> 3 dayWe have 3 dogs and they bring in a lot of mess. Especially when its rained and wet outside. The app is pretty good. It has some trouble mapping -- better to start it off in broad daylight with all the lights on. It will randomly stop (sometimes to recharge, other times to completely forget to do the kitchen, even though mapped) and will also get stuck on some apparently easy obstacles. (The robot texts me when its hung up, so glad I gave it a good name!). But it also magically gets out of some pretty tough spots. Grab a beer and sit back and watch. I set it to run it 6 days/week; more often is better for us (it wont do a major vacuum, but it will keep up if ran frequently.) I thoroughly clean it weekly. On the robot, I shake out the filter (or replace it) and rinse the collector. I also run the beater and the beaters keeper under water until clean. On the mother ship, I pull and rinse the dust bin, which gets bad if wet outside. I also soap and wash the two filters (or replace them). Its clear a lot of grit gets through the filters into the motor, so expecting a failure. For the HEPA filter, I have not replace it yet, but it sure shakes out a lot of dust. Then I air blast, wipe both down both, and polish the sensors. If I am out of town it consistently crashes within 6+ days (my wife does not clean it). I bet it would work a lot better and with fewer cleanings if you dont have dogs brining in sticks and leaves.

Greater than one weekI purchased two of these robots recently. 1 from Amazon and 1 from Walmart. TLDR: Buyer beware, if the unit arrives broken/defective, then you will have to pay for shipping for a replacement or parts even if the product is never used. I was attempting to work with the company as asked before returning to the seller, but had to return to the seller instead. Shark needs to work on their quality control. We understand where are you coming from, however as stated in the conditions of your warranty, when replacing the main body or the unit, customers are responsible for $25.95 plus taxes for the cost of shipping and handling. You can read it at the end of the manual.----------------------------------------------- 1 robot was purchased for upstairs and 1 for downstairs in my basement. Due to recent home repairs I was unable to open my 2nd shark robot until a few days ago. The product was unused, had all of the labels attached, the filter was spotless, and unregistered. When I went to open and charge the unit, I followed the instructions and sat the unit on the charging base. I attempted to register the product and it would not connect. I left the unit charging overnight and assumed the battery was drained. In the morning I attempted again to add the unit to my shark app with no luck. I removed the robot from the base and the lights completely turned off. I placed it back on the charging station and the lights turned on again and continued going from red (no battery) to blue (charging/Bluetooth). After a few more read through of the instructions, I contacted Shark customer service. During my call, the phone agent registered my account (you cant use it unless its registered to the app) so they knew it had never been used. After explaining the issue to me she sent me a video link and we continued the call through their video support. She walked me through the steps (very nice) and in the end determined the unit was defective and/or the battery was bad and would send a new one. After providing her my shipping information she asks me for a credit card to charge shipping fee to. After some clarification she explains that while the warranty does cover defective units, it does not cover shipping costs. I explained I would not pay for shipping on a brand new, unused product which she verified by registering the product to my account and video calling me for tech support. She offered to send a battery instead, but again advised that it will be $25.00 for shipping. I email their support team and am advised the same thing. Regardless of the issue, if Shark has to send a replacement or part, they will bill you for the shipping. It does not matter if the product is new and unused or gently used. Email from Shark Support: ---------------------------------------- We are sorry about this situation with your unit. We will do our best to have this matter resolved. We understand where are you coming from, however as stated in the conditions of your warranty, when replacing the main body or the unit, customers are responsible for $25.95 plus taxes for the cost of shipping and handling. Greater than one weekI bought this about a week ago and it has not disappointed so far. I have a large ranch style home and 4 cats that are currently shedding for the summer months. This little vacuum has really helped keep the cat hair tumbleweeds away. I have it set to clean daily and do the charge and continue cleaning, so it will run throughout the day until it has cleaned the whole house. We have a sunken conversation room and it has not fallen off the step so far, it will go around it. It works great on carpet and tile floors. It cleans up after my kids very well. I’m very happy that I bought this so far and don’t know why I waited so long to get one.

> 3 dayA great robot vac. Runs on schedule and cleans dog hair everywhere it goes. The only problem I faced was Wi-Fi connecting it while pairing with my phone. It took three attempts to succeed. Now I am just happy it cleans on its own.

> 3 dayIt vacuumed well and keeps the pet hair off the floor and empties itself which is awesome, but it does not care about the schedule I set on the app, it will cut on in the middle of the night. It also does not seem to care about the nogo zone I set, it’s goes into the no clean zone everyday. Also if I tell it to return to dock from the app, it doesn’t and just finishes vacuuming

> 3 dayI have a Belgian Malinois and a German Shepard and it cleans up their fur really well on all hard surfaces. There’s never ANY dust or fur visible on the hard floor, the vacuum is ran once a day on a schedule. As you can imagine, carpet can be difficult to get fur out of for most vacuums. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say that it cleans up 90%-95% of the fur on the carpet. That’s actually really impressive with how much my dogs shed year round. The mapping took some time but once we figured out how to do it properly, it’s been working great! The house is 2,400sqft and it does have to stop one time during cleaning to recharge but it returns to exactly where it left off and finishes the rest of the house. The reason it has to recharge is likely due to it being on the highest suction mode, which is awesome that there is even an option for that. Couldn’t recommend this vacuum enough, it’s drastically lessened cleaning time throughout the week. Also, it’s nice to come home to vacuum lines in the carpet every day that I don’t have to spend time on. The bagless empty on the home base is an awesome feature as well. Just be mindful not to have it run at night because the vacuum on the home base is loud when it pulls everything out of the robot, as it should be. It does a great job at pulling everything out and the loud suction only lasts a couple of seconds. Just know that it may wake you up if you’re asleep. 10/10 recommend, absolutely worth every dime.

