> 3 dayLets address the most common complaint with Tabac first, the scent. I love this scent. It smells like an old fashioned barbershop to me with a delightful powdery kick. Admittedly I dont dislike many soaps, but out of all the soaps o do have, which is at least 20, tabac is in the top 5 easy abs probably the topoint 3. With that being said, if you find that you dont like new soaps at times, especially more old fashioned type soaps, Id stay away from this until you can smell it before buying. I keep my bowl of Tabac on my counter at all times because I love to just pick it up and smell it randomly and it looks great sitting there. (Picture provided) As far as the quality of the lather. Its top notch shave soap. We have very hard water here in the Great Basin Desert and this soap lathers up to a superb yogurt like consistency. Im not greedy when I apply it to my face either, I love to apply a thick coat. I use a bowl to lather because it produces so much and it is very fast in getting where it needs to be. Great protection and slickness. Post shave feel is amazing as well. I use the Tabac balm and aftershave as well and my face feels AMAZING all day. The only way you go wrong with Tabac is if you fall in the minority with the scent. It might not be for you, but it sure is one of my favorites.

Greater than one weekThis is a excellent shaving soap. That being said, how can it be worth $40.00 when there are so many other excellent shaving soaps on the market at a fraction of the cost? I bought this same soap, according to Amazon, in July 2011 for less than $20.00. I would never pay the price being asked now. Now, for a review of the soaps qualities and little about my shaving history. I have been shaving with soap and a double edged razor for forty years. Thats all Ive ever used, except for a dozen shaves from a free Mach 3, I received in the mail several years ago. So, in those forty years Ive tried many soaps from all over the world and TABAC is in the top ten of soaps Ive used. It provides nice thick lather and stays moist on your face while you wait to soften your beard. The razor glides across your skin and you can hardly feel it work. The aroma wafts to your nose and actually makes you smile. It may be a little too heavily scented for some, its powerfully fragrant. After the shave, your face feels soft and clean with no greasiness whatsoever. The scent is mostly washed away as you rinse and towel your face. It seems to last forever. Ive used it at least once a week in my rotation and still have over half left. The bowl is extremely well made and very heavy. It doesnt slide around as you load your brush, you can hold your wash cloth to your face and load your brush at the same time. Being heavy, it stays submerged in the hot water and warms wonderfully. The bowl will last forever. Two things I would leave you with. If youve never tried TABAC, you should at least once. And lastly, Arko is the finest shaving soap I have ever put to my face and it costs very little compared to TABAC. Your mileage may vary.

> 3 dayYee Haw! I’ve been wet shaving since 1967, and this is the best shaving soap I have come across yet! It lathers thick and rich and provides an awesome layer of comfort and protection. If you nick yourself you almost have to try. I just wish I had purchased it sooner. I have several shave soaps that I use in rotation, but I think this is undoubtedly the best. You just gotta give this one a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

> 3 dayTabac original by Maurer & Wirtz is an essential part of any mans wet shaving experience. There is simply no other soap on the market that can compare to the rich lather that is quickly and effortlessly whipped up by even the cheapest of brushes. The smell of the soap is mild yet masculine, and does not conflict with any other fragrances. The lather keep hydrated and does not dry out quickly, and the level of cushion (the elusive aspect of razor protection that wetshavers harp on) is simply unbeatable. The longevity of the soap is also outstanding. Depending on how much you decide to load the brush every time you shave, it can be expected that this soap will last at the very least half a year, but likely far longer. The bowl is both solid and unobtrusive, taking up far less room than would a generic bowl, and if you are someone with multiple soaps in rotation it helps to have specific bowls for each one. I cannot for the life of me think of any negative points, and therefore I heartily recommend this product and give it five stars.

> 3 dayNot cheap at about 28$ - the refills can be had for about 20. This contains tallow - rendered animal fat. This is the secret sauce missing from 99% of shaving creams / soaps. This is where it gets its excellent lubrication from. As gross as it may sound, it works. Not like it smells like a can of beef. This smells like a wonderful old-school barbershop shave lotion. I really like the smell. As mentioned, the lubrication is great, the smell is wonderful, lathers well, and lasts. One can of this stuff should last you probably close to a year. So, the economics of it arent really so bad. You could buy the cheaper stuff, but youd have to buy a lot of it, so I feel like the cost is probably about break-even when compared with others. Ive come to find out that I like mitchells wool fat shaving soap a little better, but this stuff is still excellent. Give it a try, you cant go wrong.

> 3 dayI agree with an earlier reveiwer who commented on the soap smell. At first I didnt like it but have now begun to to like it. A few swirls with the brush and its lather galore. It easily the best shaving soap or cream Ive ever used.
