I love pokemon games, but this is one of the weakest Ive played. Its still very fun! But the new graphics do not make up for the lackluster length and depth. The game feels short and the new EXP share is really a cheap way of playing, and its availability really does make the game feel much shorter. Overall, the amount of monsters is good, graphics great, gameplay standard but shorter and overall a B grade pokemon game. Also the paris map really, really, really, really sucks.

I have not played a Pokemon game since Pokemon Yellow on the Game Boy(GBC). I decided to pick this up around 15 years after I last dove into the Pokemon world after seeing a few trailers/reviews. Not sure why it took me this long to play this series of games again, but Im glad I did. I read from many that this is the perfect game for a person such as me(one who has an attachment to the original series/games) as there are quite a few homages to those games. The gameplay is similar to what I remember, except with a few snazzy and enjoyable changes here and there...besides just the beautiful graphics. It was a fun experience bringing my inner child out once again and exploring the world, collecting some interesting looking pokemon, and battling my way up the final pokemon league. The online/social features are pretty interesting as well. While I do wish there was a chatroom/easier way to communicate with friends and strangers a like it is still an interesting feature to be able to trade and battle pokemon. Maybe in another version down the road they will expand on these features...and perhaps even allow two or more friends explore the world together(and Id really enjoy a console version similar to Ni No Kuni!) If you havent played in a while, Id say grab this game before moving to Omega/Alpha.

all in all its a really good game. if you are thinking about getting this I would the battle system will blow your mind. and the 3D looks good and one of the most things I liked about it. is that all the pokemon you know and love are here. and the ones you dont (that is if you played red, blue, and yellow,) but the things I dont like about the game. is that yeah its to easy like way to easy I finished the game with lvl 60-70 pokemon and the legendary pokemon if you kill it w/o catching it you can try again. now all of you people that grew up in the 90s and played bed/blue ect know if you happen to kill mewtwo and did not save well that was that

Ive played most of the past Pokemon games and they keep getting better with each iteration, and Pokemon X/Y makes the greatest leap forward in terms of interface and graphics, while continuing to follow the standard formula for core gameplay of this great series. The interface is now more intuitive than ever with little tweaks that make everything from inventory to game world easier and more efficient to navigate and manage. Youll wonder how you ever managed to get through some of the older titles without all the improvements that are to be found in X/Y. The updated graphics of the 3DS really bring all the pokemon to life, and the game world itself has never before been more breathtaking nor more beautiful to behold. There really has never been a better Pokemon game to play, for veterans and for new fans alike.

Pokemon X&Y is most definitely the best Pokemon game released to date. The amount of improvement: regarding graphics, content, IV training/breeding, and models & animations is incredible; especially after playing the Pokemon series since Generation I. New features, such as the revamped Exp. Share and the introduction of Mega-evolution (something Id thought would be very stupid and gimmicky, but actually turned out to be a lot of fun) just make the game a great play-through. A big flaw that kept me from giving a 5-star rating is the games terrible framerate issues. Even without 3D on, the animations in battle suffer from very choppy movement. Actually turning 3D on renders an almost unplayable framerate. Another minor (but very annoying) gripe I had is that the new mode for fast traveling--rollerskates--cannot be turned off and are automatically used whenever you use the circle pad to move.

I was a bit skeptical about buying this game since I have not played any pokemon games for about a year, but I must say that game freak definitely raised the bar on this game and completely innovated a series that was already amazing in the first place. The game is great for newcomers into the series and veterans alike, because of the simplicity of the game, yet challenging meta-game (Competitive Battling) for the more experienced players who are confident in their skills in battle against other players connected over the internet. The Player Search System or PSS was only one of the great additions and innovations game freak used to improve interaction with other real life players for doing such things as battling and trading over the internet. Overall this game is one of my favorite pokemon games due to its completely original story and new pokemon designs, not to mention the next-level innovation that game freak put onto this game.

Love the game. Much easier than the originals with a lot to do. Its easier to make money although poke balls are useless just about come later in the game so just go buy the more expensive balls. Lots of pokemon to collect, the trading system is awesome. The safari friend zone is garbage because you cant get in or at least I have yet to figure out how due to the problems with the friend codes and what not. I also was annoyed that the trainers (the final four or whatever they are called) not only hide behind a bunch of other trainers before you even get to them but they are themed so its really easy to beat them with the right group. Also annoying that the other trainers you encounter use super potions all day long mid fight so you need to get tons of those too. Still a pretty cool game though.

This was the first game I bought for my 3DS. I bought it last autumn as a treat for myself after passing my psychology midterm. I play this game the most out of my small game collection because after awhile, it gets a bit addicting. Because of the fast-paced storyline, the adorable (and bizzare) pokemon you can play with, and the amazing multiplayer compatibility, I can say with full confidence that this game rocks. Id recommenced this as a game for beginning to intermediate gamers, also for those who want to get into Pokemon but dont know where to start. The story is fun, but after you get the basic formulas down (fire beats grass, water beats fire, electricity beats water, etc.), battling isnt too terribly hard unless youre playing against a live opponent. Ive gotten to the point where I can play this before bed and continue to win even though Im too tired to keep my eyes open. However, because your pokemon can only learn 4 moves at a time (with limited times you can use each move), there is some basic strategy required, especially during the moments where you fight difficult bosses or other live players. And while the gameplay isnt that hard, its easy to get sucked into the mechanics of it all because each pokemon has specific trademark moves that makes for interesting battles. Unlike other pokemon games, you can actually interact, feed and play three different minigames (and a glitchy hidden minigame that uses your facial expressions as a playing piece) with your pokemon using the Pokemon-Amie feature. This allows you to feel close with the pokemon on your team. There is a lot of free-roaming allowed, and I have yet to discover all the hidden puzzles and treats left after beating the games story. One thing I want to mention though is that I dont see why the games so inconsistent with its 3D-capabilities. The majority of the game doesnt use the 3D option, but as soon as a battle starts or you enter a cave, you can use it. Also, there is an option for you as a player to customize your character. However, until you do a lot of side-questing in Luminose City, you wont be able to change your appearance, and even then theres a limited pallet. Still, you can buy outfits from each city you visit, so you can change clothes pretty early on. Overall, the games pretty fun and holds for nice challenges. Excuse me, for now I must be off. Gotta catch em all!

Ive been a fan of Pokémon since Red and Blue appeared here in the US. From that point on, Ive been getting my hands on at least one game from each series as they released. After Ruby and Sapphire came out on the GBA, nothing quite pulled me into the world of Pokémon like they had. That isnt to say I disliked the DS games. I still enjoyed them, but I wasnt enraptured like I had been before... this is, until X and Y appeared. I bought Y first, but it wasnt too long after that I bought X. Pokémon X and Y have so much to offer anyone who tries them out. I felt nostalic on occasion, as well as a brand new sense of adventure. For the very first time, you get to see the world in 3d. You also get to play with, feed, and pet your Pokémon! Plus, the new region, new villains, and new legendaries are absolutely fun and awesome. Whether youre new to the series or youre a Pokémon Veteran (like me), the odds are that you will enjoy this game.
