The first drive I received had numerous file errors right away, then stopped responding on the first day. The replacement has been working flawlessly for the past 2 weeks. I bought a USB-to-SATA adapter for the Samsung Data Migration software but couldnt use it. I had two hard drives in my PC, one was the primary drive being replaced and the other is dedicated to backup. The data migration software recognized the incorrect drive and there was no ability to change it. Fortunately I have Acronis software which cloned the primary drive perfectly.

If you have a standard HD replace it with this and your laptop will be 5-10x faster. I couldnt believe the difference! I have a 2009 MacBook Pro and it now goes from off to browsing the web in about 20-30 seconds! Amazing performance!

Purchased for my moms older computer that she said was running ridiculously slow. Once installed, she was raving about how much faster the computer was compared to the hard disk drive.

I plugged it into macbook pro and thanks to MacOS transferred everything in a few minutes. Laptop has been super zippy ever since. Thankyou Samsung and Apple!

The long boot times in my wifes laptop were getting to be unbearable, so I purchased the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD to replace the HDD in her HP Pavilion laptop model dv6t-2100. Also purchased a Sabrent external plastic case with USB cable to temporarily hold the SSD during the cloning operation. The software that came with the SSD worked flawlessly. After cloning, I powered down, unplugged, then flipped the laptop over, removed the battery, opened the cover and easily removed the old HDD. Removed the holder on the old HDD and attached it to the new SSD re-using the 4 screws, then plugged in and inserted the drive, and bolted on the cover. WOW, what a difference! From over 2 minutes to about 30 seconds to boot. The laptop is a joy to use now. In a second but separate operation, I upgraded the ram from 3GB to 8GB using a pair of 4GB Crucial chips, but the SSD is what made the big difference in performance.

Ive thrown these in a few laptops of my own, as well as done upgrades for friends. Best money you can spend to make an old laptop run like new again, no kidding... And the included software which lets you perfectly clone your old drive to the new one means no data loss and a totally easy hardware-to-hardware replacement with no software changes necessary. (You will need to buy a cable/housing for the drive to plug in USB/eSATA, but those are super cheap...and bonus: when done, you can use your old HDD as an external drive.)

I love samsung products, this is my fifth ssd and there has never been a single instance of hard drive failure. Love it! Five stars for sure.

Wow, this thing changes the entire PC experience! Not sure if it was the Samsung mirror software, but it took multiple attempts before I could boot off of the SSD.

unfortunately, this ssd did not work. Even more unfortunate, the return window closed the day before I needed to return it. Update. I fell into the trap of following directions. The were from Samsung after all, so I didnt think twice, A mistake. The instructions were clear and simple, but had a fatal flaw. Before a ssd can be accessed, the computer must recognize it. This is the missing step. After installing the ssd, go to disk management in control panel, and give it a volume name, and then format the ssd. Then, the computer will recognize it, and the cloning process can proceed. I dont understand why Samsung would ignore this necessary step. So, the ssd works fine now.

if youre looking for a quality ssd then this is your guy. Extremely fast, light weight and I know it doesnt matter but it looks better than some of the other ssds Ive owned. Looks sleek whereas some (like the toshiba) look like a bunch of exposed microchips
