08-06-2025Thought I could use this drive with my new MacBook Pro (M1). The unit does not come with a USB C cable so you cant directly attach it to the MacBook. When I try to connect with the dongle, the mac wont recognize it.

> 3 dayPortability is great, though Id say the case is bigger than it needs to be. Didnt care for the bundled software. Functionality is so-so. Using it if you need to install something from a disc is fine. Watching a movie isnt as good as Id expect for this price. In a movie lasting an hour and a half it paused for a few seconds at least a dozen times while the drive made an audible spinning sound like it was struggling to read the disc. There are no issues with the disc. My other computers built-in drive as well as the player hooked up to my TV have no issues. Its just this drive. So if you just need it to install programs that are still on disc or maybe want to listen to CDs, its probably fine. I dont advise getting this to watch movies with. Its not worth it.

> 3 dayI had a bunch of old CDs and DVDs that I wanted to save onto hard drives. They were very scratched up and dirty, but surprisingly this lil player was able to read them with no problem! Did its job with flying colors!

> 3 dayTested the product and it works, but has very annoying aspects. For something like this that is 100+ dollars I expect it to work flawlessly, but it doesnt. If you have a bluray movie paused for a little bit you will notice some stuttering in the movie because the drive must catch up and load the movie. Also, it was quite a bit of a pain to get movies to work in the first place. I wasnt able to find an easy way to get VLC or Media Player Classic to play blurays, so I had to use the very bloated and advertisement heavy 3rd party software, CyberLink, in order to watch blurays. Hate using software I dont know because who knows if its collecting private data or what ever.

07-06-2025I had to replace my old computer that had two Blue Ray burners in it. The new computers dont come with any CD/DVD burner or writer. This just plugged into the USB on the computer and just works! Very happy although the cable is short and it doesnt sit on top of the new AlienWare R12 (it has a rounded top). Seems like they could have a longer cable at least one long enough to reach the top of a desk (like 2 footer). But the drive works very well.
