> 3 dayThis is the second Shark Apex Ive bought (the first was the green version, without the Zero-M) and now Im having the exact same issue as I had with the first. It is super easy to put together right out of the box- and I love how heavy duty they feel (because some vacuums feel cheaply made). The issue I am having, and had with the first is that it will just stop mid-push. The whole thing acts like it was unplugged and just goes dead. The first vacuum I thought there was a shortage in the wire piece that connects itself to the vacuum on the side. I took it back to Lowes and decided to order on Amazon (faster shipping). Ive had this one about two weeks, and I cannot even do the hallway of my home (not a huge space) without it turning off. I called CS for the first one and they wanted me to pay them $20 to send me a new cord - I paid over $300 for this vacuum, and didnt use it for more than a few weeks. NO WAY am I paying another $20 for them to send it out. He also mentioned that if the motor gets hot, it automatically shuts off. I dont know if thats whats happening here- but if I were vacuuming huge spaces or for long amounts of time Id understand. I just had my vacuum on for 5 minutes to do my tiny hallway and couldnt even get that all the way done before it started turning off. So now Ill have to send this vacuum back to Amazon- and although I love the amazing suction it has- it isnt worth the hassle to buy another one. I am pretty disappointed because I had so many people tell me that Shark was better than Dyson.. =/ I guess Ill have to figure that one out for myself!

> 3 dayThis Rating Is For The “Shark AZ1002 Apex Powered Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with DuoClean & Self-Cleaning Brushroll, Crevice Tool, Upholstery Tool & Pet Power Brush, for a Deep Clean on & Above Floors, Espresso”. This is our first Shark vacuum cleaner. Compared to all the previous vacuums we have owned and used, this one really has awesome suction. It did extremely well on our hardwood floors and our inside carpet. It was not quite as good on our outside carpet in our mudroom entrance. However, having said that, this Shark did better than anything else here too. Also, once the dirt is in this vacuum it does not leave it until you dump the dust cup. We like the no bags, cleanable foam filter and easy to replace HEPA filter. (We had no problems finding these items and purchasing them at Amazon. Now if it ever becomes necessary to change one and/or both of these filters, we will be able to do a quick change and keep right on cleaning). We also like the LED lights shining where one is vacuuming. This is especially true under furniture or dark locations. It takes some getting use to having a vacuum that comes apart to do different types of cleaning jobs. This is both nice and awkward at the same time. It is great for getting under furniture such as sofas or beds, but becomes quite a workout when cleaning a stairwell. One has to hold the canister in one hand and the cleaning wand in the other. This vacuum’s design prevents having a long hose for this task. We need to ask if Shark has an optional longer attachable hose for this type of cleaning job. We have had this Shark AZ1002 Apex vacuum for about a month (as of this writing) and so far so good. We are considering purchasing a second one so we can have one on each floor. This Shark vacuum is expensive for us, but seems to be worth it. It is nice to be able to make two passes over a spot and move on to the next one, knowing you have picked more dirt than anything else would have done. This is a very good high quality product when all is said and done. Our last comment: Nobody here is affiliated with Shark or even Amazon for that matter. These positive comments posted here are how we see it and have been posted accordingly.

> 3 dayThe packaging was clearly resealed. Most everything was already pre-assembled in the box with no packaging surrounding it. All the packaging was just shoved in the box haphazardly. The vacuum has been used previously from what I could tell. I thought for $349 this was a new and not a refurbished one. Only time will tell.

Greater than one weekThe vacuum was great at picking up, hair from a long haired german shepherd and short haird jack russell terrior with a shedding problem. Even the seemingly embedded hair was easily picked up by the vaccum with minimal effort and time. My 2 complaints are: some hair got stuck, but was easily removable from the roller. The canister was small, so dumping was more frequent than i wouldve liked. (0-2 times a depending on the severity of hair) Both problems which were seemingly improved upon in the next vaccum in sharks lineup the: vertex upright shark vacuum

> 3 dayI am the former owner of the Shark Rotator Pro Lift-A-Way. <--- this was my favorite vacuum ever. I have owned it for a few years and would have never considered giving it up until it quit, but my daughter is moving into a new home that is carpeted, so it turned into a hand me down. I thought about purchasing the same again for myself, but the one and only thing that drove me nuts was that hair (mostly my own, which is long) had to be cut from the roller often - so I opted for the Shark APEX AZ1002 DuoClean with Self-Cleaning Brushroll Lift-Away Upright Vacuum. This thing has great suction. I had just vacuumed the day before I got it, then vacuumed again when I got this new one. It picked up so much dust (and dog hair) out of the carpet I was shocked. It is definitely heavier and a little more bulky than my previous vacuum, but it is just a matter of getting used to it. The headlight works great, and I didnt notice until today (Im a couple of weeks in on this thing) that the part that you detach to use the hose (with attachments) has a light as well - thats pretty awesome. The roller has not had any hair wrapped around it. It did have a string that it sucked up from somewhere, but that was easily removed by using the handy hatch that sits above the roller (no need to turn this thing over to clean it). The control buttons are on the handle, up high where they are easily accessed with your thumb- the power button, and the adjustment button. All the things that detach/reattach (the hose, the wand, and the canister) are much better on this model than the last one, except the canister is heavier and take a second to get it on the tracks to remount it. The cord is a little longer than my other Shark, but both were absolutely sufficient and longer than cords on other vacuums I have owned. Would be nice if it was retractable - not sure Shark has a model that does that. Works well on hard floors, but would go with a lighter, more agile model if thats what I needed it for; Im a broom and dustpan kind of person, so no big deal there. If you are vacuuming area rugs, you will need to have someone stand on one end, because it will suck the whole thing up (or get acrobatically creative and do it alone). The area in which the vacuum is a bit lacking would be the hose, when using attachments, is so short, but I dont know how this might be fixed. Two attachments ride on the vacuum, but one of them gets knocked off easy because it sticks out away from the vacuum some. The attachments work find, but seem cheap compared to my previous Shark. The lift a canister is heavy when holding it (detached from the vacuum). I had gone around the house sucking cobwebs out of corners and near the ceiling so there was a lot of moving around - this thing will give you a work out. My other Shark came with a base with wheels that you could set the canister on and it would roll behind you - wish this one had that option. Someone in another review mention that the cord holder thing that keeps the cord up off the ground while you vacuum didnt work well - thats true. It gets knocked out of there pretty easy. It may have been the same review that someone also mention that the deal that holds the hose (like a ball into a joint) doesnt work well. Ive only knocked it loose once. The first time I used this vacuum, I noticed it doesnt really fluff the carpet up as well as my other Shark - I think it must have something to do with the hair free roller - I miss the stripes in the carpet. I would recommend buying extra filters so that when you wash them out, you can alternate while the ones that were just cleaned dry out. None of the less attractive things mentioned above is a deal breaker. This vacuum does the job.

