> 3 dayThis guy works great! I had to cut a bunch of plugs for a cumaru deck (cumaru is a Brazilian hardwood that has a 50+ year lifespan but that’s a different story). I tried using a cylindrical plug cutter but, whether I cut fast or slow, made more smoke then plug and by the time I got one cut it looked more like a guinea pig turd than a wooden plug. I picked this one up and it tore through making 70+ plugs in no time and was as sharp as it started out as. I have been very impressed by this plug-cutting but and would highly recommend it do you anybody. It is well worth the price!

> 3 daySuggest limiting use to a drill press for stability. Plugs are nice to use but the counter sink depth needs to be more significant than a non-chamfered plug. Wood thickness could cause minor limitation in applications.

07-06-2025Cuts perfect and true 3/8 plugs. Ive probably cut close to 100 plugs from full figured walnut and around 20 from some really sappy pine and its still cutting perfect. I really like that if your able to cut the plug from 3/4 material it will chamfer the top of the plug on its own to make fitting them in the home a breeze, but I have cut plenty from 1/2 stock to save on material and just touched them up with a file. If or when it finally breaks I wont hesitate to buy another.

> 3 daymaking plugs for Ipe.... it says drill press only but i can make it work with my variable speed drill.... nice a slow to avoid over heating, cut a few and plug a few.... If it is cutting ipe easy enough than it should be fine on any wood at all.

> 3 dayThe plug is exactly the correct size. I have found that I need to cut the plug quickly to help the cutter not to burn the wood (walnut at the moment).

> 3 dayAfter reading many poor reviews of other plug cutters, I decided to spend the extra few dollars for this one. Im glad I did, as it seems to do the job well. I cut a couple dozen plugs out of Butternut (havent cut anything hard with it yet), and I got pretty clean results. I gave it 4/5 stars only because it came covered in a black sooty coating, which was a bit of a mess. I know its to protect from rust or whatever while in storage, but an oil or wax coating would be nicer. Not a big deal.

> 3 dayFirst off... this is my first plug cutter so I dont have previous experience with plug cutters that I am comparing this to. I bought this cutter to cover a dozen or so screws in a stair handrail project I was working on and it turned out great. My only complaint is that it was not very sharp. It required a bit of force and it seemed to burn its way into the wood rather than cut. Maybe red oak is a little hard for this cutter? Maybe Ill try sharpening it before the next time I use it? Overall this cutter served its purpose and helped me complete my project. I wouldnt expect this to last for a lot of uses but for a few small projects and for the price its more than adequate.
