I learned about this versatile splint in a wilderness first aide course and decided to add it to our kit that we keep on hand in our rural area and for hiking and camping trips. It is lightweight. While it does take some space in a pack, it can be stowed as a roll or flat/form fitting in available space. Basic instructions are printed on the splint itself. The company website (http://www.sammedical.com/sam_splint.html) has complete instructions and links to YouTube videos demonstrating the splints use in various situations. That said, hope I never have to use it!

Its very functional and can be used in a variety of configuations. I think its took bulky to be carried in a backpack unless you had room to pair in a 70L + backpack.

If youre like me and spend alot of times hiking in the wilderness or even just like the touristy trails I recommend packing one or two of these. I broke my foot almost 5 years ago and wouldve killed to have had one of these in my kit at the time. Two years later I was in the Smokies and a woman broke her fibula(same as my break) I was glad to be carrying one and we got her fixed up and back down the mountain. Well made and serves many injuries.

Recommended by a EMT for my trauma bag. After a bit of training, it is a good idea having one in a field bag.

The best, most versatile splint on the market. You can use it on arms or legs, to make an improvised cervical collar, or for many other situations. We use these at work, and I carry one in my car. Very easy to use and has instructions on the splint itself.

Great product to keep handy in your first aid kit. I like that it is versatile for different types of fractures.
