> 3 dayPro: Its working. Cons: Depending on your system and software, there are some issues. 1> Software install - minor detail - the choice to install both applications, only installed the first one. 2> Drive copy - The data migration appears to use up some system space. In my Windows 7 system, it reduced the free space in the System Partition (100 MB, at the beginning of the disk). It also renamed that partition to DATA. One of these actions created some later problems. Otherwise, this works OK, and the PC boots with the new drive. 3> Magician (drive configuration application) - This seems to turn off the System Restore and Volume Shadow Copy features of windows, for drive reliability. In my opinion, that reduces the system reliability. Also, the loss of free space in the System partition broke my backup software, with errors (incorrectly defined) about lack of drive space and sharing violations (since the System partition was no longer big enough). 4> I resolved these issues by moving the main partition and expanding the system partition - a painful process, dont do it unless you really need to do so! 5> Ive reactivated the System Restore and Volume Shadow Copy features of windows. Well see if it affects the drive life...

> 3 dayThis has been a great drive in my old mid-2009 Macbook Pro 13 inch. I only wish it was double the size for the same price! :) Manually enabling Trimforce worked with one command-line command.

> 3 dayThis is my second Samsung SSD. Got a Samsung 840 PRO 250 GB couple months ago as my C (OS) drive and its running out of space. Decided to double the storage and get 850 EVO 500GB. Consideration: Since Samsung SSD is at the top of all SSD drives in the market, my first question is which one to get? 850 PRO or 850 EVO 500GB? 840 has been served me well and I have no complain but is 850 worth the $80 premium over EVO version? The main differences are: 850 PRO / 850 EVO ---------------------------- Sequential read: 550MB/s > 520MB/s Sequential write: 520MB/s = 520MB/s NAND Type (32-layer 3D V-NAND) 40nm 86Gbit 2-bit MLC = 19nm 128Gbit 3-bit TLC Endurance 150 TB (10-year warranty) >75 TB (5-year) => But for the 500GB version, it actually has the same rating of 150TB of total writes. =>For me, 850 PRO is overkill for my setup and I would imagine I can get the next generation SSD even cheaper next time when upgrade is due in a year. If youre using it for business or mission critical applications, then this will be a different story. Performance benchmark of my old drive and the new drive: Samsung SSD 840 PRO 250 GB / 850 EVO 500GB -------------------------------------------------------------------- Sequential Read: 554 MB/s | 547 MB/s Sequential Write: 458 MB/s | 515 MB/s Random Read: 73844 IOPS | 78956 IOPS Random Write: 68772 IOPS | 71017 IOPS =>850 EVO is a little bit faster. Installation: (for my desktop setup) I’m upgrading my existing OS drive so it’s not a clean installation. If you don’t mind the trouble of clean installation (wipe the drive and install OS and all the software), it’s the most reliable way but I do not have time for that. Steps: 1. Open up desktop PC and connect the new drive using the SATA 3 cable (not included) 2. Run Samsung Data Migration software (included, or you can download from Samsung site.) It allows you to clone your existing drive (can be any brand of SSD) to a Samsung SSD. It will take 10-20 mins for the whole cloning process depend on how much data you have. 3. Once it’s done, power off the computer and remove the original cable/power. I also switch the SATA connection to use the same port. For example, if you’re using SATA port 1 for the old HDD, I connect the port 1 to the new SSD so it won’t confused the OS. Power on again and see if everything works. If it does, then you can safely remove the old drive. Conclusion: 850 EVO has the best price and value for any PC builds. It’s fast and reliable. 5-year warranty is long enough for any application.

> 3 dayMy first SSD, so this is a review for those just as much as Samsungs SSD. This is the single greatest purchase you can make to speed up any PC, even if you are not a gamer. Everything loads much more quickly. Boot times with seconds. Applications open instantaneously. Move, copy, and delete files rapidly. Even searching in the Windows 10 toolbar, everything pops up instantly. If you a moderate-to-heavy user of a laptop or desktop PC then you really need to buy this.

> 3 dayI got the 500GB for my PC and a 1TB for my PS4 and I can say it makes everthing a bit faster. Some games load a bit faster then normal and for the PC boot time is quick as well. downloading and uploading is fine now. Way better then a HDD that runsat 5400RPM (comes with a PS4). My only con would be the price.

Greater than one weekI was able to quickly integrate the drive into my current system setup. I have a total of 4 Samsung drives. Use them in all my builds plan on purchasing few more for laptops that I have.

> 3 dayI cant speak to the reliability of the drive, since I only have one. And I havent really noticed a significant difference between this and my other three SSD-based computers. The reason I didnt get a cheaper SSD is for the supposed reliability of the 850 EVO.
