Samsung BAR Plus 32GB - 200MB/s USB 3.1 Flash Drive Champagne Silver (MUF-32BE3/AM)

Samsung Bar Plus 32GB drive is a looker, theres no questions about it. It looks better than any USB drive I had. Its well made and compact (at the same time not being too tiny so its hard to plug-in/out or easy to lose) so that it wont obstruct any USB ports around it. Its great value. Then I compared it with my Lexar (L) S74 64GB drive (yes, usually the higher capacity drives will have higher speeds) to see if this uses USB 3.1 bandwidth properly. L drive in terms of looks is quite opposite of the Samsung Bar Plus. L is bulky, has brash colors, plasticy,... But speeds-wise, its a different story. Samsungs read speed is nearing twice as much as L (well, +60% to be more accurate) at ~224MB/s compared to ~140MB/s of Lexar. But, Ls writing speed is ~100MB/s, which is about three-times higher than Samsungs ~34MB/s. At least for me it does not make sense to have so high reading speed while sacrificing 3x writing speed. For regular work its better have balanced read & write speeds. TBH Samsungs 34MB/s is not bad for a cheap drive, and maybe fine for normal tasks (unless youre in a hurry :-D). Too bad Samsung didnt use the USB 3.1 bandwidth properly (probably due to cost factors). See the images for more detailed speed comparison. All tests were done on same PC, same port (and same conditions as much as possible).

Pros: * Durable metal casing, sealed; should be water-proof * Small footprint * Fast read speed; quick write speed (USB 3.1) * Has hole to put on keyring Cons: * Very slippery surface; it keeps squirting out of my hand * Very tight Socket; youll have to really work to get it in and out of USB ports * No cover; one has to be mindful of debris contaminating the socket. I knocked off a star for the tight socket issue; it has been very frustrating.

This thing is nice! Great build quality and design. It is not small but not oversized and that is fine with me I like the easy to find profile. The metal body gives it a solid feel. I ordered this to keep wedding photos secure and there was plenty of room to hold those memories 32gb and I got around 31gb. Highly recommend for your important documents and memories!

Its a fairly small drive with a pleasing design. The little hook on the end is a bit awkward, but it works for use on a lanyard and/or keychain. Ive included a CrystalDiskMark test of the drive. The tests seem consistent with what is advertised given that this is the 32 GB model, so I cant complain with speeds, however I notice disparity between myself and others. This might have to do with my PC and not the drive itself. At the very least, I can say in terms of use, its not unreasonable in terms of performance.

Great usb for loading programs into CNC machines. (HAAS & HURCO 3-Axis mills) Also works on our Mitsubishi wire EDM machine.

The temperature of the pendrive increases when connected and is slightly warm at max. There are no other issues.

I own a lot of these, havent ever ran into any trouble other than occupationally some of them overheat while doing large rights to them. I dont tend to stress them after I write things to them they tend to just sit around and get read after once in a while, which means read speed is the only thing that really matters to me, and they have pretty good read speed.

Ive now purchased 5 of these Samsung flash drives, and have never had an issue with them. I have a flash drive input in my car, and Ive had issues with other brands, to where I cant access my music- even though I can see the files- but have never had that issue with these. Ive used them for music. video and for document storage with work ... always works great transferring from Mac to Mac and Mac to PC.
