We all know that almost anything with Pokémon in the title will sell, but with this installation into the series, I felt myself a bit disappointed. Whilst the new fairy type has balanced the dragon types vicegrip on competitive play, the actually elements of gameplay seemed like they were eased up a bit as well. Leveling up in this game comes as naturally as breathing; my entire team was in the 80s before I even faced the elite four, and I had hardly even grinded beforehand in preparation. The story was so-so, I applaud Team Flares attempt of harnessing the legendary pokemons power in order to wipe the slate clean again, but the whole story just seemed to lack a certain passion. The whole game just seemed to be a hollow story that just handed you some freebies whenever you made the smallest achievement, theres barely any challenge to it at all. While this game is good for people new to the series, it leaves veterans feeling a bit disappointed with how quickly you progress through the game.

It works perfectly and it was a reasonable price.

It was pretty good. Very much liked the addition of Super Training, which made EV training much easier (but still tedious). I also like the great verity of Pokemon that you could catch on a single play through. Wonder Trading is amazing cause you never know what youll get, I even got a few legendaries. Story wise, not the strongest. Team Flare (the bad guys), were boring as sin, and there wasnt really much development. Playing through is pretty easy the the new EXP.Share, which give half the the exp gained by the battling Pokemon to your entire party. This makes it easy to level newly hatched Pokemon to be equal to the rest of your party.

Love me some pokemon!! In all honesty I havent played the game since I was in high school before the purchase so this was my first taste of it some gens later. I have to say the game was very enjoyable; took my time beating it and getting used to all the new abilities and just atmosphere was fun and immersive. The 3-D effect on the game was very nice as well; was active on most all battles and random encounters; more so on trainer battles and gym leaders. Also some areas of the game were very well done to captivate the 3-D effect ( Elite Four gets a special mention here ) They also added some new things in the game I found useful like a new way to EV train in super training ( helps a big noob like myself out ), and the online GTS and the like works nicely to help trading pokemon and make it easy to find what you want with other people. Would say even for younger people it would be a nice pick-up as a gift as its easy to pick up as far as the gameplay and what your doing ( if it was designed as a gift idea ). All in all..nothing really bad I can say; a great game to pick up for the 3-D and a pretty fun Gen for what its worth and new things to explore.

Ill be honest, I have never been a huge fan of the Pokemon games. I always found their gameplay to be too repetitive and easy for my liking. To be fair though, I have only played the most recent ones and I heard that the older ones are tougher and pose more of a challenge for players. Unfortunately this one doesnt change the trend of being easier, but at the very least, it has a solid storyline and a fun and interesting region to explore bursting with charm. I especially loved exploring all the many different cafes in Lumiose City. Skating around that city gave me the illusion of true freedom. Along the way you will meet plenty of interesting characters who will make your journey more meaningful with each badge you collect. My only real problem besides the difficulty, is that there really isnt much of an end game in comparison to past Pokemon games. The game kind of fizzles out after the credits roll, which is unusual to me since I am pretty used to some splendid surprises from Nintendo games in particular. On the bright side though, the game boasts a very accessible and easy to use online trading system. You can choose to either trade one of your random Pokemon for another random one, or trade one of your specific Pokemon for another specific one. Very easy to use. There also happens to be something called a Battle Chateaux in the game which pits you against various trainers of various skill levels and allows you to rank up as well. I found these trainers to be the best way to level up my Pokemon personally. All in all, it is a very good Pokemon game that ties into the show of the same name very well. I just wish the series would become a little more hardcore in the future so I actually have a reason to want to come back and play another entry. There are more features in the game that I havent mentioned but you can go check those out for yourself. Great starting point for new fans!

The missus played it nonstop so it worked! Got it as birthday present along with a 3DS as she kept hinting at NOT wanting a 3DS...hahha! She loved it. She beat it in a couple weeks, though. I wont talk about the game too much, since Ive only had the opportunity to have quick glances over shoulders, but all the 3D-ness is fun and the connectivity is great. I spent half an hour Wonder-trading (randomly trading with random other players) in hopes of getting legendaries...(ok, thats not happening). But beyond that, best check out some game review websites... Great buy. Its also available in the digital Nintendo store, but its more expensive, so if the two day (Prime) wait is not too long, get it here!

For the most part, its the quality Ive come to expect from a Pokemon game, but it still has a few glaring flaws. -First and foremost, they force you to pay a monthly fee to be able to transfer your Pokemon from the 5th gen games. Yes, I know the first month is free, giving you ample time to transfer everything that you cant catch in X or Y.. But its the principle of the thing: there is no reason that we shouldnt have been able to do with this new game what you could with the 5th gen games. What I mean to say, is that here isnt even a technical limitation: 3DS to DS communication IS possible, despite whatever the idiots defending this obvious cash-grab may tell you. Dont beleive me? The most recent Dragon Quest Monsters title, a Japan-only 3DS release, allowed you transfer monsters from previous titles for the DS, This isnt a case of using a 3DS in DS mode, like you might have done with your 5th gen games to transfer Pokemon over from 4th gen games... its true, undisputed, 3DS to DS communication. Nintendo could have done the same thing with X and Y, but chose not to. I could understand setting up this online transfer thing as an option for people who dont still own a DS, but the rest of us got fleeced. Hopefully, enough people will catch wind of this fact, and Nintendo will fix the problem for Pokemon Z or whatever they call the inevitable third version. -After you defeat the Elite 4, theres very little left to do other than to complete the Pokedex. The post-game hasnt been this pathetic since Red, Blue, and Yellow. For a game that I dropped $40 on, I should be getting a lot more. -Only one new evolved form of an old Pokemon (Sylveon)? Really? You can slap however many extra spikes on Charizard that you want, it doesnt change the fact that we still dont have evolved or pre-evolved forms that weve been requesting for a long time. Its not like you couldnt have made room for them. Did we really need an all-new family of moths/butterflies? Werent the FOUR we already had (Butterfree, Beautifly/Dustox, Mothim, Volcarona) enough? -While you have to give Game Freak credit for trying something different with Team Flare, I still feel that their story was really rather rushed. And what happened to AZ after your battle with him? Both issues could have been fixed with a better post game. In summation... the game lives up to a lot of the things Nintendo promised us (the visuals, trainer customization, Mega Evolution, etc), but it also suffers in a lot of other areas. Long time fans like myself will enjoy it (theres even a lot of little references to older games in it), but if you can only buy one Pokemon game this generation, I think Id recommend waiting for Z or whatever they call the third version. I have a feeling that it will expand on the story a bit, give us more of a post game (as usual), and maybe even give us a free transfer option. This is assuming, of course, that its more of a traditional third version and not a straight up sequel like Black 2 and White 2, but either way, you might want to wait.

I was skeptical about the new generation of Pokémon, being such a huge fan of the earlier versions of the game and such a critic of later generations, but I have to say I was truly impressed. This game was not only fun, but the graphics were amazing and it was the perfect length as far as game time goes-- not too long and not too short like some of the other generations. One thing I enjoyed the most was the variety of Pokémon from earlier generations available from the start of game play. It was refreshing to see old favorites available with amazing graphics without having to wait until I beat the entire game and unlock the National Pokédex in order to catch them. There was something special about taking on new gym leaders using a new generation of Pokémon with old classics. Great move on The Pokémon Companys part!
