Taylor of Old Bond Street Peppermint Shave Cream (5.3 oz)

Greater than one weekI am a HUGE fan of Taylor of Old Bond Street. My go-to is usually the Eton College shave cream, but I am also what some might crudely call a menthol slut. Well, Clubmans Osage Rub is my guilty pleasure, so I thought a nice peppermint oil laden shaving cream by TOBS would be a great addition to my gourmet shaving kit. Boy was I right! Now, this cream wont burn your face or anything, but as you brush the lather on your face, you can instantly feel the cooling sensation. Its wonderful. You cant feel any fresher than this while shaving...or can you? Rinse off when youre done, then slap on some Osage Rub and REALLY make your eyes water! This shave cream gloriously intensifies the effect of that aftershave, which is my #1 favorite thing about it!

> 3 dayPROS: Foams up very quickly so it doesnt take 1+ mins to lather up like some other soaps. Cost efficient. CONS: Sometimes the lather will get sticky when on face. This can be fixed by using more water when lathering. NEUTRAL: The peppermint smell is not subtle, its sweet like candy, so expect that. 4/5

> 3 dayI have used this for about 2 years now, and its hands down the best I have tried. The scent is both rich and not overpowering (though the peppermint may make your eyes water if you use too much, learned that quick!), with a very smooth feel before and after the shave. If recommend its use for safety razor and modern razor usage. A soft badger hair brush is recommended, as it didnt seem to lather as easily with my boar bristle brush. Overall its my favorite, and a great treat to start your day off right.

> 3 dayThis is a very, in you your face, wake you up in the morning, feeling refreshed kinda peppermint. I love it. Huge peppermint shaving cream fan, ie proraso. This is easy lather to build like most tobs. The only other scent that tops this is the marzipan/almond/cherry like a cella. This gives great slickness and protection. Little goes a long way. I Would buy again.

> 3 dayThis quickly became my favorite shave soap. Lathers well and smells great. Also has a nice cooling sensation. I have sensitive skin and have not had any negative reactions in the 10+ times Ive already used it.

> 3 dayAfter trying this, I personally think that it is a little over rated and a little over priced. I will not purchase this again, though I do not regret buying it and may consider trying some of the other products in their lineup. Also, this is a cream, and I am more of a soap person come to find out. The Good: First of all, this stuff absorbs A TON of water, which means a small dab will make A LOT of lather. I love the smell of peppermint, and the scent is good on this product. The lather that it does make is very thick and provides cushion. The Bad: Though peppermint smells great, I found it to be a little irritating on my skin. If you have sensative skin, you may want to stay away. I can not seem to get the lather slick enough for my taste. So between that and the peppermint oil causing some irritation I can easily get razor burn while using this product that I do not experience with other soaps and creams. Now since I like shaving soaps better I did try to mix some of this cream with one of my cheaper no frills soaps that I have. And WOW, that is now the way I use this stuff. I lather up my brush with the soap, then I put a dab of this on there. This makes what I call an Ultra lather, and thus ends up both thick and full like the cream aspect, but also makes it slick like a soap. With that combination I get no razor burn and the peppermint oil is not irritating my skin. This makes it useable so it wont go to waste. However, for the price there are some really nice soaps out there that do not require mixing in another product to make it the way I like it. As with any kind of soap / cream shaving supply, the usage and review takes into account my preferences and experiences with the product. I know that hardness of water will effect which types of soaps and creams you will like. SO as they say, your mileage may vary.

> 3 dayFor some reason I envisioned this to be a solid, it isnt. It is a cream about the consistency of thick pudding. I intended this to work in my shaving cup and brush, it doesnt work that way. You can put it in your shaving cup and dip your brush into it, but you cannot make a lather in the cup. Nothing at all wrong with the product, good lather, smells great, smooth shave. It is just not meant for a shaving cup. Ill keep it and use it up, but will search for a good solid shaving soap to go in the shaving cup. Anyone have any recommendations? It would have been helpful if in the description it said, a semi-liquid shaving cream to be used out of its own container and not suitable for a shaving cup or some such description.

> 3 daySimply the best! The scent is more towards peppermint candy than peppermint leaf. There is a tingle when applied. Nice clean scent but not overbearing. Light enough to pair with most aftershaves. Small amount lathers excellent with enough slick. Highly recommend.

Greater than one weekThis shaving cream lathers incredibly well when used with a brush, and it doesnt take much to get a full lather twice (I lather once to shave with the grain and then lather again to go against the grain). I will definitely be buying more of this peppermint cream once it runs out, which wont be for a while since it doesnt take much! Great product.

> 3 dayThis product is excellent. The peppermint fragrance is energizing and soothing at the same time.
