> 24 hourWell.. Wow. I do not know why it took me so long to order one of these, given their reputation. But I was only doing myself a disservice. I regularly carry a Fenix PD35 2014 Edition 965 Lumen 2xCR123A light in my left pants pocket, but it is both a drain on the pricey batteries and incredibly overpowered for your standard I dropped something in the dark kind of a thing, so I also always carry something else in the 9oclock-most corner of my left rear pocket. After trying 2 and 1 AA lights I found the barrel diameter sufficient to be annoying, and moved to 2-AAA penlights. After trying several and chipping a tooth doing something with one in my mouth and something falling on the light, one with a hat clip became ideal. Enter the MicroStream, the pocket clip is excellently designed (most others rip off rather soon for me, this one has yet to even have the finish scratched) and does in fact work extremely well. Ontop of that, the momentary and constant on capabilities are done with a touch of quality one expects out of any Streamlight, Surefire, Fenix etc. without compromise from the lights size. Additionally, it is so light that I genuinely do not notice its either in my pocket or clipped to my hat, even the HAT suffers no noticeable weight variation nor does the clip dig in to you. To top it all off, its bright enough to shine at the ceiling and illuminate a dark room well enough to get dressed, shave, tie your tie, and be out the door. I did just that this weekend with no problems. The battery life is surprisingly long, and best of all its powered by ONE AAA (Duracell Procell for me) which makes more/spare batteries as easy and cheap as can be. Ive also dropped it from about 6 feet onto a curb and then asphalt, on accident, and it didnt even scratch the finish much less affect functionality. For the price point, the fit finish and function being unsurpassed, and the assurance of StreamLight customer service, if you dont own one and are looking for a light of this species, stop looking. Dont waste your money on anything less than the Streamlight Microstream.

> 24 hourI know the description says 40 some odd lumens and I suppose thats what it is, but just know thats barely enough to check in your mail box to see if anythings in there. If you where changing a tire, forget about it.

> 24 hourThis is the flashlight I carry the most, by far. It packs a lot of power in a super compact and lightweight package. It’s durable enough to rely on, but cheap enough to beat up and not feel bad about it. For the cost of some flashlights I could buy 12 of these.

> 24 hour4 or 5 year owner of this flashlight here, I have probably purchased 6 or 7 of these. MY problem is that it is so small and compact that I always lose it before I can experience any problems with it. I work in commercial maintenance and this thing is as big and heavy as the Sharpe I keep next to it in my front pocket. This light goes with me everywhere because it will provide a big enough spread to hold out in front of you for walking. Also however, If i look at something up close like a lock, duct, or really anything, its bright enough to hurt your eyes if you catch a glare on a shiny metal part. The S clip is for your hat or a pocket. Works super well and people I work with are like whaaa!!!. On that note I have raked in business for streamlight as every guy I work with has bought one. I tell them $15 on Amazon and they look down at their own flashlight in disgust knowing what they paid for theirs. If I had to complain I guess after using it every day I would say: The clip spins on the aluminum and scratches a ring around it. Goes away kinda with normal handling and use There is not much , if any warning the battery is low. It has died on me in ceilings and I wasnt happy. Only this last ones hat clip part has broken. The rest with heavy use have not. Maybe a bad one (it happens) If you on the fence between this and a competitor thats in this size/price/brightness/durability/versatility range You cant go wrong with this. And by the way I dont get anything from streamlight OR Amazon for this. Get at me you two im always looking for sponsors. Reviews always help me and I feel like I should pay it forward. So buy it and move on with your life already. Youre welcome.

> 24 hourHas become my EDC light in both suits and jeans. Have been amazed at how bright this little light is, and pleasantly surprised at the battery life. Not as bright as the two-battery CR123 Surefire I purchased a decade ago for EDC. But quickly realized the Surefire was a bit too big for anything but belt carry. I’ve had this little Streamlight in my pocket nearly every day for the last two months. I’ve been surprised to find it’s bright enough to create a visual hinderance if a person needed it in a defensive situation, especially with a fresh battery, but even after some use. As some raters have mentioned, the button is stiff. This is due to the stout rubber cap rather than the switch itself. You can ease this problem by loosening the cap’s retaining bezel slightly. The s-bend pocket clip works great for regular pocket use. However, on my sample the reverse bend isn’t roomy enough to fully accommodate a cap brim as advertised. This is my only complaint. Overall, very pleased with the light and the price point. 2-year update: Even more elated with this light over time. Daily carry and nearly daily use for 2 years now. During power outages, car restoration/repair, late night dog walks, helping aging eyes read tire pressures on sidewalls, behind TV cable connections, sheepdogging weird noises in house at night… you name it. Survived multiple inadvertent washing machine torture tests. Battery life continues to be great; have learned that battery expires suddenly, rather than dimming over time. Not a critique, just something to be aware of. Battery life is quite good, and light is bright. AAA alkaline is economical so I don’t hesitate to use; I found myself limiting use of my CR123 Surefire, which the Microstream replaced as EDC. Over time I’ve purchased 6 more as gifts for family and their significant others. Again, very pleased.

