> 3 dayFirst off, its a little pricey compared to a few others. However, it just works. In this case, you get what you pay for. Its a Pioneer and works like it knows it is. I ran this all day ripping old backup -R/-RW disks to back them up. Ireally had this running for most of about 100 hours and it never once failed me or gave any problems. Truly plug and play. It was even able to read DVDs that I couldnt read in my older desktop DVD-R/RW Panasonic drive. It plays BD fast and balances itself fairly well. Not too much vibration unless youve got bad disks. Even then, the noise was minimal. It even came with a third-party travel case that has held up pretty well to a few rough trips. Definitely worth it.

> 3 dayI admit that I used this fairly frequently, but I expected more than six months of use after paying $120. Purchased in May, and by November while the drive itself is still recognized, the drive mechanism appears to have burned out, since discs wont spin and not recognized. Installed latest firmware and reinstalled drivers, but nothing worked. A complete waste of money.

> 3 dayI made a huge mistake. I purchased a generic Bluray drive with an external power source. I swapped the power source plug for the wrong one on accident, and ended up frying two USB ports on my laptop. Not only that, but the generic drive just didnt play smoothly. USB 2.0 is pretty slow for HD video it seems. THIS PRODUCT, however, remedies ALL the issues I had with the generic player. This needs no external power and transfers at a far quicker rate. Ive been very happy with this, and the case helps to protect it. Heres to hoping for longevity and smooth disc-reading.

> 3 dayThe deive worked great for 30 days until the trial period on Cyberlink software ran out. Then they want $99 for you to be able to play bluray movies. The software bundled with it will basically only let you record and play ones you make.

> 3 dayI bought a cheaper external disc drive that didnt work and didnt do what I needed, so I ordered this Pioneer BDR-XD07B. It worked perfectly, right out of the box. I work with a lot of different disc and file formats and this product had no problem reading and transferring files, applications, and videos.

Greater than one weekHonestly, having an internal dvd/Blu-ray burner is not worth having these days unless you work in that sort of thing. Having this for occasional or rarely burning discs is ideal. Plus, it is good for watching movies on your pc using VLC player.

> 3 dayOut of the box, this product will play CDs and DVDs, and assuming that Blu-ray software is installed on the computer, it will play BDs as well. Great! It does what its supposed to do. So far, 5 stars. Unfortunately, thats far from the whole story. Pressing the button to open the player doesnt open the player. It merely unlocks the lid, so the user has to raise the lid manually. Then theres the off-white USB cable. Its a real eyesore when attached to a black computer case and connected to this black player. 5 stars are reduced to 4. Unfortunately, thats not the whole story either. If you download and install the Media Suite software, which the instructions tell you to do, you will find that not only is the software ancient, but also that it creates on your Desktop an incredibly obnoxious 2x3-inch window which cannot be hidden by any means whatsoever. When you try to remove it by uninstalling the software, it goes away, but the Media Suite itself cannot be deleted. It remains in Control Panel > Programs and Features, and cannot be removed by any means whatsoever, including third-party delete tools, registry edits, and System Restore. Youre stuck with it unless you revert your computer to a previously created system image, or else reinstall your OS. This is software programming at its absolutely unforgivable worst. 4 stars are reduced to 1. If you buy this player, and youre willing to put up with the annoying lid that wont open by itself and the ugly white USB cable, do not, repeat, DO NOT install the software. If you do, you will regret it.
