, I was able to get some great results from this product. Well worth the price for the direct drive chassis with the all-metal hotend included. If I can get a lighter stepper motor for the extruder I could push this setup even faster.

retracting hot filament causes the filament to cool in the throat which immediately clogs it. some people online suggest seasoning it like a cast iron skillet, but I have seen no instructions from microswiss on doing this. If there is a solution microswiss, please let me know, I would love to find out that this is user error so I can change this review, I want, so badly, to love this product, but currently, it is absolutely unusable.
