I purchased this in 2015. It was working fine until my computer quit. Once the PC was repaired (new logic board) I had to reinstall all my software. When I reinstalled dragon the Serial number no longer worked. I called Nuance and they said since 13 is no longer supported I cannot activate it. THAT IS THEFT!

I very useful tool. I have never been a typist, came through the system before men were encouraged to take typing. When I was appointed as Secretary of our Water Board it became critical for me to find an effective way to produce Board Meeting minutes. I saw an add one evening on the TV and invested in the product. I have been a fan ever since and have begun using it in more of the ways possible in my daily writing activities, especially with the computer. I enjoy not having to depend on others to do this work for me, especially as doing it myself allows me to edit my work while typing it. This is my 3rd upgrade. I encourage everyone who cant type 90 words a minute to consider this as a very workable solution.

I am not an author but I occasionally write long e-mail messages. I bought this package because I was curious what voice recognition capability I could purchase for less than forty dollars. (My Windows 8.1 computer fortunately already contained ample RAM; Dragon is a memory hog.) I was surprised when I opened that package. In addition to the software DVD and brief instructions, the package contained a communications-grade wired stereo headset with attached boom microphone. The headset and microphone plug into the mini-jacks on the front of most desktop computers. The package also contains an adapter that will connect the headset and microphone to a single USB 2.0 port. Software installation is straightforward but ponderous. The installation user interface does not indicate ongoing progress, and I wondered if I was stalled in mid-install. After a long wait, installation finished normally. After registering the Dragon software on the Nuance Communications website, microphone proper operation is verified and Dragon then presents an interactive tutorial. The tutorial introduces voice recognition dictation concepts (explicit capitalization and explicit punctuation), and the tutorial highlights the online help functions available during Dragon dictation. I played with Dragon while using Microsoft Notepad, and I was impressed with Dragons accuracy and vocabulary, but voice recognition dictation (explicit capitalization and explicit punctuation) IMO is cumbersome, and only capitalization will improve as you personalize Dragons vocabulary. A later problem: Dragon attaches two apps to Internet Explorer, and my IE 11 began crashing in non-Dragon use. I used the IE star -> Manage add-ons function to disable the two Dragon-supplied apps. Instead of Dragon direct dictation with IE, I will dictate e-mail messages into Notepad, and then copy and paste the messages into my e-mail program, a practical compromise.

Spent over three hours trying to get it to work. Found a telephone number thru Google and made two calls to tech service. This was very disappointing. I told them the earphones and mic were defective They ran me through all the start up aND STILL THE MIC WOULD NOT WORK. They then told me my sound card was defective. I purchased a new mic and earphones and the first time I tried it. It worked great. No wonder they dont put their telephone number anywhere in their package. Their tech service is terrible.

I am so grateful for this product! I bought it on July 6th, 2017 and sporadically trained my dragon over the next month, though it didnt take much time for dragon and I to understand each other. At 45 years old, I went back to college... I did not know where going back to college would lead me because I really didn’t plan to be there. My retirement came early due to a disability caused by an hereditary motor-sensory nerve disorder, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT). I was comfortable raising children and sending them off to college. Being complacent with life as it was, I couldn’t foresee anything changing. It wasn’t until I fatefully ended up at the college orientation for my boyfriend (who was going back to college for additional welding certificates), did I realize that I could strive for a better future for myself and my family. Going back to school changed my path andupended my complacency. But I was worried. Prior to CMT, I typed 122 wpm, after CMT I can still type 60ish wpm, but that is only if I am looking directly at the keyboard. If I take my eyes off the keyboard it is incoherant, because I can no longer feel the keys. Using Dragons talk-to-text technology allows me to type fast without mistakes, without frustration, and without additional strain on my atrophying fingers/hands/wrists. I am happy to announce, that after 5 semesters I graduated with 2 associate degrees in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, while earning Scholastic awards for both for having the highest GPA for both. 46 years old, disabled and 4.0 GPA... Heck ya!!! At graduation I looked like Michael Phelps up there with all my medals! Id also like to note: The headset that comes in the box gave me an awful headache, but so do most headbands, so I am very glad that I bought the bundle that included the Koss CS100 Speech Recognition Computer Headset. Furthermore, I bought, but never read the book The Writers Guide to Training Your Dragon: Using Speech Recognition Software to Dictate Your Book and Supercharge Your Writing Workflow (Dictation Mastery for PC and Mac). I personally didnt need it, but others might.

