I have beat the HELL out of this flashlight. Its survived 20 foot falls onto concrete. Its fallen off the truck toolbox onto pavement at 40 mph, and EVERYTIME it turns on. The only thing Ive had an issue with is the belt clip. The screws loosen up and need attention, but superglue takes care of that. It also bends after some abuse, but its spring steel and bends back with a little determination. 10/10 would buy again.

Great light, I work outside at night a lot, love the brightness. Can also dim for longer battery life. The only disappointment is I wish the dim setting was before the strobe setting.

Firstly I never write reviews, but the ProTact HL-X is the exception. I have had this light for ~2.5 years and use my light as a daily driver for ranch work and everyday carry. I have dropped my Protact probably 5-8 times from waist and arm height on concrete and hard sandy surfaces each totaling to something like 10-16 drops. I have dropped this in a cattle water troughs multiple times. My beam use averages around 15-45 minutes on average roughly every 1-2 days. Like some of the pictures posts by other reviewers, I have scuffs and some coat wear but this flashlight - just keeps going. Aside from the rugged reliability, this flashlight has very good throw, and an excellent throw/spill balance. Its fairly small and compact makes this light viable for pocket EDC or EDC bag carry. Im sure the sightly smaller HL model would be better suited for pocket carry. Looking at youtube reviews about this HL-X and similarly sized EDC-oriented Protacts yields similar praise. I dont know about Protacts larger than the HL-X but the portable Protacts seem to be very reliable. If you are like me, the reliability factor is all that matters when it comes to gear and big ticket items. And if I can get away with reliability without breaking the bank is a rare occasion. This is one such occasion. From a random Youtube top comment said (for using HL-X as a Ar-15 gun light), I switched almost exclusively from Surefire to Streamlight about four years ago. I can say without a doubt that my Streamlights are equal to or better than my Surefire lights in every way Despite being manufactured in China, this flashlight is premium and at a higher quality than Olight, Nitecore, Thurlite brands, especially in the circuitry. Reliability is likely on par with comparable Surefire EDC lights but at 1/2 the price. Simply put, I trust this flashlight with my life. I plan on buying a couple of more for my 4runner and house. Highly recommend purchasing a couple (or more) of the Streamlight 18650 USB Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Batteries. Been using these rechargeable li-ion for 2.5ish years and have not had any issues and have nothing but a reliable experience. Do yourself a favor and buy this flashlight.

I bought this light to add to my duty belt as an in-between light. I have the Streamlight Pro-Tac 1L (single CR123) as a pocket light, and I have a large patrol flashlight. This light is convenient because my weapon light and my pocket light uses the same batteries as the Pro-Tac HL-X. The HL is similar to my Fenix TK-22. The Fenix has a larger front bezel and a slimmer grip. For the size, the price tag, and the continuity of the battery, I would buy the HL again. If this light is like the other seven streamlights I have/had, the only failure will be me losing them. Purchase with confidence.

I have this one, the new Streamlight dual fuel 1000 lumen, and three of the 600 lumen battery only Pro Tac HL. Used as part of my everyday carry gear. Heres the review: The 600 Lumen is BRIGHTER and has a WHITER light. I was surprised by this and used both the rechargeable (Fully charged) and new Streamlight brand batteries. I couldnt believe it. I even tried the same batts out of the 600 lumen. The 1000 lumen Pro Tac HL-X has a yellowish light, and not as bright as the 600 lumen Pro Tac HL. I have called and emailed Streamlight and they are ignoring me.

This flashlight is real bright and durable in that I have dropped it a number of times with no ill effect. I have gone through a ton of flashlights in the last six or seven years, and other than a JetBeam which they no longer make and this one, they have all pretty much stunk. Fenix and O light have failed me on numerous occasions, - various models and various configurations as has Klaurus and several other brands. The rechargeables are a non- starter as the batteries are super pricey, and when you use flashlights as much as I do, their decreased effectiveness after several recharges make them a waste of money. The one real drawback with this light and with all Cree real bright lights is that they have very limited battery life especially when used in their high output setting.

The Streamlight ProTac HL-X is a 1000-lumen EDC tactical light that comes with two CR123A batteries. The ProTac HL-X uses Multi-Fuel innovation meaning it can use two CR123A (included) and Streamlight’s SL-B26 Li-Ion USB rechargeable battery pack (not included). The Streamlight ProTac HL-X features a tactical tail cap switch for momentary or constant operation, three different user-selectable programs, and a pocket clip for convenience. The body is constructed of 6000 series machined aluminum with Type II Military Spec anodizing, which helps make the ProTac HL-X extremely durable and abrasion resistant. Packaged with a removable pocket clip and holster. Available in Black.
