Good tool, was able to replace my chain in no time. I dont do this for a living, so I cant comment on its reliability, but it looks like a great addition to my (hobbyist) mechanic toolbox. Recommend it.

I like this kit. Busted the chain breaker point (or whatever its called) on the last one due to misalignment. This one works great and is very simple to use due to the writing on it.

If you work on motorcycles this is the tool to buy to replace the chain. I tried a cheaper tool like this one at first and it broke on the first use. The pins bent and the bolt snapped. If you don’t want to lose money like I did buy the Motion Pro Brand.

Did a nice job of punching out a DID 525 chain and installing a new one. I did grind off the pin heads before driving them. I dont know whether the manufacturer claims this is unnecessary, but it seems like common sense to do it. Those pins are tough. Did a great job of peening the new pins, too. The case is cheap and flimsy and came cracked. Thats a bummer because I prefer to buy high-quality tools and expect them to last. The case is part of the tool, which keeps the tool components secure and easy to find. Minus one star.

Motion Pro makes amazing tools, and this one is no different. Do cheaper chain breakers work just as well? Totally. This one is just such a breeze. Even chains that dont look like theyll work with this thing get beautifully split-- no problem. Its one of those tools you dont think you care about until you really get to use it and realize how much easier it is to use than similar chain tools. For reference, I used this to blast off my 2021 KTM 890 Adventure Rs riveted chain to shorten and install a nice x-ring masterlink chain. After grinding one face of the rivets, I realized the rivets were slightly too big to nicely sit in the chain tools Break hole. I decided to try breaking it anyway, and to my surprise, this thing just ate up that rivet. Punching through the masterlink chain was even easier. It seriously took me 15 minutes to do a job that has taken an hour before.

As another reviewer (Phatty) noted, on the first use the tip of the drive bolt fractured. It should be noted that there was minimal force involved in pressing out the pin. This type of failure is indicative of improper heat treating. However, I was able to continue using the tool to press out 3 more pins to complete the job but the fracturing got progressively worse. I filled out a contact us form on the manufacturers web site 2 weeks ago but havent received a response. They now have a replacement part available [...] for $8 but I fail to see why I should have to pay for a defective part. I realize that sometimes defective products get out on the shelves and when a manufacturer makes good on the product, I dont hold it against them. But when Im totally ignored, thats the last time I buy their products.

I used it on a 530 chain, the max size its rated for. Did a great job for my first attempt at riveting a chain. I would recommend it for the price and they shipped same day I believe. Positive experience!
