> 3 dayI think it would be good for any tank under 40 gallons but anything over that it just does not do good for maintaining proper temperatures. I love how it does not light up the whole room at night however. It would be great if you have an animal that needs to bask in heat.

> 3 dayOnly reason I give it a 3 is because I only used it twice because I read too many reviews of them blowing out and shooting firing

> 3 dayNumber one you need to buy a light fixture that is at least twice the recommended wattage of the heat emitter. I have a 150w hooked up to a huge 300w fixture, now after this one fused its self to the light fixture and then blew up.

20-11-2024Ive had reptiles for about 17 years now and will always buy ceramic for heating needs. They are the longest lasting, most durable bulbs you can buy. I do like how the red-light heat bulbs look at night, but they never last a fraction of the time the ceramic will. These bulbs last SO long, they will tend to collect dust, which creates a burning odor. I just recommend dusting them off every now and then. Just use caution when it comes to the size of your tank, and monitor your animal for a few days to gauge if the wattage is too high, the bulb is too close, etc. as these do get extremely hot. Highly recommend.

Greater than one weekI wish whole heartedly someone could help me resolve this issue. They are not even answering my calls or emails anymore- and I have never received a working ceramic heat emitter. I need it for an ill iguana.

> 3 dayIf you use your own base be sure to have it extra secure with materials that are very heat resistant... when this lamp is on it gets EXTREMELY hot! Any duct tape and plastic near it will melt away. Make sure its secure because this baby is quite the fire hazard. Its capable of heating a small space extremely quickly, though, and combined with the Zoo Med ReptiTemp 500R Remote Sensor Thermostat you can keep temperature perfectly accurate.

> 3 dayI ordered this to keep my chicken coop warm in the winter. I use this instead of a heat lamp because I want all the power going into making heat unlike a heat bulb that you buy at the hardware store. Some of that energy goes into light instead of heat.
