I purchased this drive to go into my new Alienware tower. Initially I used it to transfer my old docs drive. It now resides in the tower and chugs along daily. It is fast and I feel that it will work for many years. I do have a back up system in place just in case, I do however feel that my data is pretty secure on this drive.

Bought this as it was recommended to me by a friend-- the installation went very smoothly and the performance is incredible. I replaced my old HDD with this SSD and its like a brand new computer at less than 10% of the price. Very happy with the results and would absolutely recommend this.

I pay a premium for my SSDs. Samsung is significantly more expensive. BUT you get fantastic free migration software. and have NEVER had a samsung SSD fail on me. Seems the SSDs monitor themselves for failing cells. then replace thos cells with spares.. when you first install this thing you can set how many spare there are (besides the extra that come with it they recommend 10%) If you want the SSD to last for decades you can probably set the spare cells for over 10%. Other than media storage (for which i use Western digital MY book type drives.. all my hard drives are SSDs now. To see teh difference between a moving part drive and an ssd.. is quite noticable just in booting windows. SSDs are FAST, use less electricity and have no moving parts. I love my Samsung SSDs.. (Cept they are pricy)

I upgraded from a hard disk drive booting Windows 10 in my desktop PC, running on a MSI Z77A-G45 motherboard in a Thermaltake Oversoar RX-1 tower. This was the first time I had installed an SSD drive. The Oversoar tower has removable drive bays that are designed to accommodate a 2.5 inch SSD drive. No additional mounting bracket was required. The motherboard has two SATA 6GB ports. I left my original hard drive installed and connected the new SSD to the other port. The installation was very easy. I attempted to clone the hard drive to the SSD. However the cloned SSD would not boot. After all troubleshooting efforts failed, I did a fresh install of Windows 10 onto the SSD. That worked great. The only issue I had was that the first time I booted up from the SSD, Windows Disk Manager could not see my hard drive. I rebooted in the Bios where I could see both drives, then tried to reboot Windows again. This time I could see both drives. I left the boot partition on my original hard drive and verified I could boot from both drives. My hard drive can now serve as a backup boot drive. I used Samsungs Magician software to enable their recommended performance settings. Everything seems to be working great and I see a noticeable performance when booting up, shutting down, and browsing web pages.

If youre looking at cheaper ssd alternatives know that an ssd without dram cache can be judt as fast as a traditional hdd. Highly recommend this SSD due to having dram cache. Fast and east install.

Used to revive an iMac. The difference in speed was immediately noticed. I restored from Apples Time Machine.

I never write any Amazon reviews. It takes a lot to move me to that. This device succeeded easily in doing so:

This works perfectly for fast boots and running the operating system and core programs. I actually bought this because my main hard drive got blitzed in a Windows update. Now all my data (photos, music etc.) I keep on external drive. 500GB should be plenty even for Windows 10s new minimum 64GB core OS requirement. Basically this main drive has Windows, Acrobat, MS Office and the browsers(Chrome and Firefox).
