I have tried several of these classic Swedish knives, and this one is my favorite so far. There is something charming about the original red wood handles, but the rubber handle on this one affords a better grip. The sheath holds the knife securely, and looks and feels better than the rather cheesy plastic sheath that come with the wood handles. The Scandinavian grind takes a very keen edge that is easy to keep sharp. The carbon steel blade will stain very easily, and requires some care (wipe it dry after use) but seems to resist rust a bit better than the Opinel, the similarly inexpensive French utility folder.

This knife is awesome. Even though I make my own knives, you cant beat the quality of knives that Morakniv makes, for the price you pay. I really love the thicker blade on this model. Ive batoned wood with it, carved with it, cut leather patterns with it, cut rope/line with it, and a whole slew of other stuff. Like all Morakniv knives it comes from the factory razor sharp, and it holds its edge a very long time. If you are looking for a great all around camping backpacking knife this is it. Its money well spent.

What can I say? This knife is a Swedish Morakniv. All around heavy duty, no frills, working knife. Holds an edge, and is just about ready for anything you throw at it. These are so well made, in fact, that I am really surprised that they are not selling for more. Great price! Great knife! More of these will be on order soon.

Given the price this knife is amazing. The blade is incredibly sharp and feels very strong. the handle is comfortable. The sheath is the same nice solid plastic as the handle and has some kind of internal catch that locks the knife in place, so you have to tug it to remove it. This seems a good safety feature. Very impressed.

The Mora Companion Heavy Duty is a powerful tool for bushcrafters, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. Suitable for batoning, the Companion Heavy Duty features a thick, 1/8-inch (3.2mm) carbon steel blade with a slightly blunter 27 Degree edge angle for high load capacity and maximum sharpness resistance. The Companion HD has an extra large ergonomic handle with a soft high-friction grip. The classic scandi grind combined with high quality carbon steel makes the knife easy to resharpen. Mora knives made from high carbon steel achieve high hardness, sharpen easily and are exceptionally tough. High carbon steels are preferred in applications that demand durability and frequent regrinding. The material is harder than stainless steel, allowing it to hold a sharper and more durably acute edge. Mora Knives are made from high-quality carbon steel. The carbon knife steels are characterized by ultra-fine carbides that result in superb forging and hardening properties. The absence of large carbide deposits promotes excellent edge sharpness for optimum cutting performance. Morakniv has been manufacturing the highest-quality knives in Mora, Sweden since 1891. Professionals worldwide trust the quality materials and fine craftsmanship of Mora Knives. Mora knives feature ergonomically-designed handles and employ premium-quality knife steel that is optimally adapted to the task for which the knife is intended.
