> 3 dayIve been a Streamlight user for probably a decade. Started with the 2aaa model and still use one occasionally. I really like the size of the single aaa. The trade off in size for being dimmer wasnt a big deal. Then this came along and it seemed like the best of both worlds, bright and small. And it is. For a little while. And then it gets dim. Really dim. Really fast. It seemed like with the alkaline version that I would have to change the battery maybe every other month. With this it seems to need recharging almost weekly. And it isnt really a big deal, except that you need to remember to do it. And it seems that the only time I can remember to do it is when Im out somewhere and I need the light and its not bright enough for what I need it for. It would almost be better to have a 150 lumen light that puts out a constant, or slightly dimming, light than a 250 that seems to dim over the course of a few minutes. Perhaps the software on future versions could include a battery check feature that shows the charging led as green or red when the tail switch is activated. Maybe green until it reaches 75% and then red after. Or have a reserve function where you can click three times and get a little brightness back. Now, all of that said, I am still carrying it. I still use it.

> 3 dayThis is about the perfect light for everyday carry. This AAA version is shorter and lighter than the rechargeable version and I prefer simply installing a new battery versus having to recharge. It is sufficiently bright for practical purposes in everyday life. This AAA model has on/off and thats it. No fumbling around with different modes. No nonsense. Pull it off your pocket and hold the button for momentary or click it in all the way to keep it on until you click it again. Heres the homerun: the 2-way clip that allows you to clip this to the brim of your hat for an instant headlamp. Its light enough to not pull your hat down or otherwise be a nuisance. The rechargeable model, in my opinion, has too much leverage and will cause the brim of your hat to drop. Ive lost probably 6 of these over the years and I always order a new one immediately. Its that good. Oh, and its cheap too compared to other brand-name flashlights.

> 3 dayMy wife examined the Nite Ize Inova XP LED penlight which I received for Christmas and mentioned that she lost her penlight at work and has been doing without for several months, never remembering to buy one when she is at a store. I explained the twist cap switch mechanism of the Inova to her and mentioned that Streamlight made a similar penlight with a push button switch. We decided to order the one cell size Streamlight so that she could choose the one she liked best. I like the twist cap switches on the Inova flashlights as they make it almost impossible to accidentally turn on the lights in a pocket or belt pouch. The push button switch on the Streamlight proved to be quicker and easier to use just as we expected. What I didnt expect was the amount of force required to put the light in constant mode. Carrying the penlight clipped in a pocket, I believe it would be difficult for the light to be turned on accidentally. I do believe that it would be vulnerable if carrying it in a soft pouch or loose in a pocket. If I need another penlight I will buy a Streamlight. However, for lights carried in pouches, loose in pockets or jammed into a drawer or glove compartment, I will stick with Inova. Both lights are durable, dependable, well made and have strong pocket clips. My wife chose the Streamlight to carry at work as a night shift nurse. Her only real question about it is how does the manufacturer intend for the lanyard to be attached? She slipped the split ring onto the pocket clip but does not think it very secure.

> 3 dayI know the description says 40 some odd lumens and I suppose thats what it is, but just know thats barely enough to check in your mail box to see if anythings in there. If you where changing a tire, forget about it.

> 3 dayI had one of these years ago before I switched to the USB rechargeable units. I ordered another to keep around since my USB one takes a long time to charge, so I would have a backup ready to go at anytime (I have 2 young kids, so I have plenty of batteries on hand). This one is not near as bright as I remember the old one being. It could be my imagination. I do know that the USB ones are WAY brighter.

Greater than one weekA long time friend gave me one as a gift. Loved it so much I bought 2 more. A word of advice passed along from my Friend. These are used on the production floor at the plant he is one of the Managers at. A flickering of the bulb was occurring when a name brand but lesser quality battery was being used. Switching to a better battery solved the problem. I received Eveready Alkaline with mine. I will say that was not the brand his company had purchased in bulk.

