Its really just more of the same with some alternate scoring options, which is fine with me, the game is great as is, makes it really easy to incorporate into the base game

This expansion adds a little more depth to a great game, while also adding even more beautiful birds.

This is a fun, relaxing game. Ive played the solitaire version as well as with other players. Its engaging, the illustrations are beautiful, the dice and eggs have a good feel/weight to them, and the game boards are nice & sturdy. Its a strategy game, but its not the sort where you have to hurt/hinder other players. Its more about making the best points-generating-engine for yourself and your own goals as a player. (Besides, you really dont know who won until the points are actually calculated at the end, so theres honestly no stress about it.)

Some people didn’t like how this pack altered the game play. I think it is improved play. I did, however, choose this one over the Oceania expansion because that one adds a food source, changes the play mats and dice. This one adds a bunch of bird cards, and some round-end goal cards. Some of the new birds carry specific end-of-round bonuses which is new. Amazingly, the game makers are extremely accessible on their website. I posted a question and Jamey (co-owner? I think. My wife photographed him once) answered the post in about two hours! Overall, super fun game. There is a learning curve for sure, but once you get it, it’s super fun. My wife likes that you don’t really know who’s “winning” until you tally scores at the end.

Need the original to play this. I was too excited when I purchased and must have not read through the description haha. Will have to buy original.

A great expansion with new added elements that take the game to the next level. I really enjoy the new Nectar food, which can be used as a wild food option in the game. Additionally the new player boards are great - we probably will only use these boards in all our games from now on.

Ya know, Im a big fan of Wingspan. Love the game, and the European expansion. Highly recommend them. But, this expansion, instead of just adding more cards luke the Europen expansion, adding a number of new elements that just made the whole game a bit harder to teach and a bit more complex, without adding much fun. Would have preferred just more birds, eggs, etc. Ended up taking all the cards back out and playing without it.

Honestly, this release should of been a marketed as a stand-alone expansion that can support play for 2 players with the option of mixing the expansion with the core-set for 3 or more players. For the budget gamer, this expansion is well balanced when played by itself via 2 player stand-alone game. This is ideal if you are experienced in “Wingspan-ology“ and don’t want the unnecessary bulk of the core game or want a smaller 2 player variant of Wingspan. From my experience, everyone and their extended family owns a copy of Wingspan. If you own core set: Add the dice, boards, and cubes. Skip the player marker. I honestly never use it. Play as usual per 2 player game. If you don’t own the core set: Take two each of the food tokens & grab an old dice bag/place the tokens in the bag. Draw 5 tokens from bag to form the bird feeder, play tokens as if they were dice by drawing from bag at random when needed. Add a few sticky notes for turn tally and score keeping. Keep mental note of board grid as you play your cards from your hand onto table. Play as usual with core set rules per 2 player game. Note: this shouldn’t be too difficult for experienced wingspan players. The new card functions are balanced and work very well with each other when played with just the expansion set. I haven’t played the expansion cards with the core set yet. High quality on box contents. This expansion is simply beautiful. I recommend this expansion to other players that enjoy the core set. Update 12/13/19: I’ve played with expansion with core set. I am not pleased with the volume of the draw deck when mixed with core set. Thus painfully diluting the interactions with the European Expansion set of cards. With 3 games played, I only got a total of 5 expansion birds into play. Maybe mix 1/2 of the core set draw cards with contents of expansion in order to get more expansion out into play. I know other card games on the market suffer from excessive cards with continuous expansions. Honestly, I prefer playing this expansion with just 2 players without core set mixed in.

Love this game. Played tons of new games during the pandemic and this was one of my favorites. Very good quality.

Wingspan is a very clever and fun game. I purchased this expansion pack on accident. I thought I was purchasing the game. I played the game with my daughter at her house and absolutely fell in love with it! When I came home from vacation at her house, I immediately ordered the game for myself. I accidentally purchased this expansion pack instead. However, I didnt notice it until they came out to visit me and we went to play the game and discovered it was the expansion pack. In looking through it, we saw that it was a fantastic expansion pack. If I needed an expansion pack, I would have kept it, but I didnt because they are not enough people to play it. But, it is really well done and I highly recommend it. I recommend both the game and the expansion pack if you need an expansion pack. God is clearly blessed the inventor of this game with much cleverness. Well done!
