> 3 dayI prefer Schlage to similar products. They are solid and usually easy to install. The inside and outside parts join together well and I don’t have to fight the connection. I gave 4 star this time because I needed to *reverse* the lever handles on 4 out of 5 doors. The hole for the pin is small, but the lever pulls off fairly easily. Once off, one needs to do a mock set up to make sure everything is going to be correct once the lever is replaced. There is a slot and a ridge on the center pin that need to be aligned before replacing the lever. It’s hard to describe in words. However, they look great once installed.

> 3 dayI picked this up as a used item in used - like new condition in original packaging. It was to replace a 22 y/o Schlage lever door knob/lock on my backdoor which is still working but shiney gold. Its time for an update. The door knob that was sent to me was 100% unusable with the key stuck in the lock and the lock tongue damaged by the previous owner obviously having to pry their door open after the key got stuck. I cant believe that Amazon resold this, and resold it as like new condition. I have Schlage door knobs and locks on all my doors, and my 22 year old shiney gold door knobs and locks are still looking good and functioning fine. I planned to donate them once I have replacements. But maybe Ill just try painting them with rustoleum and see how that goes before investing in new ones that may not work as well as what I have (given that someone had a key get stuck and had to pry the door open with this lock).

> 3 dayNeeded these to match our Schlage matt black handles in the rest of the house. We have the Schlage model F40ACC622 ion our other doors, so these were perfect for our closet. The handles did come with black screws, but after about 6 months of tugging on them by our kids, one of the handles came off the door. This was due to the closet doors being hollow core, so the screw was only attached to a thin piece of wood. I swapped them out for a 2in bolt that has a washer and nut on the other side of the door. Now they are on tight and I dont have to worry about them getting ripped off the door again.

> 3 dayNice looking ‘dummy’ handles, and the ones here at Amazon are great. We bought some of the same brand and style from one of the home improvement stores, and those were loose and junk. These are supposed to be fixed handles and those wobbled and shook like they were ready to fall apart. They were in ‘plastic’ merchandising packages, while our Amazon order came in no nonsense cardboard boxes. They were even a little less expensive and available with Prime. Again, we like the product, but by the time you buy two (one for each side of the door) you are actually paying more than a fully functioning handle with lock. That is the same pricing anywhere, but it seems odd. Again, they look great, but at that price, the retaining piece to prevent the handle from moving should be metal instead of the plastic that it is. That is why the home improvement store versions are junk I just hope these Amazon ones hang in there.

> 3 dayThe biggest thing to note is we purposely installed it upside down compared to the install directions. They show to install it with the end of the S curve handle pointing upward. But we like these types of handles with the end pointing downward. With it downward it is easier to use your elbow to push down the handle, if your hands are full, and let your arm slide off the handle as you enter. Looking online, some other companies do show them downward as well. I think the handle works just as well either way (we have tried it both ways). If you want to change the end of the handle from pointing up or down to the other way, you just switch which handle you put on the inside of the door and the outside of the door.

Greater than one weekThese are very high quality locksets. I have five of them installed in my house, and the latest two went on my storage shed. The mechanisms work well, even when they get rained on then freeze. They are easy to re-key. I bought a re-keying kit, knowing that I would be installing a bunch of these. None of them have corroded or discolored in any way (the first 5 are two years old). They come with both rounded and square cornered strike plates. If I were to express any dissatisfaction, it would be that the screws that hold the latches in the door work loose with a lot of use. That happened on two of my doors. The solution was to remove the screws, apply a drop of BLUE (you could use purple) Loctite, and re-install the screws. DO NOT USE RED LOCTITE BECAUSE IT IS FOREVER, AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE SCREWS OUT IN THE FUTURE!
