> 3 dayEvery AC unit that says its an easy install for windows lies (at least based on how my windows are set up) and although the price is steep, it makes installation a breeze for all unit sizes (works so well I bought 2). If you have difficulty getting your unit in the window every summer this is worth relieving the stress of that process. in terms of durability time will tell. given the perceived strength of the components im surprised it doesnt have a longer warranty which is a little frustrating but otherwise im satisfied.

> 3 dayVERY easy to set up, but you do need to poke your head out of the window to make sure the feet are flat on the wall. If you dont do that, and something jostles the air conditioner, I can imagine dire things happening. The instruction booklet, like ALL instruction booklets, could use some work. Maybe larger, clearer illustrations. But, its true, you dont need any tools. One last thing - you need to use alternate methods to fill the gaps created using this bracket. There will be areas in front of and underneath the bracket to fill. Not a problem - I used bubble wrap. Bottom line - I feel that the entire unit is safer, and therefore, we are safer using it.

> 3 dayVery easy to put the rack together, but our AC has a bulge at the bottom so had to angle it much lower to accommodate. The rack didnt allow for the weather stripping around our window to seal close completely. All said, its still a nice device to have which makes it easy and safee putting up the AC to the window.

> 3 dayThe bracket is sturdy metal. It goes together and installs easily and should work well. The problem with mine is the front support wing lock pin was broken upon arrival and sitting in the bottom of the box. Some of the paint is also chipped, which will cause faster rusting in Seattle weather. I can fix this, but should not have to for this price. I am waiting for a reply from their customer service and hope they will just send a replacement wing rather than having to hassle returning the whole thing. If they send a replacement, Ill be able to increase the sturdiness to 4 stars The leg lock pins do not go into both holes at the same time as some others noted. I thought they were broken, but the instructions note only one pin locks at a time. *Update 7/8/21: The Top Shelf Team was quick and responsive. They replied quickly and sent a new wing to replace the broken one. Kudos and thank you to them. Upgraded rating to 4 stars.

> 3 dayWas easy to install and seemed quite sturdy. Was a touch expensive though and doesn’t really fully bear the weight of the AC except at the window jam. The problem is really with the AC as it doesn’t allow for that suggested 4deg down bubble due to being ‘clipped’ into the window pane. But my landlord said we needed brackets on all AC units so here we are.

> 3 dayThe bracket is easy to put together and put into the window. I have two ac units - a heavier Frigidaire and a smaller Haier. After reading the reviews here I opted to use this with the smaller Haier. It slid onto the bracket with ease, and there was still space left on the sides and front of bracket so the unit is totally supported. The bracket is well packaged and the instructions are clear. This was a must for me as I did not want to drill holes and I live on a high floor where cars are parked underneath the window. It costs more but is worth saving the headache of using tools, when installing an ac unit is a hassle in and of itself. I would definitely recommend this to anyone living in an apartment who needs the added security of a bracket, and doesnt have the time or know how for putting together additional tools for their ac unit.

> 3 dayEven though they clearly state its not for side sliding windows, I ordered it anyway. It does work for them, I had to put two small 2x4 blocks between the feet and outside wall! I also cut a piece of clear lexan to close the top of the AC to window top. It looks really good and a million times better than what I had before! The bracket itself required no tools, it sat right down in the window channel like a cradle. Light wheight yet heavy duty precision construction with a powder coat finish! I highly recommend this product!

> 3 dayThis device is strong, well designed and super easy to install IF you have the right kind of windows. Which i did not... Fortunately my ac unit sits in a first floor window (in the back yard and surrounded by fencing) so i was able to make a work around and still use the bracket. I REALLY wanted a bracket that did not require drilling holes in the window frame because i just installed new windows and DID NOT want to put ANY holes in the frames!!! Because my windows were not what this bracket was designed to work with i ran into two problems. Getting the ac unit to sit flush with the window and getting the bracket to brace against the outside wall. You can see from the pix I included how i managed to do that but heres the detail if youre interested: The website specs say you need a minimum of 6 from inside wall to outside wall, which I do, BUT, they dont mention (until you buy it and read the instructions that come with the bracket...) that the measurement HAS to actually be from the inside frame of the window (not the inside wall) to the outside wall of the house. They presume a sill on the outside of the house not on the inside. My windows have an inside sill and not an outside sill. Consequently we had to jump through numerous hoops to get the unit secured so it was relatively airtight to the window. I added a small piece of foam packaging to sit between the metal bar and the window frame, so the metal bar that is supposed to rest directly on the window frame would not damage the frame. I also had to devise a styro fitting to go all around the unit (inside and out) because (as I have heard mentioned in other reviews) there was a huge gap between the ac units wings and the window frame, like 1/2 inch of more! But the biggest problem, if you dont have enough depth between the inside window frame and the outside wall, is the legs on the bracket as designed, will not reach the outside wall, so there is nothing to hold the bracket in place. If you dont have a first floor window then most people have to nail some wood into their outside wall so the legs can rest against that. That means holes in the outside wall of your house (not good) and trying to affix the wood to usually brick or in my case stucco (not easy). So i finally opted to scrap using the legs to the brace and went with a wood brace that extends from the underside of the bracket to the ground. I treated the wood so it will last longer and set it on a brick so it wasnt directly on the ground (to minimize attracting termites). You do have to be sure you get the proper amount of slope so the ac unit tilts down so the condensation will run outside. The bracket is well made and if you have the kind of windows it is made for you are golden. If not there are some things you can do, if you really dont want to put holes in you window frames or house. I sure would like to see them make a couple models so that more people could take advantage of the easy install feature (took us about 4 hours to problem solve and install this baby) but now that its there, i am super happy I went to the trouble of trying to make it work!

> 3 dayThis is a well-built, heavy-duty product with a clean look. Assembly was simple, and once in place it made installation of the AC itself surprisingly quick and easy. For once, no shims or screws were necessary. In my experience maintaining a rental property, window AC setups are typically improvised affairs. Ive never installed or adjusted an AC without a good bit of shimming and foam-stuffing. Especially in older homes, window ACs are just an inherently kludgey solution—and the Top Shelf bracket wont change that fundamental fact. In my case, the bracket didnt alleviate the need for plugging some air gaps, nor did I really expect it to. Its main benefit is post-installation peace of mind: Im not worried about the AC shifting or, worse, a tenant accidentally opening a sash and the whole thing tipping out the window. The bracket is solid, and Im confident the AC isnt going anywhere. But given all the variables—e.g., window casing, wall thickness, siding type—Id recommend reading the manufacturer notes and customer reviews carefully before buying. Or, better yet, contacting the company. As other reviewers have noted, the owner is exceptionally responsive. Before purchasing, I emailed him a query with photos of my window, and he replied in less than a half hour, with attached illustrations addressing my questions.

> 3 dayIt looks like a high-quality item, but it did not work for my window. Build quality is very good, almost over-engineered. The only issue that I have with this bracket is that for the type of window this would work for, you probably wouldnt even need such a heavy-duty bracket, since windows with adequate ledges can bear the weight of an air conditioner far better than those without. For those types of windows, there are far cheaper options (shims, 2 x 4s, etc) that would do the job just fine. Also, based upon the description and my measurements, this *should* have worked for me, but unfortunately, it did not - my ledge was just a hair too shallow. This possibility is something you might want to keep in mind, because returning it will be really inconvenient, should you need to. I do wish this would have worked. With this bracket, you could put a really big air conditioner in your window and rest secure knowing that it would be well supported. If a bracket is required by your HOA or apartment complex, this is the one. It really is a very nice bracket. Even though I had to return it, I give it five stars overall.