> 24 hourMy review of small EDC (every day carry, and more) flashlights. Be advised, EDC lights are for for infrequent use, not daily/hourly use. For daily use, I like the Thorfire C8 with a Japanese (Sanyo or Sony) or Korean (LG) 18650 LiOH cell, and an appropriate charger. No cells from China. I need a light for the glovebox, an EDC for my briefcase, an EDC for bedside, and a spare. For the glovebox I have chosen a Thorfire KL03, powered with an expensive CR123 Li battery. The reason for this choice is because the battery has a 10 year shelf life (if from a reputable Japanese manufacturer), and will provide light in an emergency for at least 60 minutes. For EDC I originally chose the Thorfire PF01; it used a single AAA cell, and had a nice moonlight mode, so I could stealth around the house without disturbing anyone. After the Thorfire PF01, I got a second generation PF01 that had a useless (unless you had 30 minutes to regenerate Visual Purple) moonlight mode. It was disappointing. I migrated to a Thorfire PF03. It is smaller than the PF01, which is much more compact, but the switch actuation pressure is much higher. It was a good lower-cost option. My [as of now] final choice is the Streamlight 66418 light. One AAA cell. No gimmicky modes; typical streamlight instant on (with a pressure), and constant on (with a firmer click). No multi modes. No flashing. Best of all: it has both a straight clip (for pockets) and a reverse clip for hat brims. No more head-lights (Petzl) that remind my wife of a trip to the OBGYN. If you want an EDC with a moonlight mode: Thorfire PF03. If you want an EDC for EVERYTHING: Surfire 66418.

> 24 hourQuick review: Great focused flashlight for tight quarters. Single AAA battery keeps it small but wont give you more than 2 hours of light. Perfect for electronics work, engine work, keeping in your glove box, taking out the trash, or any other area where you want a lot of light without a lot of fuss. Long review: I love this flashlight over any other Ive ever owned. The 20 lumens of output is intensely bright in a concentrated cone shaped beam (I can see the beam at night its that bright!). At about 8 feet away the main brunt of the light is about a foot or so wide. Furthermore, this light gives out a large dim ring around the center (8 feet wide at 8 feet away). This secondary ring not only makes this light good as a general flood light around the house in the dark; but for close quarters work where 20 lumens is just too much, you can aim a bit to the side and enjoy a more mild 3-5 lumens. In terms of how far away you can use this light, it depends. The beam is very focused so it does carry some light for quite a distance, but because its only a single small LED dont expect that much. Id say that at night it remains good for up to about 20-30 feet and still useful with some squinting at about 50 feet. The light color is 80% white with tinges of blue and yellow mixed in. The build quality is top notch with a sturdy clip and anodized finish. I have scuffed the finish up a bit but the flashlight almost self heals and keeps them hidden. I also get the feeling I could run this over a few times with a car and it would keep on going. For a gauge of how big it is, its about the exact size and thickness of my middle finger (male). I have no problems carrying it in a shirt pocket or side pocket of my pants as though it were a pen, and it doesnt fall out at the drop of a hat. The only obvious downside to a light like this is the size vs battery trade off. Streamlight says that the light will only last about an hour and a half on a single AAA battery. From my experience thats about accurate as well, although I usually change the battery out at the hour mark just to be safe. For me however, I prefer the smaller size over a longer battery life. In summary, this light is easily worth the $20 price tag if you want to take a step up from lesser mini mag lites. Its very comfortable to use and grip, and it seems like itll provide many years of service. As long as you dont mind using up a few AAA batteries, especially if youre a heavy user, you cant go wrong with this flashlight either for yourself or as a gift for others.