> 3 dayI’ve now had this vacuum for a little over 4 years and I still love it as much as when I bought it. It picks up everything on all types of flooring. The suction has never dyed out, the filters are easy to change, I love that it comes apart for stair cleanings . It’s overall a great vacuum! Highly recommend.

> 3 dayI purchased this because Ive had shark products before. The suction is most important to me and this vacuum meets my needs. I like being able to keep up the maintenance on this machine. Everything is labeled nicely, so its easy to take apart, if needed. Its lightweight, which I like, and works well removing pet hair on furniture. The only downside to this machine is the rotation, its a little more stiff than I expected, which makes it harder to swivel,

> 3 dayI bought this to replace an older vacuum—does a much better job! I love the latch to remove the dust it opens from the bottom meaning you dont breath in all the dust that collets from the top. Really good suction—again, does a much better job than our old vacuum. Very happy with the purchase, shark vacuums are great.

> 3 dayBought this because I have two super-shedders. I can vacuum a room and within 5 minutes I have tumbleweeds. Purchased a robotic vacuum which is okay, but I wanted something more heavy duty to run once or twice a week that would pick up more than just surface stuff. Also I was very tired of cutting wrapped up pet hair out of the robotic vacuum. It was driving me crazy as I had to do that every time I ran the thing. Thought this would be the solution since so many pet owners loved it. Will admit the Zero-M is a total game-changer when it comes to not having to clean out the pet hair. This thing sucked the hair right up and not a single strand was clogging the brushes. Thats a flipping miracle considering that I have to take scissors to the robo vac every time I use it. I was really looking forward to getting this vacuum. What I did not expect was it size (which is only exceeded by its ugliness). However, I was willing to overlook the ugly factor if the thing worked great. It did work great but the vacuum is huge. First off it has a giant fat cannister on the front which makes it impossible to get underneath anything, unless you are willing to stop and deal with removing the cannister. I have too many pieces of furniture to do that. Sheesh. So when I was vacuuming the rooms were actually getting LESS clean than they were with the robot vacuum which was going under stuff. Secondly, the thing KILLED my shoulder to vacuum with. Yes I have a minor rotator cuff tear, and yes this thing only weighs 17 lbs, but when you are trying to push against carpeting it is clumsy at best. Especially when you cant get under anything. The handle is huge (tall) and feels like it was designed by a 63 engineer and not the average 54 woman who probably does the majority of vacuuming at most homes. Im 54 and the top of the handle was only about 2 shorter than my shoulder, making for super-awkward movements. Handle also has a weird design that prevents you from being able to pick the machine up easily unless using 2 hands. Last but not least it what I said about the ugly factor. Just about everyone who looked at the vacuum the day it arrived was like whoa whats that...??? The machine has a weird disproportionate factor where the vacuum part that meets the floor seems small in comparison to the rest of the machine making the whole thing look very weirdly top-heavy and the enormous, and very cumbersome canister simply adds to that problem. I have a lot of stairs and cant imagine trying to haul this thing up and down stairs. Ugh. Sorry Shark. How about putting Zero-M on one of the robotics that empties itself -- and mops too! Theres something pet owners actually need. Update: Exchanged this vacuum for the Zero-M DuoClean STICK vacuum which I like MUCH better. It also has a glitch in that it wont stand up on its own (falls over if you take your hands off it - the go around is to remove the canister / motor top part when you stop vacuuming, which sounds like a hassle but it actually pretty easy the way it is designed). Also it is only half as powerful as the upright above, but SO much easier to use.

21-11-2024I seriously love this vacuum! It’s so easy to move around and clean! The reason I gave it 4 starts is because I’m not thrilled about how cheap the plastic is around the wheels. I’ve had this for less than 2 years and only use it in one carpeted room, and it started to crack, and each use it seems to get worse, to the point that it wouldn’t stand up without me leaning it forward against the wall. Well it fell over and completely broke, so now I have to buy a replacement part, which isn’t covered. So at least it’s only $90, rather than having to buy a whole new vacuum. Just wish the plastic wasn’t so cheap right there. Hoping it doesn’t happen again.
