22-11-2024Had the monitor for 9 months before the the screen started delaminating from the bezel at Top Center. I registered my monitor on Samsungs website to find out I had 20 days left on a one year warranty. After jumping though many hoops I spoke to a rep and had a repair ticket in. They game me a label to ship the monitor to a repair center. It took them about 2 days to replace the screen and sent the monitor back. Upon return, I did a dead pixel check and found 2 dead pixels with the new screen. Unfortunate but what can you do : / On the bright side I cannot really see them unless I look for them. Other than these issues the monitor has been great.

18-11-2024I ordered the g50a 2022 refresh for $347 including tax. I saw that Amazon has these monitors listed completely wrong because I ordered a curved qhd 165hz monitor and the g50a doesnt have a curved option on the Samsung website. I looked up the serial number that was on the box when it got here and it showed a g5 that costs $500+ so I got a pretty damn good deal.

> 3 dayThe monitor has come down in price and now its one of the best budget options for gaming and ultrawide. The biggest problem with this monitor is the smearing that happens. For non-competitive games, this is not an issue at all. Youre only going to notice this if you look for it. However, when it comes to FPS or other more competitive titles, its going to make a big impact on your performance. I dont dig the aesthetics, especially the fact that the front cutouts are basically just fake speakers. At least there is no red accents so its not too obnoxious. The bezels are OK, theyre not terribly thick but there are many monitors that will beat it. Overall, its a good budget ultrawide gaming monitor. The colors out of the box are off, but can be tweaked to get pretty good results. The blacks are good as expected from a VA panel, but unfortunately like other VA panels it suffers from ghosting.

Greater than one weekWhere do I start? I guess Ill do bullet points. - (Be sure to use a fast enough cable to support the high refresh rate and resolution, I recommend DisplayPort 1.4 or higher or equivalent.) - The 1000R curve looks really nice, this is my first curved monitor and from what I read online this monitor has a really aggressive curve so I didnt know if I would like it, but I totally do. - The resolution is good, 3440x1440 is perfect for this size monitor everything looks crisp. - 165hz is just right for my needs, I have a 4080 and when I play Warzone my framerate hovers around 120-160fps when Im using high settings so I dont think Ill be needing a higher hertz monitor. - The monitor control knob at the bottom works well and is a lot better than having several buttons. - So far I havent noticed any dead pixels. - I went from a 3 monitor setup to this 1 monitor ultrawide so my desk would look cleaner. I was afraid I would lose multitasking advantages, but you can still enjoy multitasking by snapping windows to the left and right of the monitor and its big enough to comfortably do so. - I saw a few people complain over the build quality on how its plastic, but I have NO complains over how it feels. I also think plastic was the way to go in order to save weight as I do have it on a monitor arm. (I recommend the ErGear Single Monitor Mount Stand 13-39 Inches Gaming Monitor Arm its the one Im currently using and its great.) Im sure there are drawbacks to this monitor, however to my untrained eye the experience is great, also the price doesnt break the bank.

> 3 dayfor the price of a 32 curved monitor. its pretty decent when running average games but not for higher quality beefy games. you will have to spend a bit more on pixel amount for the type of monitor

Greater than one weekOverall great monitor, good price (I paid $345 if youre patient youll get it at this price), 1440P, 144Hz, not too heavy, curve isnt that bad once you get used to it but it will feel strange for a while. My only gripe is one single dead pixel, which honestly sucks but isnt the end of the world in a 1440P monitor where pixels feel so small however on solid color screens (especially white) I can always find it (because I know its there) other people may not even notice it honestly. Not worth taking off a star over one dead pixel (Screen is 6 months old now) overall happy with the monitor for the price I paid.

> 3 dayThis monitor, the G5, is a huge upgrade from my old ASUS VS228. The 144hz is smooth and makes games feel much more responsive (when I can run them that well). The FreeSync works with GSync on my GTX 1660 Super, and makes everything feel even smoother. It gets plenty bright, and the configuration menus are very easy to navigate with the fairly intuitive power button/navigation stick. I was definitely confused from the reviews here before. The G7 reviews are also available on this page, which is not often made clear. There is no LED on the back of the G5, just the small light by the power button to indicate on/off working modes. The HDR is honestly lackluster. It does provide a slightly higher dynamic range and makes available things like HDR-compatible YouTube videos, but it washes out lots of the colors. Everything will generally look better if you just keep HDR off in Windows settings. The reviews I’ve seen here seem to indicate that the HDR on the G7 is much nicer, so I’ll be considering upgrading to that when I can. Overall, this is a great choice for people looking for 1440p or 144hz gaming/content. This monitor does of course have flaws, and it can be frustrating to find out what those are through the disorganized reviews here. Hopefully you see this review and it sheds some more light on this product!
