Snappy Tools Plug Cutter, 3/8

> 3 dayAlthough I am using it only in soft wood, this plug cutter quickly and easily cuts plugs. If used on wood of sufficient thickness, it will bevel one end of the plug, which makes for easier insertion in the hole. Note that it is properly used only in a drill press.

> 3 dayThe worst plug cutter Ive ever used. Tons of chatter and the resulting plugs were smaller than 3/8.

> 3 daymaking plugs for Ipe.... it says drill press only but i can make it work with my variable speed drill.... nice a slow to avoid over heating, cut a few and plug a few.... If it is cutting ipe easy enough than it should be fine on any wood at all.

> 3 dayWorks best in a drill press, it has a tendency to tear out some fibers from the plug so you will end up with a few trash plugs, overall not bad but could definetly be improved

> 3 dayIt worked good it does waste a lot of wood. The size it cuts is dead on or at least it matched my bit perfectly or a bit tight. Im happy with it.

> 3 dayThe first thing I noticed was the finish was rough and did not have the matte or semi-glossy sheen of other plug cutters I have had in the past (and the one thats pictured). There were little bits of white gradoo stuck in the crevices like it had not been cleaned before packing. I wonder if a final step in the manufacturing process had been skipped. When I went to use it in my drill press, it seemed to need a lot of force to work into the wood. It also squealed and chattered. I honed the cutting edges which seemed to help a little, but sometimes it cuts well and sometimes it chatters like crazy., not sure why. Im considering throwing it out and trying something else, but it does work, just obnoxiously, so I guess Ill use it for now.

> 3 dayHad a product like this years ago and it worked very well but it disappeared. Bought this product to cut plugs out of 1/8 poplar. Even though this product looks exactly like my old cutter, it does not perform anywhere near as well. Using the slowest speed on my drill press and not forcing the cut, the product still overheated and produce a raggedy looking plug.
