My Samsung BAR Plus 32GB USB 3.1 flash drive provides a Read Speed of up to 200MB/second, and a Write Speed of up to 34MB/second, as many USB 3.1 flash drive manufacturers promise these days. But most USB flash drives fail miserably when one installs, say, a Linux Lite operating system, plugs it into a computer, and tries to run Linux on it. Most USB flash drives, even the USB 3.1 flash drives, and especially the compact ones, overheat, which slows those promised ultra-high read/write speeds to a crawl.. except for the Samsung BAR Plus 32GB USB 3.1 flash drive! The reason why the Samsung BAR Plus 32GB USB 3.1 flash drive runs cooler and faster is that the 1.53 (40mm) long metal case also functions as an efficient heatsink, that becomes warm to the touch when the Linux operating system is busy with videos, games, and such. And theres simply no way around that simple law of physics. I tried a few other brands of smaller, more compact USB 3.1 drives, that I could conveniently and permanently leave in my laptop USB port, but none of them could effectively run Linux. I highly recommend the Samsung BAR Plus USB 3.1 flash drive.

I bought this usb drive (32 gb version) because I need one on my keyring in case if I dont have my external hard drive or laptop with me. And probably its a best flash drive for this purpose. It looks durable - just one solid piece of metal. Water, shock, magnet, temperature and x-ray proof with 5 years of warranty. I dont have usb 3.1 yet - but I tested it with 2.0 and 3.0 - see attached pictures. Im sure writing speed with 3.1 will be much faster.

I backup often and this is probably twice as fast as my older flash drives. Instead of deleting the data I want to overwrite, I format the flash drive each time, then copy, this method is much better than deleing whats on the drive than copying the data.

I previously had a bad batch that failed three times, however some time later I decided to take some chances and order some more, and I have not been disappointed. Ive had two for nearly a year and they havent failed me yet, despite installing countless OSes from them. Theyre fast, too, but they do get a bit warm.

I bought two of these both work very well but run exceedingly hot which can be attributed to them higher performance, but I can only assume this will come at the cost of longevity.

I use this Samsung flash drive to store all my documents and files, and it seems to do a very good job, never had any problems with it. It works very well on my Windows 10 laptop that has USB 3. 0 ports, and it also works very well on my Windows 8. 1 laptop that has USB 2. 0 ports. I like the fact that it is cased in metal, it seems to be very durable and hopefully it will be reliable and last a long time.

This thing gets very hot within a couple minutes of being plugged in. I cant say how this will effect long term performance since Ive only had it a few days, but I do find it concerning.