> 3 dayIn the FAQ for this advertisement it says that it has mapping. IT DOES NOT. After 2 months of letting my Shark run every day, giving it access to all of the same areas, reinstalling the app etc. I finally called Shark support and they said that any model that start with A9... does NOT have mapping abilities. In the app cleaning history you can see a map of what was cleaned but you will NOT get an interactive map to assign rooms or areas. Amazon should monitor the FAQ for accuracy and misleading information as this is why I paid a hundred dollars more for this robot over ones with similar reviews. The 3 stars is for its effectiveness otherwise. I have 5 cats and 4 small long and short hair dogs. On hard surfaces it does an amazing deep sweep job. On area rugs (low and high ply) it is like a light vacuum, not like a powerful upright but that is all I expected. I do have to clean the brushes and filters once a week but it easily accessible, not screw driver or tools needed, the cover to the brushes just pops open and push tabs. For The dust screen and air filter, I use a soft bottle brush over the sink to keep clean and when it accidentally picks up a wet hairball a wipe it with a disinfecting wipe and wash the removable parts in the sink. I dump the canister container 1x a week but have many pets, kids and a Christmas tree skirt and gifts with tons of glitter (which my cats scatter everywhere) and this little guy keeps it all cleaned up. I still run an upright vacuum a couple of times a month in the rugs for a deep clean and sweep behind and under furniture where my shark cant go but I noticed that bc I run my shark everyday those area have a huge reduction in hair and debris bc with the daily run that hair doesnt have time to blow into those areas. I used to have to sweep daily and vacuum 1-2 times a week to maintain clean floors with my pets and kids but those days are over. Now I can clean the floors as often as a normal household lol I do not think this is loud on hard or soft surfaces at all, even on maximum suction mode. I have vinyl plank floors and area rugs. My hair dryer on its lowest setting is louder than this Shark on its highest setting. Its slightly louder than someone sweeping with a broom on normal suction. That being said, you have to go into the app and manually switch it to maximum suction every time youd Shark is on a scheduled cleaning, I havent found a way to permanently set it to maximum. Pet owner advise: I scheduled my Shark to clean daily while everyone is at work and school but sometimes at night one of the cats will step on the clean button and it will start running. With my 2 story it doesnt wake anyone and thank my cats for pitching in but in a 1 story, where it may come into a room where someone is sleeping it may be a problem so you may want to turn off its power switch at night. Also, light weight food and water bowls will be relocated around the house. I have a heavier porcelain water bowl and it does not move that. A forest of dining room chair legs may cause it to temporarily get confused but as long as it has the space to get under the table and chairs it will eventually find its way out and the more often you allow it to go under your table and chairs the smarter it gets to getting out when its done. Try not to feel sorry for the little guy and help it out, it has to learn on its own. Brain development comes with time, repetitive actions, and experience. Alexa users: say tell Shark to clean or go dock and you have to have a whole conversation to do that: (my sharks name is Jonny 5) Alexa, tell Shark to go dock Your Robot name please? Jonny 5 Alright, your robot is on its way to dock lol but it works

> 3 dayThe pros: it does do a decent job of cleaning and works well on my carpet and much better on my tile. It has only gotten stuck once and sadly was under my desk. The unit has gone throughout my home (areas i want vacuumed). The unit is small enough to get under my couches, bed, and will make its way around my chairs and tables. Overall, there is value in the unit and what it can do. Wearable/Replacement parts seem to be readily available and priced reasonably. The cons: the AI/mapping is rudimentary at best. We have cars that can successfully self-drive but we cant seem to get a vacuum to map a home correctly. Ive now reset my unit 3x and tried to get a good map of my home... and to date without a strong degree of success. I get a map. The map has some areas that look like my home, but.. and esp as you get outside my open floor plan area, it seems to struggle understanding where my bedrooms, baths, office, laundry, etc are in relation to the open area. it seems to use the first 2 runs to do the initial map of your home and doesnt seem to up date the initial map much after that... if at all. After that, it just seems to clean what it mapped on those first 2 runs and doesnt really update the map after that (or so it hasnt seemed to in this case). Help resources stink. Theres not much in the literature and even less online. So, do i wait for some sort of notice that the map is complete or do i accept the initial one and it will update it as it learns more?? The unit runs for 60 minutes then docks. It doesnt matter if the battery is 15% at the end or 80%. it docks after 60 min and there doesnt seem to be any way to change this (ive been completely throughout the settings.. and again.. documentation is terrible esp within the app).Evac and resume will pause for 3 hours regardless if the battery charge is 15% (which it needs some charge) or 80% (it should just resume at this point.. but no, its going to sit for 3 hours). it does this regardless if its cleaning or if its mapping out your house. Firmware updates are pushed and cannot be requested. So, lets assume my firmware is out of date by a release or 2. I cannot download and apply it to my unit. it has to be pushed from some central server somewhere to my unit. Im not sure if my release is current or not (2020 is the date of the last update... which may be WHY the AI/mapping seems quite dated in capability). And, if this is the latest version... that would have me question the commitment by the manufacturer for this product. Overall, the unit is good. It does a fair job at cleaning and does offload the stuff it picks up into the bin which does last a while (have the 45 day bin). The unit does a really good job of avoiding getting stuck and if it vacs up something (like a toddlers sock) it will alert you to the issue. There is so much more potential with this device and it seems much of this is software/firmware related (hardware is pretty solid). Im hoping the company makes some changes to allow some more self-service, improves the mapping and AI capabilities, and releases regular updates. If not, then open this thing up to third party tools which will do this for us.
