21-11-2024Tabac is simply the best triple milled, tallow based shave soap around. The base scents are bergamot, neroli and lavender. It provides a subdued floral yet masculine aroma. Another reviewer stated 7 or 8 swirls with the brush is enough, but I believe you should go longer. Spend 20 or 30 secs. loading your brush with paste and then spend another 60 to 90 secs. whipping shave lather in a mug or bowl. You will be rewarded with the richest, creamiest, slickest lather youve ever come across. It shaves simply wonderfully leaving the skin hydrated and moist afterwards. For many wet shavers Tabac is the measuring stick by which all others are measured. Used with a quality badger brush and a DE razor you are in for shaving-zen.

Will Not Buy Wenger Again
> 3 dayMeh! This soap is not for me, I simply cant stand the smell. I am a first time buyer, and have to say a last time buyer. The soap makes good lather and provides good cushion and a smooth shave, but the fragrance is overwhelming to me. As stated by others, there are better soaps out there, that smell much better than this. I was curious because of the stellar reviews, now I have tried it, dont like it due to the sent, so never again. By the way, my wife thinks it stinks, and that is the killer!

Greater than one weekEven if you disregard my claim, I will be more than happy to accept it. But face the facts, or you know what go ask your grandfather and dad and they will agree with me. Scent wise Tabac of the land of Dutch simply threw this soap out to the masses with complete confidence. What I am inspired by is the philosophy behind the combination of scents that those guys placed on the table. You get a warm cute tie of lavender, along with some innocent citrus, along with a friendly bunch of flowers, you mix them and you find your self hugged with leather and smokey sensation. Who would have thought the piney flowers would turn to a male inspired icon. I have to admit though I had to allow the scent to grow on me but thanks to the after shave that accompanied me since childhood years on my dads den. I was always a curious bugger and Tabac really was the reason for me to grab the art of scents and smells. You know its Tabac when you smell it there is no other option. I purchased this product with the cause of adding some history to my den, I appreciate all scents, artisans and soap companies world wide but sorry not having Tabac in your collection is like not having a bottle of water in your fridge, it should be there, just along with old spice , cella, Mitchells wool fat and the whole gang. I will be posting reviews on every Tabac shaving product on Amazon because of my smart purchase and I would like to be the one to attract some wet shaver to get their hands on the products of this company especially this soap. I am sorry but I did splurge on this soap with its ceramic container and I am always someone who looks for the refill and ignores the extra money to pay on a tub. But common , where else on earth with you find a perfect fit for this soap, yes you can get a vintage skuttle from the ice ages and play an anthem to it but sorry, this ceramic tub along with its wood like lid screams ( I am perfect) and yes it is. The ceramic / porcalin tub is high temperature resistant, it fits well in the hands, it has a great brand look, and all that the price is similar to any artisan shaving soap maker out there. This soap is miles different from the shaving cream, the extra luxurious lather and off white marrang sheen, the extra scent of powder is just incomparable to anything out there. This soap is here to last with you for generations, its triple milled so dont shy away to add extra warm water for the bloom process, it will just make your amazing shave tuned up to heavenly. I used all types of brushes on this soap but I often go with a badger brush just to fulfill a classic gentle mans shave moto. I use all sorts of DE razors with this product , all sorts I mean a wide range of aggressive razors because the cushion and glide I get from this soap protects the hell out of my face. Even if you dont have the after Shaves that exist for this product the smell is strong and will linger even after your shave. I highly recommend to air dry this soap upside down once you already loaded your brush to maintain its everlasting consumption. Rinsing off the left over foam clean with water and leaving it for 24 hours to settle will ensure a long life for this triple milled goodness. I wasnt paid to do this review but I scream Tabac to any new wet shaver who values history, performance, reputation, and quality in products. I find my childish side of me asking myself why arent there any other scents in the line of this company, and I end up slapping myself. If I am not mistaken with respect to Proraso from Italy, Tabac is either as old or even older than Proraso. I wont confirm this fact but I will leave it to you to know. There is a reason why this brand is still kicking strong in the market. Have a great shave!

> 3 dayI held off trying Tabac. The name, and way some have described the scent online seemed odd. The reports of its great lathering qualities had me intrigued. It comes in a nice white glass lidded bowl that looks great all with all your shave gear. The scent is very pleasing to me. It is not a modern fragrance, but if classic scents like Sandalwood, Old Spice, and the original Clubman scent are in your lineup, believe this will fit right in. For a person that likes lighter Citrus notes, maybe not. I would encourage anyone to try. It is light and barely noticeable while lathering. Doesnt really hang on or interfere with subsequent aftershave or colognes. Ive tried several brushes, but my Semogue 830 boar seems just right to load the soap and get it on my face. Minimal effort needed to whip up good lather even with hard water. Yes, almost explosive. Overall more impressed with the lather density. Some soaps very bubbly and take more effort, this is just creamy from the first few swirls in the bowl. It rivals creams for ease of use. Slickness and blade cushioning is about the best. I have sensitive skin and neck whiskers that grow in different directions on both sides. Tabac really allows me to make some nice close passes without fear of razor burn. The only gripe is that Tabac seems to take a bit more effort to rinse the residue off when done shaving, but this is quite minor and the soap otherwise seems to have moisturizing effect. It seems a bit pricey, but the bowl is re-usable and the soap really lasts. Will be buying more.

> 3 dayMy top 4: *I was going to put 5 but really just thought these worth the effort. 1. Tabac: this scent is just ME. I love this stuff. Get your brush nice and wet and warm, give it a shake and lather. Mounds of lather, slick, warm, soft and such a leathery tobacco sweet scent. Not burnt tobacco but the actual plant. I just love everything about it. For me it is my if I only had 1 soap choice. This is a scent and soap that I shave with year round. 2. TOBS Sandalwood: I have acquired this recently and will say that as far as a luxury feeling lather goes, this is it. You will not find a better performing shave soap in my opinion. I little goes a long way. I’m just not as crazy about the scent, it’s ok, but there is a reason it is second to Tabac for me. 3. Cella: this stuff is near perfect. This is some seriously nice shave soap. If you want a great shave go with this. The only reason it is number 3 is because it smells like Christmas Cookies and for me that is not my everyday scent. But it does dissipate quickly. I find this is the soap I shave with when I am happy. Also worth noting, I let all of my family and friends smell all my soaps and pick their favorite and 20/20 people picked this. I agree, the scent is wonderful and so is the performance, I just can’t do Christmas Cookies everyday, especially when it is hot outside. 4. Proraso Green: just an absolute classic. Such a refreshing and crisp shave. The eucalyptus and menthol in this is hard to beat as far as the feeling of a shave goes. I just find the lather to not be as thick or rich. If I want an irritation free and smooth shave I will reach for this, and I find myself reaching for it a lot.

> 3 dayTabac is excellent when it comes to lathering, cushioning, and slickness. It is is one of my favorite non-artisan shaving soaps. A great old-school barbershop scent. I will always have it in my collection. Compared to other brands, the Tabac container version is on the pricier side. The refills are more reasonably priced. But Tabac is still a 5-star shaving soap for me.

> 3 dayFantastic soap. Up there and possibly surpasses Mitchells. Use a boar brush to get the most from the soap. Will last a long time.

> 3 dayfantastic smell, and fantastic shave. it has a citrusy barbershop (powdery) smell, and is a pleasure to use. The smell does linger, so beware anyone who has a job with no scents...it lingers pleasantly for aproxx two hours or so for me. The puck was bigger than expected, and the seller i purchased from said it would take 4 weeks, and i got it from across the pond in less than one.
