> 3 dayNot going into length on this. But after 2 years, white dots are beginning to take over the screen. This is a failing DMD chip. Contacted technical support who informed me the chip was $400. Then theres a $110 cost, right out of the gate. Plus shipping and Im sure other fees. To fix a chip will cost the same as a new projector. Not to mention the part is not in stock. I informed them that this will prevent me from ever purchasing another Optoma product. And that Id share my experience. Didnt seem to matter. I would encourage you to steer clear.

> 3 dayGreat Value for picture quality. however the UI for menu is very archaic. one of the reasons i bought this projector was for the HDMI CEC, but this projectors CEC was compatible with Roku Streambar Pros HDMI ARC. This unit also only has a 3.5 stereo jackpot audio output. for $600 i would expect to have at least an optical output or 12v trigger output.

> 3 dayI recently purchased a projector from optoma. I head a pop and saw a flame. I asked for a return and they refused. If you accidentally leave it on at night it could cause a fire. This product is not safe and should not be purchased or sold.

Memoria Matters
Greater than one weekHusband and I bought this to replace a similar Optoma DLP projector that we had for ~6 years. For the same price point now, this one is way brighter. We used to have to wait until dark to see anything properly on a projector, but this one is still super clear in the middle of the day (barring direct sunlight of course). That aspect alone is worth the upgrade for us, because we can get way more use out of it. The picture is very good; colors are bright and accurate. I also love the focus knob; since its so big, it offers very fine control and its easy to get it focused perfectly. The only cons I have are small: (1) It takes a really long time to turn on and switch inputs compared to other projectors Ive had. Not a big deal, just a little annoying. (2) No dust filter! I dont know why Optoma doesnt think dust filters are necessary. Apparently they only include them in dusty climates, whatever that means. Without one, dust will collect in the projector and make it more likely to overheat and have parts break down (thats what happened to our last one multiple times). If you are tech savvy enough, you can open the projector up every so often and vacuum the dust out to make sure the projector lasts a long time. Also just make sure you place it in a well-ventilated spot / not right up against a wall and definitely not in an enclosed space like a cubby shelf. Dont just rely on the projector telling you when its too hot, something could be damaged or starting to melt a little before the built-in sensors go off. For future reference, if something does go wrong, dont be afraid to fix it yourself. The most common issue Ive had with DLP projectors is a bad color wheel. If your colors start flashing weirdly and you hear whirring/clicking from the projector, its probably the color wheel. You can get a new one online for <$30 and replace it yourself. Just look up a video.

> 3 dayIts been a pretty solid unit up until the last couple of months. Fan noise is a little high under certain operation modes, but the biggest issue I have is dead pixels. It started out as a few but has progressed steadily over the last month or two to the point where its very noticeable. Im sure I have no more warranty coverage at this point, so Im guessing Ill be replacing it soon.

Greater than one weekThis projector is really awesome! Audio out jack, USB power port for stuff like fire sticks. The quality is really good too, very bright as well. You dont need to completely black out a room, this works OK with natural light depending on how much is coming in. It does sometimes give me trouble jumping around looking for a signal. I have a unique setup though, so some of it maybe just me. Most noticeable when playing windows games and resolution change or refresh rate changes. Doesnt seem to like 60hz for some reason. Works fine on the fire stick though! The fan is really quiet too, I barely hear it on the ceiling. My old projector was way louder than this. Another thing I find a little annoying is the remote brightness is so intense when youre tired late at night with lights off or dim. Wish you could control that brightness. Ive got about 720hrs in the lamp so far! Update: 11 months later pixels have started going out on the project

> 3 dayWhat projector only comes with vertical keystone!? Not everyone can use the projector straight on with the screen. Mine has to sit off center just a smidge. No options to adjust the horizontal keystone. Only vertical. Super annoying.
