> 3 dayBought for use at security guard job. This light is BRIGHT. It lights up the side of a 4 story hotel. Build quality is excellent. Now to see if it will hold up over time. So far so good.

> 3 dayIve bought 4-5 of the 750 lumen Protac HL flashlights and given them away as gifts except one that my wife keeps. I needed to order a flashlight for myself and came across the HL-X w/ 1000 lumen. Ordered one to try then maybe a second to replace my wifes 750 lumen. I fired the flashlight up and was not impressed. The brightness is barely brighter than the 750 lumen HL. Side my side the new HL-X and the old HL are exactly the same brightness but the HL-X has a slightly more defined spill border (where the light ends and darkness meets is clear and not faded). Thats it. The body of the flashlight is the same as an HL, the brightness is the same as an HL, but the clip is screwed onto the frame with the HL-X but the problem is, the clip is folded in a spot were it gets in the way of removing the tail cap. The clip is weak - it wiggles easily on your pockets. It is supposed to be a dual-sided clip, but to try to make the baseball cap clip-on users happy, they ruin it for everyone else. You can get the exact same out of buying the HL and get a tighter clip. tl;dr - Protac HL 750 is practically the same as the HL-X 1000 but the HL 750 costs a little less, has a wider light spill, and a better clip. Its not 1000 lumen - more like 800. UPDATE - Sent back for a replacement. Received the replacement - the new HL-X I received is maybe 50 lumens brighter. This is tested in pitch black outside a city in the country. I am very disappointed in the HL-X, and the clip is extremely weak and gets in the way of removing/replacing the endcap. It looks and feels like a Protac HL 750.