I had this on my PC at one point and then I had to reinstall everything and suddenly Dragon wouldnt install. It kept asking for some special program first. I called the help desk and the next thing I knew I was getting notices that people were trying to access my financial accounts and personal information. What Dragons help desk did with my personal information, I dont know. Sell it? Give it away? Or, did the person on the phone for Dragon have a side business trying to hack customers private accounts, bank, credit, etc.? Luckily, they didnt get far, as far as I know. I never did get it to work again, so I thought Id take a chance and buy a new copy, but instantly I ran into installation errors saying it needed some sort of program to run first and I had to dig into the software to find it. Why doesnt the software do it by itself? Even when I found and ran that program, it stalled and wouldnt install either. I give up. What a horrible company and program! They are a monopoly worth being investigated by the Feds. We need another company to compete with Dragon and give customers better choices.

I am a Computer Tech and I use this for emails and creating detailed Trouble Tickets. Mostly this is pretty good, but sometimes it misunderstands me. As I said, I am a PC Tech. I can be doing Tickets for clients and say Installed a Printer. Instead of the typed message, Windows opens the New Printer Wizard. Once I said Rebooted the PC and DNS almost rebooted my PC. Ive tried turning off the Commands portion, but that does restrict the functionality of the PC. BTW, it does not type curse words. You still have to delete the gibberish, but at least it is not profane. :)

I’ve been using the various editions of Dragon ever since it came out. It is one of the most useful things for computer use. If one needs to do any significant amount of writing it is essential. I find that it is 90% accurate right out of the box, and approaching 100% after a little bit of use. I am of course writing this with Dragon and I will note any errors that it makes. I can see how some people might have some difficulty with it, particularly those who aren’t that computer savvy. One may have to adjust their sound settings for example. And of course having a competent computer is required. I just purchased this version for a new laptop. It is one half the price as the Nuance website. And the basic version does come with a Nuance headset. Which brings me to virtually my only complaint. The headset has excellent audio quality. But for the life of me I have yet to find any reasonably priced headset that doesn’t squeeze my head too tightly. I am trying to bend this one out so that it is a little more comfortable. Actually I am writing this using Amazon’s earbuds with microphone. Much more comfortable. I’ve also tried a Bluetooth headset designed more for listening than dictating, and the audio quality was not sufficient. I am going to look into a reasonably priced dictating Bluetooth headset which would be extremely convenient. You may have noticed that Dragon has not made a mistake yet even though I got it yesterday, and have only used it a couple of times.

This was a gift for my dad. He had one I bought for him and then had to get a new PC the Dragon did not copy over. So I bought him a new one for his birthday. NOT USER FRIENDLY as far as the set up. He has had to have some come over several times to try to get it installed and is very frustrated. I will not be replacing this again for him I will be looking into a different product and make sure its easily installed

I used to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking back in 2012 when I first started freelance writing. I found it to be extremely helpful and my accuracy was easily at 99.5% or higher. However, I stopped using it for some reason. But, Im back at it again. I picked up the 13.0 edition, hoping that it would work with Windows 10, and it has not had any problems at all. I did a little accuracy training, and now this thing is quite accurate. I write anywhere from 1,000 to 4,000 words per day using DNS and have been doing so for the past month or so. I write faster and better now that I am actually saying the sentences out loud, as opposed to typing them out and hoping they flow well during the editing process. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to preserve their hands and/or increase their productivity.
