> 3 dayMy 22,000 btu unit and I think most large ac units require the outside metal cabinet be installed and secured first. Then the actual ac unit is lifted up and slides into the cabinet from the home interior pushing the unit outward thru the window and into the cabinet. The ac units bottom is a tray that has all the components bolted to it. The bottom tray of the ac unit is the bottom of the whole air conditioner so the cabinet itself has a large opening in the bottom. Problem is the cabinet is open at the bottom with slide rails on each side. The cabinet falls down and around the bracket unsupported. Once installed the ac units bottom tray will rest on the bracket but the cabinet needs to be supported at during installation.

> 3 dayWe are so happy with this product. Sturdy, Strong, Reliable, quick to assemble and very easy to use. Holds the air conditioner in the appropriate position at the appropriate angle. The feet that rest against your house/apartment/office have silicone nobs as to not damage siding. Another great feature about the feet is they are flexible to accommodate different types of siding. The legs have several adjustment options for any angle needed and securely lock into place. I definitely recommend this product if you plan to put an air conditioner in an upper storey home/apartment/office window. We tried several others that werent terrible but none compared to the sturdiness and peace of mind this Bracket provided. Youll also notice your air conditioner will run quieter because it is sturdy.

> 3 dayI tried supports from Home Depot and Lowes but none of them worked with Vinyl windows, they required that you either screw into the window frame or the mount was too far on the inside of the window to allow the side panels to work. This product is very sturdy. No tools required and fit almost perfectly. Leaving a nice sturdy channel to rest the bottom of the air conditioner into. I took one star off sturdiness only because the bottom bracket does have a slight bow to it with the weight of the AC unit. Nothing I am overly concerned about though. Very pleased with the frame and would highly recommend to anyone with vinyl windows and a 10k btu or higher window unit. My windows are 36 wide and this worked great. Note: I had to install the bracket further in with the tabs on the window casing not on the window frame as instructed. There is only about 1/4 inch or so on each side that the metal tabs could rest on the window frame, which the adjustment holes on the sill bracket did not have fine enough adjustment for and I would not have felt comfortable with so little (1/4 inch on each side) holding the AC unit in. So using the foam strip on top of the AC unit and some Duck brand foam (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002GKC2WQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) it works fine.

> 3 dayExtremely sturdy and easy to install BUT needs some modifications if using with an AC requiring to install the cabinet then the AC itself. I used 2 pieces of 3/8 thick aluminum I bolted to the far crossbar , then I could install the cabinet (bolted to the crossbars). I would suggest the manufacturer to offer this modification as an option. Fits tightly and very nicely. Required very little weather stripping. For all other window ACs, can be used easily. Just check that your windows are compatible with this shelf: go on the web site of the manufacturer: there are some good pictures. By the way the instructions are not well written.

> 3 dayThis ac mount is well made. It was packed well too. My Milgard windows are flush with outside wall. Before purchase, I looked at TopShelf Website. I knew the two feet at base would not touch my wall without a little modification. Each foot is removable and has four holes with rubber cushions inserted. I removed the cushions and attached a piece of primed, painted wood (approx 1 in. pad) using wood screws. I believe the attached wood provides even better distribution of force on the stucco wall. The mount works well and looks good.

> 3 dayThis device is strong, well designed and super easy to install IF you have the right kind of windows. Which i did not... Fortunately my ac unit sits in a first floor window (in the back yard and surrounded by fencing) so i was able to make a work around and still use the bracket. I REALLY wanted a bracket that did not require drilling holes in the window frame because i just installed new windows and DID NOT want to put ANY holes in the frames!!! Because my windows were not what this bracket was designed to work with i ran into two problems. Getting the ac unit to sit flush with the window and getting the bracket to brace against the outside wall. You can see from the pix I included how i managed to do that but heres the detail if youre interested: The website specs say you need a minimum of 6 from inside wall to outside wall, which I do, BUT, they dont mention (until you buy it and read the instructions that come with the bracket...) that the measurement HAS to actually be from the inside frame of the window (not the inside wall) to the outside wall of the house. They presume a sill on the outside of the house not on the inside. My windows have an inside sill and not an outside sill. Consequently we had to jump through numerous hoops to get the unit secured so it was relatively airtight to the window. I added a small piece of foam packaging to sit between the metal bar and the window frame, so the metal bar that is supposed to rest directly on the window frame would not damage the frame. I also had to devise a styro fitting to go all around the unit (inside and out) because (as I have heard mentioned in other reviews) there was a huge gap between the ac units wings and the window frame, like 1/2 inch of more! But the biggest problem, if you dont have enough depth between the inside window frame and the outside wall, is the legs on the bracket as designed, will not reach the outside wall, so there is nothing to hold the bracket in place. If you dont have a first floor window then most people have to nail some wood into their outside wall so the legs can rest against that. That means holes in the outside wall of your house (not good) and trying to affix the wood to usually brick or in my case stucco (not easy). So i finally opted to scrap using the legs to the brace and went with a wood brace that extends from the underside of the bracket to the ground. I treated the wood so it will last longer and set it on a brick so it wasnt directly on the ground (to minimize attracting termites). You do have to be sure you get the proper amount of slope so the ac unit tilts down so the condensation will run outside. The bracket is well made and if you have the kind of windows it is made for you are golden. If not there are some things you can do, if you really dont want to put holes in you window frames or house. I sure would like to see them make a couple models so that more people could take advantage of the easy install feature (took us about 4 hours to problem solve and install this baby) but now that its there, i am super happy I went to the trouble of trying to make it work!

> 3 dayYoull likely need a ton of insulating foam to seal up all the cracks this leaves, but it solves a niche issue and for that I am very thankful. The rubber feet pads are terrifyingly hard to press in and fall out almost immediately - also the spring loaded button stops for the arms are not particularly made the best - one refused to pop out no matter what I tried. Rest of the item seems very sturdily built. Like some other reviewers I have outside flush vinyl windows and no real good way to brace a heavier AC. The last AC I put in damaged the window due to its weight so I needed something to help with the bracing, but didnt want to fabricate my own wooden bracket or shove a 2x4 in my lawn. I set this flush with my inside frame, so the arms in front grab on the sides of the window sill - then used a ton of foam to seal up all the cracks. Not the prettiest but definitely is getting the job done so far.

> 3 dayI now have four of these brackets. They are very useful for installing any window air conditioner. Even the smallest A/C units weigh 30-40 lbs and that is a lot of weight to be moving around in awkward ways. I first bought one for my daughter after she dropped her A/C out her back window. It is important to visit the Top Shelf website to see if the unit is compatible with your window and wall thickness before purchasing. You dont need to use any fasteners with it but there are two holes that can be used to screw it to the window frame and I have used a couple of screws to attach mine. Although the price seemed a bit high to me at first, after seeing how inferior some lower cost units were in comparison, I think they are a good value.

> 3 dayThis bracket is dead-simple to set up and get in the window. However, Ive had quality issues with both units that I ordered. The first unit arrived with part of the main piece bent, which prevented one of the legs being inserted. The replacements right wing, which is one of the pieces that braces against the window frame, has a lock pin which doesnt seem to fit securely into the holes in the wing. The motion described in the manual to adjust the wing causes the lock pin to fall out. The left wing does not have this issue. Im not sure to what degree this affects the sturdiness of the bracket, but Im a little afraid to put an air conditioner on top of it.

> 3 dayI was surprised that it was as good as they said it was . It had all the parts only a couple of dings in it so all I had to do was put a heavy spray seal on it just like new . Not often you get an item that’s $76.00 for $17.00 . Works great
