These things get hot, but dont project heat very well unless you put it in the bottom of the cage inside which aint gonna happen... So far they last longer than those crappy heat lamps though.

Good night time heat lamp, emits no light, fits in standard domes. My only complaint is I wish it was a little bit warmer for 100 watt bulb.

It doesnt keep it above 72 degrees max temperature. I needed it to keep 86 f degrees and it does`nt

Ive been using this heat emitter for about a year now, and its the best source of heat Ive used yet! I am using it to heat a 55 gallon glass terrarium for my ball python. I loved this one so much, I ordered another for my new Brooks kingsnake terrarium as well. They do get very hot to the touch, but I have been very successful using this with an adjustable reptile lamp and a temp gun to track the temperatures. Expensive, but it has a much longer life than any light-producing bulb, and it takes away the stress in nocturnal reptiles of having a light on all the time (as my reptiles are in my bedroom, this is a big plus for me as well). My ball pythons appetite went waaaay up while using this instead of a fluorescent light! Just be careful to keep it away from anything flammable or melt-able, because it really is hot enough to start a fire. Use it with the correct wattage lamp with a ceramic base, over a steel mesh cage lid if you plan on heating reptiles with it.

I dont use this as an incubator light. I use it in a home made proofer for dough and for cheese and creme fraiche. I also use it to grow my yeast before brewing.

So far it has been about a month, and this is working great. I bought one before this from another company, and it was supposed to last 3 years, but it didnt even make it a month. This one is working properly, keeping my hedgie nice and warm :) It was worth a few extra dollars; now I just hope to see it hold up to its proper time!