> 3 dayThe Streamlight Microstream single AAA powered flashlight may be the most effective device I can carry to illuminate small areas in a hurry. It is all about its momentary on tail switch, and one output mode that make this a worthy light. Features I like about this flashlight: A very purposeful design. Tail Switch Design. Momentary On. Matte Black Finish that Lasts, Type II. Aluminum Body. Perfect Size for Easy Handling. Hat/Belt Clip. Great Feature. 45 Lumens are plenty for a small AAA EDC light. Runs on a single AAA battery. Soft, wide beam. Neck/Carry Adjustable Lanyard. Well Made. Weighs One Ounce with the battery. Features that could be added or improved on: Include a Lithium based battery versus the included alkaline one. A more neutral color temperature would be welcome. A higher water resistance rating. In a sea of IPX8 lights, this one is IPX4. Overall, I recommend this light based on many years of use. I never knew about all the fancy AAAs variants out there. I am excited about those, but I tend to grab the Microstream first when I want to take a look at something around the house. My old standby that I plan to keep using until it stops.

> 3 dayA month or so ago we had some really bad storms and while at work our power went out. Like in most offices we had two flash lights for this type of emergency. I grabbed it and tried to turn it on.....nothing. I checked the batteries and they expired 3 years ago.... I went and checked the other flash light and same story, expired 2 years ago. The best part of getting those flashlights was that we used my Streamlight to find them! Once we put new batteries in those old beasts (using 3 D batteries each) my little guy put out a better light than both. Later after we were sent home early due to now power, I decided to stop by the grocery store for some things. When I got there the power was out throughout the entire store minus the registers. So again, this little guy came in handy and I shopped for groceries in the dark. It totally felt like it was a end of days in there lol. This is my real life application of the Streamlight. Pros: -Small: Smaller than a pen, and fits in your 5th pocket on some guy jeans. -Bright: This has a good beam for the size. You wont light up the world, but for a pocket light trying to get around it serves that purpose well. -Clip: The clip is a double clip. On for a pocket, and the other fits the bill of a hat to mimic a headlamp. ( I use this in my carport since there is not light there. -Single button use: This does NOT have a distress option which I am grateful for. You push the back button on and off. SIMPLE -Sturdy: This guy has a solid feel to it. -Battery: THE HONEST SELLING POINT OF THIS GUY!!!!: it uses one single AAA battery. Not some weird battery size. Very common and easy to come by battery. If I needed to replace this battery in an emergency, SIMPLE! Con: -Finish: After about 2 months of daily carry (in an office setting) the finish has turned to more of a stone washed look. Not a bad look, but just showing wear faster than I thought. All in all this guy sits right with my keys, phone, knife and pen as my EDC set up.

> 3 dayPros: Very lightweight, very small, and very practical. Cons: None from what I can see. Thoughts: This is my first time investing and looking into carrying a small every day care light. Because of that, I do not have much to compare it to besides an iphone light. With that said, however, I still enjoy using this light 100x over my iphone light. The first day I got it, I was using it on a baseball cap as a headlight to install a light fixture on the ceiling, which freed up my hands to do the work I needed. I carry it on my personnel daily, and dont even notice in my pocket. Even in gym shorts, there is no weight pulling my shorts down. Because of that, I will always have it on me, and use it as needed. The stream of light is strong, do not make the mistake of pointing it in someones eye and flashing them, because they will be stunned for a moment. This can be an obviously good thing if you were started un expectantly and shine this in someones face, in self defense. I use this while grilling at night, walking my dog at night, and looking into small crevasses to retrieve dropped/lost items. What I enjoy most is that it is so damn light, there is no reason NOT to carry this item on me. Because of that, I give it five stars, and highly recommend it. Update 2019: love this thing. Use it at work all the time. So small and compact I often forget it’s in my pocket. But I have to be extra careful with it in my pant pockets. Bc I forget about it I may sometimes brush against the door panels and scratch my paint. Still love it, 10/10 perfect for EDC at work, home, and mischief.
