Awesome! The out of the box software would not clone my previous laptop hard drive due to the fact it was setup as a dynamic disk. I had to purchase a third party software to first convert the disk from dynamic to basic before the Samsung clone software would work.

the difference from the old SATA drive is amazing. This drive gave me a 7.8 on the Microsoft user experience up from 5.8

Ive used SSDs before so I know how awesome their performance is. Im only giving this product 4 stars as a warning that getting your computer to boot from an SSD is not always straight forward. Its not Samsungs fault and Im sure this product will be smoking fast when its running but I may never be able to use it on my current desktop PC. My MOBO is an older Gigabyte. The migration software appears to have worked fine and the SSD is apparently ok but my PC wont boot from it. After visiting many tech forums, I found that this is a common problem if you dont have AHCI set properly on your PC. And if you had your BIOS set to IDE before you installed the original OS (Win7x64 in my case), you cant change it afterwards without doing a registry hack. Then, if you do the hack, you HAVE to change the BIOS setting from IDE to AHCI or youll get the BSOD. If you do that then you run the risk that your CD/DVD drive wont work anymore because it needs the IDE setting. Microsoft supposedly has a hot fix for this (MicrosoftFixit50470) but this sounds dicey and Im not even sure that AHCI is the problem. I could be hacking my machine and running the risk of it not working at all for no reason. Assuming AHCI is the problem, I could change the BIOS setting and then do a clean Win7x64 install so that it can load the AHCI drivers but I dont want to. I want to migrate my existing system to the SSD. So, Ill probably save the SSD and build a new machine from scratch. Then I can set everything up properly from the beginning. The bottom line is that SSDs are worth trying but be aware that it may not be simple to migrate an existing system.

Daughter was complaining that laptop was old and I needed to buy her a new one. I cleaned up her startup applications and replaced her 5400RPM drive with this. She could not believe that it was the same drive. There really is a huge difference in performance. As for migration, there are many free tools to perform the migration. I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HJZJI84/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 so that I could clone the existing drive to the SSD (I prefer to have SSD sitting on table next to laptop as there are no moving parts; less vibration than a disk that is actually spinning inside). Would I buy again? I bought 4 drives and have replaced all of our drives now.

Installed the SSD within a few minutes. Pretty straightforward process. Last year I upgraded the RAM on my mid 2012 MBP from 4 GB to 16 GB but didnt do anything about the rotating HDD. The result was that I was never able to go beyond 8 GB even when I opened way more number of applications than I generally do. However... ... after installing this SSD, I opened a similar number of applications and started some casual work and my RAM usage went to 8.22 GB. So, 8 GB should be sufficient for all practical purposes but 16 GB is another installable option if you upgrade to SSD. Next, on HDD the timings to: 1. Start button press to password prompt was: 1 minute and 43 seconds 2. Password prompt to opening Safari with a few test windows from terminal was: 22 seconds 3. From a normal running state to Shutdown: 28 seconds The timings after installation of SSD: 1. Start button press to password prompt: 23 seconds 2. Password prompt to opening Safari with a few test windows from terminal was: 5 seconds 3. From a normal running state to Shutdown: 12 seconds

Bought this, no issues... i wish the 1TB and 2TB were cheaper, but at the same time i think 500GB is more than enough because usually things i dont use take up my needed space.

I used this to replace the original spinning disk on my 2011 Macbook Pro, and it works beautifully. Its a cinch to install (just watch one or two youtube videos beforehand and youll be fine), and it works like a charm. My machine is faster than ever, and the battery lasts at least an hour or two longer.

Bought this product because of the Respected name of SAMSUNG. I was satisfied with it out of the box. Wait... theres a but here somewhere... it has a mind of its own and Doesnt appear on BIOS anymore or for WIndows as a secondary drive or anything. Thank goodness for a backup OS and drive. Just started doing this a while back. Hate to drag a good name in the mud but perhaps ssds are still not as reliable as HDDs despite the inferior speed. Unfortunatly i have WINDOWS on this drive im writing this review on my tablet becuase it doesnt want to boot, gave a nasty windows error code the other day.. didnt know what it was at the time, I just got this new, it couldnt be. My CRUCIAL SSD had a similar issue but that lasted at least 1 year and a half seemed at bit faster but were splitting hairs. This thing lasted a month. Seems to be a known issue out there, but not very spoken of outloud.

First of all, This drive is fast for booting, scanning and gaming. You may not notice much from booting. BUT for gaming, IT IS A BIG, BIG different. Last of all, GAMERS should buy this SSD. Doesnt matter whether youre a hardcore gamer or not, this drive will help your rate. My windows index experience running (lowest score only) from 5.9 (hardrive) to 7.9 (this ssd) in Windows 7 and gaming from 10 - 40 fps to 100 - 300 fps on all high settings. At this time, Samsung is the only brand that has the best read and write rate and for the quality (life of this ssd), only time can tell. I will keep you update as time goes on. So far so good. Of course, I just got it recently, too. If you buy items from AMAZON, you have NO WORRIES. AMAZON will take good care of you.
